The old system was a builder’s grade that I wanted to replace before it failed. Slade was knowledgeable and spent several hours at my house inspecting the old equipment and going over the specs for new equipment and we were actually able to downsize the furnace that was oversized for the house and increased one of the returns. I never once felt like I was being oversold or overpriced on any of the equipment I purchased. I did bid out to four other contractors, and Gene Love was not the cheapest nor where they the most expensive. Most importantly, Slade did what he said he was going to do and at the price we agreed. None of the contractors even mention changing or increase the returns and modifying the equipment size. The install looks like a work of art in the attic. After they got everything running, they spent the time to find and correct any leaks in and around the air handler connections they also rerouted existing flex in neat and logical fashion. Interestingly though, on initial startup the upstairs return register in my sons room was extremely loud, they took the time and were able to increase the flex duct size to fix the issue. So overall I’m very happy with the install I give them a grade of A+, I will not be able to comment on the true AC or heating performance yet as the weather is mild.
Gene Love Plumbing responded to my needs immediately after I called this morning. Kayla answered the phone and was very friendly and helpful as always! She took thorough notes about my problem and sent in the request for service. In a very short time, Trey called me back and told me he had a technician that he could send my way very soon. I was so pleased to learn that Jacob H, who I requested for service if he was available , had been dispatched to help me! Jacob has been to our home on numerous occasions to repair a variety of plumbing issues. He does a fantastic job of explaining what he finds and walks us through the process of what it will take to make it work properly. Jacob did a thorough inspection of the plumbing involved and determined that this was a repair that would need to be fixed by an appliance technician. I appreciated his honesty and the helpful suggestions/information he gave to pass along to the appliance technician ... now we will feel more empowered to talk with the appliance company when we request service! Jacob always makes us smile with his friendly demeanor, and his natural ability to pass along information in terms that we understand!! We always feel like we are in good hands with Love Plumbing!! Service Technician arrived shortly after the dispatcher called to say he was on the way. I had a water leak coming from unknown sources. It was discovered after stepping on a wet spot on the carpet in the dining room. A quick into the crawl space discovered a leak and water dripping off the main floor sill. But could not locate the source of the water as it disappeared up thru the floor and wall. Greg G. came in and proceed to search and measure from locations under the house to locate the pipe hidden in the dining room wall. After having to cut into the sheet rock to gain access to the leaking pipe the leak was found. He proceeded to cut off the water, replace a section of pipe and the leak was resolved. Greg G. was most courteous, polite, and showed a concern for my issue. As well he quickly resolved the situation and cleaned up and after going over the costs he was on his way to another call. This is the second occasion that I have had to call Gene Love Plumbing, previously when the water heater bottom rusted out and water was going everywhere. These guys are the best. Thanks again to Greg G. and the professional folks at Gene Love Plumbing.
I have had the worst experience with them. If anyone tell you they are the best are either paid actors, liars or family members. I had them to come out on two occasions. The plumber did nothing beyond turning knobs on my sink and using a broken pressure gauge. While the plumber was distracting me, the heating and air guy came up to me with an object he claimed her replaced while checking my unit, without giving me a diagnosis, and charged me over $200.00. The heating and air guy then came back out the next day and stayed in my attic for another hour. He told me before he left that my unit should run fine. When the summer came, I turned on my unit and could not feel any cold air. They came out on a service call. I asked the tech what does he think could be wrong. He looked and me and said he needed to have some time to check it out and would let me know. When he finished, he handed me a bill and said it was 260.00 to change my thermostat. I looked at the thermostat and the box it came in. I was a cheap, used thermostat. I had him to call his supervisor and made him take it off. MY SON CHANGED MY THERMOSTAT WITH NO PROBLEM!
I was very impressed with our technician Gary, but the rest of the company is rude and unprofessional. I called for a service on Sunday evening and the dispatcher told me that a technician would be calling within the hour. I never heard back from them so I called again Monday morning to try again and same thing happened! I was supposed to get a call that afternoon when a technician would be available and I never got a phone call. After several angry messages with their office, I finally got someone scheduled to come out on Tuesday. One would think that after calling on Sunday, they would want to call back to get the business of a prospective customer. There is no communication between the office and the technicians and the customers get lost in the mix. Instead of getting an apology for the unreturned phone calls, I got excuses. Once we finally got someone out to the house to do the work, Gary did a great job working quickly and professionally. I would not recommend using their service however because their office staff were a complete disappointment.
Thank you Gene Love for coming out and seeing the need of my disaster. You all came out promply as you said you would, which is a plus. You checked out the job to care of all the paperwork, and got the young men to take care of the job immediately. They even worked in the rain and cleared the debris under my house. They were very thorough, well-mannered, polite, and very knowledgable. They did a great job in explaining what had to be done, and how to solve the problem in order that I would be able to understand and to set my mind at ease. They even checked out my vents and all before they left. And they also took pictures and even explained those. Corey and Deonne works very well together. What a team they are! Keep up the good work. You are a 5 star in my book. Yes, I recommend Gene Love to my family and friends, and also Corey and Deonne. -Catherine Simmons.
We had used Gene Love Plumbing previously and was especially impressed with the work done by Jeff P. So when we needed some additional work to change out some leaking faucets we were perfectly happy to use Jeff again. We were not disappointed. Jeff arrived on time, went straight to work, and quickly completed the job. He was straight-forward and suggested two options, one more expensive than the other. He said he would first check things out and would not recommend the more expensive option unless absolutely necessary. As it turns out things were in okay shape and we were able to go with the cheaper options. Jeff was courteous, professional and efficient. His work was of very high quality. While, like anyone else I would prefer not to have to use any plumber again, but when I do I will call Gene Love Plumbing and ask for Jeff!
Mid-day today I discovered a leak in my water-line between the meter and the house. This resulted in my house being without water…not a comfortable experience. I briefly spoke with Kevin and he suggested that I call the office to arrange for service. After Adam took my call at the dispatch desk, Jeff was at the house in less than 1.5 hours. Jeff was extremely easy to be around and his work style was super-efficient and effective. A discovery during repairs resulted in needing Sandy to bring over additional materials. Remarkably, everything was completed before 5p. The experience with the Gene Love group was great – from beginning to end. Kevin, Adam Hunter, Jeff Pridgen, and Sandy Listrom were – each – super. They represent the Gene Love service-family very well. I will undeniably highly recommend them to anyone.
I am new to the area and used Gene Love Plumbing in the beginning of the year for a toilet fill valve replacement. I thought that it would be a good idea to go with a plumbing company which gives a flat rate for their work rather than an hourly rate because just like everyone else, who likes surprises? However, what they charged for such a simple labor call was outrageous. Since they already were going to charge me a service fee for coming out, I went ahead and gave them the ok to do the work. Later I found out just how inexpensive the cost of materials were (they did end up also replacing the supply line to the toilet as well as the flushing handle) and I decided I would use a different plumber for future needs. I guess you do pay extra for the comfort of "no surprise" billing.
I have called Gen Love. Comp after an episode of pest infestation affecting my air conditioner duct system. I met with Chong King who assessed the entire system. Chong took his time and gave me a thorough explanation as to what he found and what he could do to repair the problem. Chong showed me other unrelated problems that he told me he could address with no other charges. His honesty convinced me that he would be the right man for this job. Chong returned, on the appointed time, with Dominic and Travis and got the job done within 8 hours time. I must add that Chong and his team were efficient, clean and courteous in keeping noise level to a minimum. Thank you Chong, Travis and, Dominic for a job well done. And, thank you Gene Love. Yves C
Due to the large pine trees a security light could not be installed and the suggestion was made to consult an electrician to see what other possibilities might be available. Having used Gene Love for AC and plumbing issues I contacted them. Brandon M. came out and offered a perfect solution to the need for lighting in the front yard. The LED motion sensor flood lights were installed the same afternoon. The work was completed according to the original estimate, done in a timely and very professional manner. Brandon was a wonderful service professional and a joy to work with. Highest recommendations and will gladly request him for other electrical issues.
We had a company here installing pole-mounted satellite tv service and they hit the main water line outside to our home. Thankfully Love Plumbing, Air & Electric were able to come out within an hour or so of the accident. Anthony in dispatch answered all of my questions and dispatched Rob T to our home. Rob was really kind and polite did a great job repairing the main water line to our home. He left the work area/ yard very clean and I can hardly tell where the repair was made. The repair cost was a bit high to me (having never had this sort of thing done before) but I was thankful our family had running water again the same day.
We recently had a new air conditioner and furnace installed in our home. We had the pleasant experience with meeting Kevin, Tim and Corey. They were so very helpful in our decision to install our new products. The were friendly and professional throughout the entire time. They were on time and very thoughtful. We were informed of everything that they were doing. Each one took time to explain our new system to us, and why this system was appropriate for our home. When the work was completed, the area was cleaned up and left immaculate. Very very nice people.Thank you to Kevin, Tim, and Corey.

Pros - they did excellent work. They explained everything in detail, were very professional, and knew what they were doing. If money was no object I would use them. Cons - Possibly the most expensive plumbers in Columbia. All those commercials and fancy trucks cost money. Quoted me $1600 for a 2 hour job that other plumbers quoted me $400-$600 for. Kept trying to upsell me for their service where you pay a monthly fee and they are basically on retainer for you. If you have money to burn they may be okay, but there are much cheaper options out there who will do basically the same work.
