Very cool for the science buff/rockhound in the family. Magnificent giant petrified trees . But even if you are not a geek, it is a beautiful walk through the forest with a view of Mount Saint Helena. Make sure you take the guided tour. Our docent was very interesting, funny and well-versed on all the science around the petrified trees and all the beautiful nature along the path. You can buy little pieces of petrified wood in the gift shop. This was fascinating, relaxing and we really enjoyed it. Take a break from all your wine tours and get out and see how beautiful the forests are in this area.

One can see here many fossilized trees. These are located in the forest and were partially exposed or protrude directly out of the ground. The distance is short and doable by anyone. In the shop at the entrance you can buy when necessary parts of these trees.

Time spent is not sorry, though the trunks of trees and hit more dimensions than beauty. The territory of the park is small, go through the whole exhibition can be quite fast, there is a souvenir shop with fossils from different countries and regions.

Both my daughters (13 and 18) were fascinated by this. We took the 11 AM guided tour and the young man leading it was full of passion and knowledge. He loved what he was doing and it showed. He not only taught us about the petrified wood and how it was formed but also about the local trees and their importance in the area and how they have been used. I wish we could remember his name but he had a very pleasant English (possibly Scottish) accent. My whole family recommends this place.

Huge fallen trees that were petrified in round 1 mile position of trails have been some scattered. You can observe the appearance of huge tree has become mom stone. There is also a trail that is not available depending on the season, but a few tens of minutes to even walk slowly all. It is just a good feeling to detour.

Free parking. Friendly staff. Inexpensive. Lots of signs to learn about what your looking. Umbrellas avaidavle to borrow free if its sunny or rainy. Some of the trails were difficult for my kids stroller so wheelchair bound people would have a hard time

Interesting place near Napa. Our small group enjoyed the information provided by our guide, a nice young lady that was very entertaining and gave a lot more color. I recommend the guided tour as alone, you will not be able to learn as much as we did.

A nice short walk to see an amazing part of 3 million year old Nature. The petrified redwoods are simply majestic and the park has quite a number informative signs along the way. Be sure to catch a guide tour timing!

Quite expensive to look at some Stone trees. Did their full tour and wasnt at all excited by any of the information. Manzanita trees are pretty cool though. Good place for a picnic lunch I suppose.

This is one of the coolest parks I have ever been to. I have never seen another park like this where the trees have turned to stone over time! Very neat and good for children!

Another geological curiosity! A forest of redwoods got covered by a prehistoric eruption and then rediscovered by a Swedish explorer in the mid-19th century.

Great one mile trek through more petrified trees than I expected. Also, the lovely lady in the gift store gave Ricky a great book on prehistoric history.

We were underwhelmed. Perhaps expectations were too high, or maybe we should have tried a guided tour. It amounted to a nice hike in the woods.

Skip the "ash mountain". Been to the petrified forest in Arizona and that was my benchmark for expectations. Overpriced for the experience.

Small, not a lot to it. Took us awhile to figure out which were the petrified trees. A must see site, but kind of hard to find driving-wise.

Unfortunately not all trails could be accessed. Would have been nice to know in advance. Beside that amazing look at the petrified trees.

A small but beautiful stop in Napa Valley. It still needs more infrastructure to make it more accessible to people with special needs.

Interesting stop! $12 entry for adults seemed a bit pricey, but I have no idea how much it costs to keep a place like this up.
