I was in a car accident on November 1, 2013. I thought that it was going to be a cut and dry situation as the intersection was a two way stop, I arrived at the stop sign first and the other person arrived and put their signal on to make a left hand turn. I was going straight through the intersection. Once I saw there was no traffic in either direction, I proceeded through the intersection and the other driver made a direct left turn into my vehicle without attempting to stop. Due to the impact of the other car, I was injured, had to be extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital. I suffered severe spasm to my neck and back and had to endure painful physical therapy and adjustments. Her insurance company denied my claim, as she told them she was at the stop sign before me. I hired Portner and Shure as I knew I would not get very far with this matter on my own. Her insurance company refused to settle out of court, so we ended up going to trial in this matter. My Lawyer, Christina Ruhl, was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Not only were their offices always willing to speak with me when I needed them, and explained everything so I could easily understand, They realized that this was a serious accident and I could have been even more gravely injured had I not tried to avoid it. On the day of the actual trial, I was nervous as this was essentially a word against word case, but Christina assured me that we had a good strong case against the other individual, I had the truth on my side and was able to testify credibly. We won the lawsuit and received much more than I expected in the trial award. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone in need of legal services. This process for me was speedy, painless (as I was already in enough pain from the accident itself), and I received the outcome that I desired with the help of Christina Ruhl, Christine Airey, and Johnathon Portner. This was WELL worth the money, as I know that the other insurance company was really going to drag me through the mud!!! If you need a lawyer, THESE ARE YOUR GUYS!

After getting into my accident, i was unsure as to whom of which i should contact for legal purposes. I googled a few firms whom of which dealt with situations like my own. I saw a lot of great reviews for Portner & Shure so i decided to contact them and see if the hype was as good as the internet said they were. However, it wasnt...It was actually significantly better. I have had my fair share of usage with lawyers because of an array of reasons (work included) so i am very familiar with how the routine works. That being said, my experience was anything but routine. The entire staff was very polite and sympathetic to my situation all around. From the moment i walked in, until the very last time i walked out. Rebecca Deene worked very close with me the enitire time and consistently responded with haste anytime i had a question or concern. She was extremely knowledgable and more or less gave me the play by play of how things would work out. She was able to do this not only because she was experience, but also because of her commitment and faith in her team here. Christina Ruhl was my attorney. Where most lawyers fall short (i.e. prepping a client before a case being a major one), she excelled. She as well was extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job at prepping me for court. We more or less performed a mock trial multiple times prior to going to court just so that i would be prepared. The trial itself was just entertaining. She may come off as sweet, but she is a bulldog in court room. She knew exactly what to ask and how to ask. Her experience radiates when you see her in action. All in all, i highly recommend this firm.

After struggling for weeks to find a firm that would take my case, I stumbled upon Portner & Shure on AVVO (a search engine for lawyers). Portner & Shure got great reviews on AVVO and I decided to give them a call, I scheduled a meeting with Christina Ruhl and we sat down and spoke about my case, Christina explained that my case was complex and outlined all of the complexities of my case, and how she would address them in the upcoming months, her depth of knowledge about my case, along with her advice made me feel extremely comfortable about hiring Christina and Portner & Shure to handle my case. In the coming months Christina kept in constant touch with me, updating me about every detail of my case along with how things were progressing. I called Christina numerous times, she was always there to answer questions and ease any concerns I had, she even kept the office open late so I could drop off some documents after work! Hiring Christina Ruhl to handle my case was a great decision, it allowed me to have peace of mind knowing that my case was being handled by an extremely talented lawyer for a reasonable price. I got in a car accident caused by the negligence of a speeding car in the driveway at Maryland 100 in September 2015. The fault of the other driver was admitted. The incident seemed to solve amicably. But one months later, the medical expenses exceeded what insurance would pay my body still had pain. I scheduled a consultation with Portner & Shure at their Columbia, MD location. We were quickly taken care of by Norma, who listened and documented what occurred during our auto accident. After hearing our story and where we were in the process, she consulted with an attorney colleague and they both advised us that it was simply not in our best interest to have them handle the case - we would make more money by settling it ourselves. I admired their transparency and they advised us how to best negotiate with the Auto Insurer. Johnathan Portner, the Managing Partner, even came in and sat down with us to explain his view on the matter. The man probably bills out at $800+ dollars an hour, but he was willing to sit down and talk to us all day! If anything ever happens, god forbid, this is where I will seek out representation - without a doubt!

I was a little hesitant at first because I had never been involved in an accident nor have ever been in court. The accident was clearly not my fault. I had an accident 9/2015 and had a free consultation. The paralegal Rebecca seemed nice and I thought she knew what she was talking about so I made the mistake of choosing Portner and Shure to represent me in my claim. I have never met nor spoken to the lawyers and the case was handled by two horrible paralegals who did not even answer my email or phone calls. I had to ask the receptionist to speak directly to the lawyer for the paralegal to return my call for close to a month. Rebecca even gave me an attitude when she spoke to me after asking to speak to the lawyer. It was the most frustrating situation I have ever faced. The law firm also did not hold true to their promise of getting my car fully fixed as Rebecca the paralegal working on the case stated. I would not recommend this law firm to my worst enemy.

Horrible experience with them in my Virginia Wirkers Compensation Case. After 15 months of practically doing everything wrong in my caseI finally fired them. I hired this firm because I thought I was hiring Jonathan Portner who is a good lawyer by reputation but got stuck with his mediocre colleague Kevin Ruby that handles his Virginia Workers Compensation Cases. They take on more than they can handle. I went to Avvo and hired an awesome 10 Rating lawyer Bryan G. Bosta. Since then my stress level has been relieved by having proper representation. So Portner & Shure in my opinion shouldstick to Maryland personal injury cases only. They suck!!!
