I just moved into a new house in June of 2017 and purchased a home warranty through Choice Home Warranty for peace of mind, even though everything checked out with the home inspection (I had to provide a copy of the report to Choice Home Warranty). At first, I was satisfied with the service; however, I had only had small, minor claims (e.g., broken shower arm, broken garage door opener) up until this month. My grievance was with a claim for a broken furnace. Given that I know your Choice Home Warranty is very particular about making sure equipment is serviced, I scheduled an appointment with an HVAC company (Horizon Services) to perform a furnace tune-up. On October 6, 2017, the Horizon technician examined the unit and discovered a crack in the heat exchange. The technician requested a second technician to come immediately to verify the crack. I was told that the Heil furnace, installed in 2000 by the previous homeowner, was now inoperable. I immediately called Choice Home Warranty to make a claim. On October 10, 2017, their representative contractor, MW Service Company, came to inspect the unit. The technician, Rich, asked if I had paperwork from the company that identified the crack. I provided it to him and he stated, “I’ll take their word for it this time because it’s a Heil furnace. If they get older than 10 years old, they are junk.” The technician never actually examined the heat exchange. On October 17, 2017, I received a message stating that I should call Choice Home Warranty regarding my claim. I spoke to a Senior Claims Specialist named Jessica. Verbatim, she stated, “The reason the heat exchanger cracked is poor or improper or incomplete insulation. Wait. That doesn’t make sense. Let me check on that.” Jessica intended to put me on hold, but accidentally hung up. I immediately called back and reached Denise who told me she would transfer me to Jessica, but she didn’t. Next, I spoke to another Senior Claims Specialist named Elizabeth. She told me that Jessica was trying to contact the authorization department to check on the status of the claim. Elizabeth told me that “the reason for the crack was that the heat exchanger was not combusting properly due to surface rust” and that per the policy, issues involving rust are not covered. So, you can image my surprise that Choice Home Warranty is refusing to cover the unit due to rust in the heat exchange when your technician never looked at the heat exchange! The “surface rust” excuse is clearly a lie. When I explained this to Elizabeth, I was told that I could pay to have an additional technician through Choice Home Warranty come out to “re-examine” the furnace and assess for rust. At this point, I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to Greg. He stated that he could have another technician from a different company come out at no cost to determine the cause of the crack. I decided not to have a second Choice Home Warranty affiliate company come out to examine the unit again. The employees showed the true colors of Choice Home Warranty by providing a fake excuse to get out of paying for an expensive replacement. This is not a company that I can support. I will not provide Choice Home Warranty with any more of my money so that they can go on ripping people off. I sent a signed letter to Choice Home Warranty to cancel the policy as the contract states that it must be cancelled "in writing," and received an email stating that I had to call them to cancel the policy. So, after waiting on hold for 20 minutes I was told that even though I paid for 3.5 years coverage and only used 5 months of that, I would not be fully refunded for the unused portion...that I would only receive less than half of what I was owed. Choice Home Warranty is a scam and should be ashamed of the service it is providing.

I did not accept this but After i was Sold by an Aggressive Smooth Talking Sales guy from NJ who Made me pay for the whole year they acted like a Car warranty Company who are known not to Pay any claims. They 100% sold me on this policy, claiming how GOOD Choice is than American Home Shield. i Told them AHS ALWAYS found a loophole to NOT pay a claim... and WOW, The 1st claim with CHOICE and they found a LOOPHOLE I knew it... they are all the same. My Upstairs AC stopped cooling, called Choice Warranty and They sent a very unorganized and unprofessional Electrician who fumbled around, he blew sparks and said OH the Wires got Shorted, then he said OK i have fixed it. He asked me to turn it on, after i turned it on, the upstairs AC Started Working then he went outside spent 15 mins on something then came and told me OH the AC is not Cooling Now and now the compressor is gone Bad and i said OK When will it be fixed. He said They will call you----- Guess what they never did When i Called them they said OH the AC guy said that the Unit is not covered because i did not have it properly maintained Choice will not cover the claim because they said that the Unit was Not maintained and asked me to Send in 3 Years of maintainance Records WOW!!! What Bullshit---------Why would One need a Damn Appliance Warranty when i am going to keep 3 Years of maintenance Records. The AC guy also BLEW Out the Outside Power Switch and was supposed to come back and replace it He Never Came Back.............with Texas Heat and people dying of it..........Choice Warranty will have to deal with the results of not fixing my AC as it effect my 92 year old Grandmother who has no AC in this Heat. I am About to Call and Cancel my Warranty and find someone else. What Choice warranty Does not know is that I have an online Review Marketing and Reputation Marketing Company and i will make sure that i do a Press Release to 200 online major sites like Boston Globe, CNN and New York Times......which will then get syndicated to 500 other onines sites and Viral with the Keyword Choice Home Warranty Choice CLAIMS to cover any appliance no matter how old.... right! They lie. A waste of money!

This company is a SCAM with BOILER ROOM service. They offer no service other than to SCAM local businesses. Joanna and Alreses work in a boiler room office. Alreese tells me we did not submit required info to get paid. When I check with our office staff, they confirmed that Alreese had confirm receipt last week. When i called back, Joanna admitted they did have all info, however, they refused to pay the 6 month old invoices because we were not accepting more jobs. In the back ground I can here Alreese on another phone call telling a vendor they needed to reduce their prices if they want to get paid. Then Joanna tells me she is my boss and I will do as she says or she will freeze our account so we never get paid. SCAM SCAM SCAM If you are a vendor, stay clear of this company. I am an AC vendor, if you want to know why "vendor" are "difficult" to work with imagine this. AC company comes to your home, submits repair quote to Choice Home Warranty and receives approval. Then when we submit invoice for payment, Choice Home Warranty decides they want to cut the agreed upon price by 60%. They refuse to pay vendors unless they continue to take service calls that the vendors are NOT receiving payment for. If your employer agreed to pay you a fare wage for the work you were hired to do, and you did the work as promised, would you continue to work for them if they negotiated that wage down 60%, then told you they would NOT pay you unless you continued to accept more work knowing they were going to continue to under pay you? If you said yes, you are an IDIOT.

This company is outrageous unprofessional and painful to work with. Don’t listen to sale’s people over the phone. They can try anything to get you signed up with contract and then starts ripping you off aggressively. Here is real life experience I just encountered with this company: I called up for central AC unit service and they sent technician to check. The technician told me the air handler on the attic is only 2.5 ton and the condenser is 5 ton. So they mismatch and not covered by warranty. The technician told me I need to replace entire system and costs 8 thousands dollars. So it kind believe what he said. And I also called Costco AC to come for estimate the cost. When Costco AC tech arrived and he immediately recognized that air handler is indeed 5 tons, so I called Choice Home service again to explain the mistake their technician made. Nobody care and believe what I said and they are very rude and unpatient over the long waiting phone call. I decided to cancel the contract. The phone waiting above 1 hour to speak to someone claimed to be the top Manager who is even worse and rude and told me that I cannot fully refund my money as per contract agreement. It is not fair to me to pay so much for getting nothing done and spend so Much my time to deal with the mistake they made on the claim. I will never ever call them again. I will have to dispute all charges through credit card company!

For a simple AC problem, I have called them more than 30 times. The staff was very rude. They just tried to pick up a random issue and say that it is not under warranty. I got my own technician and he said they totally lied about the problem of my unit, and the issue was something else. They played these games to not cover my unit and pretend the issue comes from a part that is not under warranty, however, the issue was something else and they wanted just to charge me extra. I gave them the contact information of the service professional, they called him and talked to him, after he clearly notified them of the incorrect diagnosis, they just hung up on him. After I insisted that they to call my technician again, they called him and he mentioned again that this issue is coming from a part that is covered by my contract, it was the time that they started making another excuse that I have not done my regular maintenances. I have always done my routine maintenances and my technician told them about fact that all the maintenance services have been done routinely. At the end the last person on the phone told me that they just don’t want to repair my AC for any other reasons, and he refrained from telling me what the problem is. EXTREMELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH Choice Home Warranty

I had a power issue my dishwasher went out due to hurricane Harvey. Choice sent out a electrician who stated that I needed a new dishwasher. I bought a new one on 9/30/2017 when it was installed by Sears technicians who checked the breaker box and the switch in it did not work due to NOT POWER. All of the other appliances work in the kitchen. The electrical company EDI Mechanical was called to come out again they will not check it unless I a single woman pull it out to the wall. The supervisor I spoke to at Choice Warranty today at 2 pm Andres stated I am out of luck because they will not coordinate with an appliance repair person and electrician to move the dishwasher out of the wall so the electrician can repair it and put the dishwasher back. He also stated he did not care if I contacted BBB, social media any other medial outlets or their corporate office. So I am left with a new dishwasher that does not work because of electrical issues. He told me he did not care they been reported before., On the BBB website it states call Tracy before you contact BBB. I called her three times and sent a letter NO response from her. They have terrible customer service zI do not recommend them

Very Bad experience. I filed this claim more than 40 days ago , I am totally frustrated . Technician visited 3 times after calling multiple times to Claims dept. of Choice and technician from MIRA HOME REPAIRS. Different Diagnosis at each visit 1) After 1st visit Coil need to be replaced. 2) After 2nd Visit regulator need to be replaced. 3) After 3rd Visit Glass has scratches from inside. So the final diagnosis from him after so many visits that Glass has scratches from inside. I fail to understand how come glass of cook top has scratches from inside. So he said you cannot view your coil working or not. Before his visit it was working sometime and after his visits, the outer rings of the coil completely stopped working. And claims department is not ready to listen and stating that glass is not covered under warranty policy. As per my view: The technician is not capable to fix the issue and he knows glass is not covered and Choice will close the issue. Choice claim department should understand there is no role of glass to flame the coil partially. If in case there is role of glass then it should complete stopped working not only outer circle why inner circle is working properly.
