I got a great rate, but my experience with Blue Water Mortgage was otherwise extremely frustrating. I have refinanced my home several times and have never come across such a low level of service. Poor lines of communication, lax follow-up and slow response times characterized my transaction with them. This, despite the fact that I answered every one of their requests for additional information or documentation within 24 hours. I started this process in mid October of 2010. I am a busy professional whose work schedule is heaviest from Thanksgiving to New Year’s due to annual insurance expirations and I needed to have things done before that, which I impressed upon them several times. Never the less, when they needed more information about my tax returns and I immediately gave them my accountant’s contact information, they did not call her for a week. They said they might need more information about the owner occupancy rate from my condo association, and then did not actually request that information for another 10 days. Phone calls often went unreturned or were cut off while on hold. They had difficulty dealing with the fact that my personal mailing address of more than 20 years was different from my residential address, a problem I had never encountered with any other mortgage broker. When a closing date was finally established, it was on the last date of my rate lock and, due to my workload, I had to rearrange my schedule extensively to make the date. AFTER closing, astoundingly, I became aware of concerns from the new lender about whether I lived at the property and if the pay off to the previous lender had indeed been for my home because of Blue Water’s confusion over my different personal mailing address. I myself then had to provide additional documentation for the new lender to resolve these issues. Luckily I can make my mortgage payments online as I have yet to receive ANY correspondence from the new lender at my personal mailing address and it is now more than 3 months since the closing. Blue Water Mortgage demonstrated to me the most amazing combination of unprofessionalism and incompetence that I have ever encountered in such matters. That they sent me cards for the holidays and my birthday afterwards does not change these facts.

Before working with Roger and Blue Water Mortgage I was originally working with another mortgage lender (as an acquaintance of mine worked for that company). I am a first time home buyer and when working with this other person I felt clueless to how the process worked. All quotes I received were basically just a final price and the total closing costs. While I was new to the process and didn’t really know better, I felt there must be a better option. I mentioned this to a coworker who recommended Roger and Blue Water Mortgage, so I decided to shoot Roger an email, I am so glad I did. Not only did Roger respond much quicker than the person I was working with originally, but included a complete breakdown with all costs included. In addition to much better service, Roger and his team provided cheaper closing costs and a better rate. This resulted in a mortgage payment much cheaper than what I was told with the first person I was working with. Last thing to note was not only was it great to work with Roger but the rest of his team (Paula and Lee) as well. I can’t recommend them enough!

As a first time home buyer, I had no idea where to begin with the mortgage process. Our realtor referred us to Blue Water to get pre-approved and we were fortunate enough to work with Rick Schlager. Even before we made an offer, Rick was extremely helpful and made sure we would be able to get approved for the condo we ended up falling in love with. Once the actual closing process started we stuck with Blue Water since our experience had been so positive thus far. They also have lawyers who will look over your P&S free of charge, which is a GREAT help during the stressful process. Rick was always available to answer our never ending questions, no matter how simple or small. I would 100% recommend Blue Water to anyone, especially first time home buyers. They made the entire process seamless.

As a first time home buyer we had no idea how to start the mortgage process and what to expect. John Riley explained everything to us. Whenever we had a question, which I had many he always picked up his phone or called us right back. He always wanted to make sure we understood what he was saying. Everyone at Blue Water was great they all worked together to help us close. We felt like anytime there was a question or a concern that it was answered and addressed quickly, we had all the information we needed to know what needed to happen each step of the way. Roger worked with me on an extremely complicated deal, and his knowledge, persistence and excellence helped to pull everything together. He invested the time and effort needed to make the deal happen. I had other mortgage companies that would not take on this challenge, but Roger stepped up to the plate and made it happen. I also did another deal with Roger that went extremely quickly and efficiently. Roger would not rush through his calls with me, but take his time to outline all the steps needed. After working with Roger I don’t think that I could work with another loan officer again. I would highly recommend Roger to anyone who is in need or a mortgage.

We started my home buying experience we where told by many mortgage companies we had to wait 3 years. I was doing a VA loan. We were told 3 years due to a bankruptcy. We found Danielle French at blue water mortgage. She told us the truth we could get a mortgage 2 years out. She was able to answer all of our questions. She was available all the time. We did get a great interest rate. We also found that the people who work behind Danielle was also helpful. We have already referred family to Danielle. They have done one loan with them and will be closing on a second home loan with them soon. We have been in our new home since November.
