I dont know where to begin. Im in the worst situation ive ever been before thanks to this man im actually in the process of trying to also file a complaint with the Virginia Bar Association. Biggest con artist ever seen this man had my past order and all paperwork regarding my case for 8 month on day of my trial he was suprised over circumstances to the case for example me being 100% responsible for medical bills in a child support case and order to show cause. He had my old order for 8 months what do you mean you didnt know?? I Never talked to him in those 8 month only to hes paralegal I only talked to him first day when he wanted my business and then 8 month later on my court date. Ive had prosecutors that treated me better the way he did he was totally unprepared for my case all he did was set some examples on hes guideline sheet on how much he thinks ill be paying that all he did. I guess u get what u pay for but worst of all I trusted this man and he put me in a situation to where I have so much money being taken away. Dont hire Mathew worst of all he wanted to do a appeal since he did such a sloppy job all I had to do was pay 500$ you might fool me once shame on you but you wont fool me twice please DONT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN UNETHICAL!!! P.S to do a appeal you have to be current on your support because of you being unprepared im 9000$ in the hole how were you planning on doing my appeal did you forget about that part? luckily my new REAL lawyer knew that also this guy said you cant do a discovery in JDR court what a con artist please dont fall for this man fake reviews the VERY WORST!! Btw yes u can do a discovery in JDR .

I remember my regrettable experience here. I contacted Matthew Throop because I needed help defending myself from a vindictive false accusation. He was all sunshine and rainbows until I gave him the deposit. After which, his best advice was let the other party win without a fight in court thus sacrifice my constitutional freedoms, my scholarship, and my future because as he put it, "who are they going to believe? You or a pretty girl?" I fired him. On my court date, they believed me, Mr. Throop, because I had facts, documentation, and truth on my side. I recall, Mathew Throop rarely took notes compared to my new lawyer who made 8 pages in our first visit. Mr Throop did give me a partial refund so that was nice but he folded like a lawn chair when I needed him. In summary, Justice prevailed thanks to the help of a more experienced lawyer. If you have a potentially life changing case, this may not be the best lawyer for you. 14 of these reviews have no identity or previous reviews, some only have 2, which is typical of hiring a company or someone making their own reviews. I do like how some BOLDLY state their name but others are just stars: someone is getting lazy. Maybe my suspicions are wrong and most of his clients have used the Internet for the first time? Smh You get what you pay for folks.

I opted for Throop Law as my representation in traffic court based on the direct and informative nature of the literature they sent in the mail. My court appearance was mandated because the citation was for reckless driving based on speed. As a result of prior infractions, my license would have been suspended if convicted of that offense. The Throop Law team was thorough and professional. Prior to my court we engaged in three phone conversations to ensure they had all details required to represent me, including recommendations to be achieved before the court date as potential mitigation strategies. On the day of my court appearance, my attorney met me outside the court room, explained the process to me and met with the District Attorney. Based on the facts of the case and the mitigation strategies recommended, he was able to negotiate the offense down to a minor speeding ticket, enabling me to maintain my driving privileges. I would highly recommend Throop Law to anyone under similar circumstances.

After arrest on a DUI charge, I called several law offices. I spoke directly with Matthew Throop for his free consultation. He gave me a lot of helpful info on what could happen with a first DUI in Virginia if found guilty, none of which I knew with being from out of state. It helped to get my ducks in a row early on with whichever way it was going to go. His paralegals were quick to get back with me quickly about any questions I had. All worked out for me the best it could considering what I was up against, I thank this law office for that outcome!!
