I would rate them ten stars if I could. My AC went out (15 y.o.) and after some research I contacted two companies for replacement estimates. Ben Holt came to my home quickly and we discussed options for resolution. He carefully explained all my options specifically for my home; there were no hard sell tactics as opposed to the other company and the total cost was lower. As a result, mainly due to the manner in which Holt approached my needs, I purchased a new AC unit AND furnace. They were so professional in all of my interactions with them since; from the careful installations and service to some emergency plumbing repairs. I signed up for the service contract and I receive regular phone calls from them to set up a time for scheduled services. When I need additional work, they are very prompt. Their staff are very personable, polite and efficient. They do not spend my money on high cost advertising and I also like the fact that they are family owned. it is very reassuring to know that I can get help with one phone call; prompt, dependable, safe and reasonably priced. While I dealt with other local HVAC and plumbing companies, once I began working with Holt Plumbing & Heating I knew i would never work with any other company. I can not emphasize enough how reassuring it is to know I can depend on them and trust them to enter my home and efficiently and expertly perform service and repairs. Whenever I can, I talk with friends and strangers about my experences with Holt. They are the best company performing HVAC and plumbing that I have ever dealt with. I will always turn to them first whenever I need any of the diverse services that they perform. If you want to know you can trust a company and that their costs are very reasonalble, you should contact them immediately!

We bought a house 3 years ago that had been occupied by an older couple for 15 years. They did not use the downstairs toilet or shower nor the guest bathroom, so when our family which consists of 5 kids moved in and starting using these things, plumbing problems arose. They came the day I called them, gave me an estimate, and fixed everything to brand new condition. When our old furnace decided to quit running, they were also there same day, got it up and running temporarily, and then gave me a competitive bid on a complete new HVAC system. I was also very pleased that they came back on their own without being told and made sure both the furnace and a/c were working properly. They were able to do all this work in a day as well as keep our white carpet clean. As a bonus they installed a new sump pump, washing machine faucet and kitchen faucet that were giving us trouble. They can do/fix about anything in your house at a reasonable cost. Very satisfied, highly recommend.

I am a homeowner who started using the services of Holt Plumbing and Heating over 15 years ago. From the very first call, I noted how helpful the service receptionists were as I explained any problems. They sent technicians who were on time and well trained to fix the problems. Over the years since my first call, I have purchased the following products from Holt Plumbing and Heating for my home: A Ruud furnace and air conditioner, including a cover for keeping leaves and debris from blowing into the unit, a water heater and a Clear Wave water conditioning system to inhibit lime build-up in the pipes. I also purchased the program Holt offers for Maintenance Membership which entitles me to a discount on service calls and always covers two maintenance calls per year with filter replacement, and cleaning of the units I have purchased. I recommend that anyone in central and southern Iowa needing plumbing, heating or cooling help give Holt Plumbing and Heating a call.

We made a service call to Holt after a horrible experience with another company to get a second opinion. James and Ben M. came out to diagnose the issue with our furnace. They arrived on time and were incredibly polite while in my home. They took time to really investigate our issue and determine if there was anyway to repair our old furnace instead of having to replace it. James took the time to really explain everything he was doing while working on our furnace. He also seemed to genuinely enjoy his job and we felt we could trust both of them and their recommendations. We are comfortable inviting Holt back into our home and feel confident they will always be courteous and do a great job! I plan to recommend Holt to all of my friends and family for their heating and cooking needs!

I choose Holt to replace my 23 year old HVAC system primarily due their 40+ years of business experience and the many excellent reviews I read. Ben Holt visited my home to provide my cost estimate - unlike the two other companies I had received estimates from, Ben provided his estimate at the time of his visit. Holt installed my complete HVAC system in one day. Their 3-man crew were on-time, very professional from start to finish and my installation appears to have been done in a perfect way. Another thing I like about Holt is that they handle the registration of your equipment warranty and complete your MidAmerican rebate forms. Based on my experience, I recommend Holt for your HVAC needs.

I called with a specific problem, they came out and charged an $86 fee, did not fix the problem and had me sit through a sales pitch for items that they charge about $400 for that I found at Home Depot for 10% the price. I asked the lady that answers the phone for this company to have the plumber come out again and perform the work he said probably needed to be done and she was incredibly rude and yelled at me. Do business with this company at your peril, like previous reviewers I will reiterate that these people seem to be in the business of collecting inspection fees and not doing any plumbing if they can help it.

We called Holt after noticing that the A/C was not working properly on a very HOT day. From the moment I called on Friday at noon, I heard they were swamped with appointments, but after couple of different communications, each brief and professional, we set an appt. for the next afternoon (a Saturday.) Fortunately on Fri. Eve we heard back that an earlier AM appointment came available. Tyler arrived at 815 am Sat. morn and he fixed the capacitor within 15-20 minutes. Fast, Professional and Courteous! While no one likes to pay for repairs, it was reasonably priced.

Gary and Adam from Holt Plumbing and Heating installed a new heating and A/C system for us in January 2015. Our utility room was cleaner after they left than before they arrived. They took time to "tidy up" some sloppy wiring and gas line routing left by the guys who installed the previous system (not Holt Plumbing and Heating). Their pride in the quality of their work was evident. The system works excellent and Holt is now our choice for plumbing, heating and A/C repair and maintenance.

I gave them a call because my AC was not working. They were very friendly on the phone when I called for help, and they got me scheduled in right away. The Technician that came out to my house was very professional and had my AC up and running again in less than an hour. I have owned my home for over 16 years now and have had several different Heating and AC companies out to do work and Holt has been by far the best I have ever had work on my system. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was surprised when I looked at the low ratings on Yelp, think we have people who only enjoy complaining. I recently had a Holt technician out to my home to do an annual maintenance. Fantastic! He took the time to explain things to me, listened to my questions and gave good, thoughtful answers. He was very personable and made no attempts to upsell me or tell me I had problems. I would very much recommend Holt to anyone that asks. Way to go, Tyler!

HOLT IS AWESOME! I decided to flip my first house this last year. The whole process was very efficient from the scheduling call through the visit. Nick stopped by at his scheduled time, was very professional, and even was quiet because I had a sleeping baby. Recently had furnace and air replaced. Guys were clean, friendly and cleaned up after their work. Before they left made sure to show me how to operate the new thermostat and said to call if had any questions or problems. They also took care of rebate paperwork.
