October 2014. My husband and I were looking into getting prequalified for a mortgage with Deborah Holloway and her company Shelter Mortgage. On 10/6/14 I contacted Deborah Holloway and gave her our credit history and basic information. She ran our credit and said that due to an issue we would have to wait until December 12, 2014 to close on a loan, but that wouldn’t delay the prequalification process from starting. She told me to fill out a prequalification application on her website. On 10/7/14, the next day I sent her an email telling her I had completed the application and to let me know if she needed any more information. She called me later that afternoon asking about something on my husband’s credit report and if we knew about it and if we could look into it. My husband called and it was a loan and the item was showing as transferred, when he called the person he spoke to said it was closed, and was on his report in error and he would be flagging the item for removal. I called Deb on 10/8/14 and told her what we had found out, she told me to start a dispute with the credit reporting companies to speed up the process of removing the item. And I have done so. I told her that we had found a house and it was a foreclosure and the bank would begin to take offers on Saturday, October 11th, 2014 as the 7 day showing period was up. She asked for the property’s address, asking price and the real-estate agents name and number. I asked if we would know something before then, and she said she would look into it when she got back into the office. On 10/9/14 I emailed her and called her and left a message wanting to know the status. On 10/10/14 I called several times and left messages and I had my husband call her and he also left a message for her to call us back. On 10/11/14 the day we were supposed to put in our offer I called her one last time asking her if she had any information on our pre-qualification and again told her that we needed to know something today as today was the day offers were going in and she never called me back. Needless to say I lost the house. I am appalled at the customer service I have received from Deborah Holloway. I don’t understand how someone can do this. I am now worried that I have been taken advantage of. That I could be at risk for Identity theft or have been involved in some kind of scam. Our credit is excellent. Now I am very concerned. We have had dealings with loan officers and mortgage brokers before and we have never been treated this way, this is very unprofessional and no way to run a business. I don’t know what the reasoning is behind why she chose not to follow through with my application On 10/28/14 I sent the above letter to her superiors Vice President Natasha Cartagena Spencer and Vice President Kent Winkelseth and did not hear back from them until 11/18/2014 stating the same thing that due to an issue we would have to wait until December 12, 2014 to close on a loan. But they failed to mention why Deborah Holloway completely ignored my emails, phone calls and application. On a side note, the reason I waited so long to write a review was to see if our credit was compromised and if it was I was going to pursue legal action, as of right now, there has been no adverse actions on our credit due to our dealings with Deborah Holloway and Shelter Mortgage. But that still remains to be seen. Basically, PLEASE use someone else!

Rolando Garcia was WONDERFUL to work with! I cannot stress enough how easy he made the process of buying our first home. My Fiancé and I had many questions throughout the process, and Rolando was able to answer all of them in a way we could understand. He was available to contact outside of regular office hours, and even worked on our pre approval while on vacation, because he knew we were on a time crunch. Rolando was always very kind and really worked on our behalf. He even attended our closing. I would recommend Rolando Garcia to anyone buying a home if you want an easy and smooth process. He will not forget a detail. He will return all your calls and texts. He will answer any questions even if you ask them over and over, and he will encourage you in your decision to buy your home. Thank you Rolando! You did so much for us and we will not forget it!
