Based on my experience I would recommend H.C. Blake Co to anyone for HVAC replacement. Installation was just completed 4 Ton 17 SEER dual stage Air Conditioner with Split 5 ton 96% efficient dual stage gas furnace/air handler from Amana. The gas has not yet been turned on by Huntsville Utilities (hopefully soon) but the Air Conditioner works great and is very quiet. The system replaced a 20 year old Heil all electric heating/cooling system, requiring installation of 60 feet of 1 1/4 inch cast iron gas pipe through the attic and down two floors to the garage and an exhaust flu from the garage to the roof. The workmanship was exceptional, with no noticeable change to the appearance of the house. John and Johnny the installers and Julio who helped with the plumbing of the gas pipe should be proud of their work. I am also please with my initial contact and follow-up with Andrew, did a thorough job showing me the options and who came up with the idea of running the gas pipe through the attic and down through a closet. Ivan, also influenced my decision to select H.C. Blake by helping me decide on the roof vent for the gas instead of going with a horizontal vent. Cost, reliability and competence were important factors in my decision to select HC Blake. Amana has a phenomenal lifetime warrantee on the compressor and the air handler, better than any other product I considered. I asked for quotes from three companies. One handling Lenux, one handling American Standard and HC Blake with Amana. The Lenux solution was the cheapest, but I was concerned for reliability of the compressor. The quote was very thorough. I was told that for the 10 year compressor warrantee to be effective, I would have to put in larger coolant lines. All components had a 10 year warrantee. The American Standard cost was about $500 less than the HC Blake solution with 10 year warrantee of the equipment. I actually like the American Standard equipment. The American Standard solution would have included gas pipe through the attic (borrowed from the HC Blake Solution) and a horizontal exhaust vent. Also, the furnace/air handler quoted was a 4 ton unit, whereas the HC Blake unit was a 5 ton unit. The American Standard quote was provided to me on a hand written carbon copy document. The description of work to be performed was minimal. What made HC Blake stand out was the very thorough evaluation .
H.C. Blake has earned my five stars. My HVAC unit needed replacing and in the search for a very good, dependable company to purchase another, I interviewed over 7 companies over a period of 15 months. H.C. Blake made several attempts to repair the old unit but we finally decided the cost to repair was not worth it so we purchased a new unit. Over the course of the 15 months, H. C. Blake came to our home to discuss our options, based on our need and expectations, more than four times, they were always very patient, very professional and caring. Although their price was a little higher than at least 3 of the 7 companies that we interview, but the cost was well worth it. They nor we ever used the price bidding war tactics to make a decision . We told them what we wanted from a HVAC service, about the issues with the previous unit, they listened and made a recommendation to fit our needs. My salesman was AWESOME, AWESOME!. After we confirmed that they were our selection, our salesman did not stop there even after paperwork was signed. On the day of installation, he came shortly after the installers to make sure everything went as we discussed, even some that were discussed earlier in the process. Although they had the work order, but he wanted to make sure everything was clear and went smoothly. They were very prompt from the office administrators, to the salesman, to the installers. After installation, we got a call to make sure everything went well and to our satisfaction. I worked in customer service for over 30 years and know the true meaning of GOOD customer service. H.C. Blake did exceed our expectations. 100% YES!!
H.C. Blake Company sent John Alan and Scott to install our new heating and Air unit. These two young men were very respectful and courteous. Both them, and a couple others originally sent to help, did a tremendous job of installing all new duct work under the house and the unit. The whole crew worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done right. Most young people waste too much time on their cell phones rather than working but not with this crew; if they were on their cell phone it was a lunch break and even then they were checking in with work- so it was a work related call. The knowledge and professionalism displayed by the crew is impressive and we totally appreciate them, the hard work they do, and the fact that we are greatly enjoying a cool house to sleep and live in rather that a blistering 95 degrees to battle! Thank you again to Ivan and the John and Scott crew from H.C. Blake company- they are lucky to have all of you as employees as you represent H.C. Blake very well and truly care about your customers. I, the customer, have a husband who works elsewhere in construction so... if you are a future customer show these guys a little appreciation please; they do the hard jobs we do not want or cannot do! A little lunch or home baked goods is a nice treat once in a while!
We have had two very good servicemen from your company. Preston quickly came out in July to fix our must needed AC. He quickly located the problem, cleaned the drains on both of our units and made sure that everything dealing with the HVAC units were in good working order. We signed up for the HVAC checkup program with him. Even though the units are only 6 years old, they need this checkup to make sure they are running efficiently all year long. If we had of had the program, we would not have been our of AC. We are going to keep this AC checkup program to make sure that our HVAC units are working efficiently all year long. Today Andrew came out to fix a leak on our goose-neck kitchen faucet. He discovered Black Mold growing under my sink and sprayed it with a natural spray to kill the mold. He also checked the water lines and garbage disposal for any leaks, since there had been leaks there in the past. I had him to replace the old hard water lines with flexible lines. He replaced the washers on the faucet and made sure there were no more water leaks. I really appreciate his friendly attitude and taking care of more than just the faucet problem. H. C. Blake has always given good service to their customers and has friendly, efficient servicemen.
Call HC Blake first! My aging AC started leaking coolant and needed to be serviced. I initially called a different company that came out the next day and after a diagnostic check found that my evaporator coils had multiple leaks. I decided to go ahead and replace the whole system instead wasting money on repairs and freon for such an old system. However the company quoted a very high price for a new system and they insisted on replacing my 2 Ton unit with a 3 Ton unit. This seemed questionable and after consulting with other professionals in the business I called HC BLAKE. Searcy came out on a Friday afternoon before a weekend holiday to take a look at my system. He was patient and answered all of my questions. His quote beat the competition by thousands of dollars and that was with enlarging my system by a 1/2 ton, increasing the return size, running larger copper coolant lines, new wiring, and upgrading my air handler drainage. Two working days later Johnny and John A. arrived at my house to install my new system. They did a very professional job and paid close attention to details. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful to our home. We are very satisfied and will continue to use AC Blake for any air conditioning needs in the future.
This review is for electrical work performed by Steve and Jackson, two excellent members of the HC Blake service team. We had two circuits added to our breaker box and a re-wire of our attic and craw space to support multiple dehumidifier and sump pump devices. I found Steve very professional, attentive to my requests and a trusted advisor of how the electrical should be configured. Both he and Jackson were very polite and efficient in their work. Jackson demonstrated excellent customer service and engagement and was professionally concerned about our (my wife and my) opinion on the way the work was progressing and if things were being done to our expectations. I appreciated this professional attitude that was displayed by both Jackson and Steve. I would definitely come back to HC Blake and ask for Steve and Jackson on any future electrical work that we may require. It was a pleasure working with them. Our job, albeit large in scope from our perspective, was quoted at a fair price and was completed in a very timely and efficient manner.
I have relied on HC Blake on many occasions for plumbing, AC, and insulation work. They are by far the most responsive, reliable and honest plumbing and HVAC company in town. We completely remodeled our house a few years ago and I requested HC Blake perform all the plumbing work for our contractor. The contractor uses them regularly and said they do great work. They performed as expected and we have used them on multiple other occasions. Not only do they do good work, but they engage and offer expert advice. The owner of the company recommended I use foam insulation instead of batt, and he did calculations to show the cost difference as well as a free energy audit to show the potential energy savings. We also had an old AC that died, and used HC Blake to completely replace our system. This happened over a 4th of July holiday weekend, and they had a technician over in 30 minutes (during the holiday) to help us cool our 100 degree house. If you need plumbing or HVAC services, they are the best in town!
I called H.C. Blake to have a mini split air condition installed. The office folks we very polite and set me up an appointment to have an estimate and quote made. On the day before my appointment the office called to verify time and date, that was awesome that they reverify. On the day of the appointment the estimator called to verify time and location, awesome again. The estimator was on time and prepared to provide cost, installation time and date of installation. On the day of installation the installers where right on time, performed installation, showed me everything and how to work remote control, very nice. I would like to thank the office folks for a great experience, estimator for being on time and knowledgable and able to provide cost and schedule, I would like to thank installers Johnny & Julian for there installation expertise and being professional. My overall experience was out standing, I am glad I chose H.C. Blake for my a/c installation.
On April 29th 2015 H.C. Blake Technicians Dennis and Adrian arrived on time at 8:00 AM to replace ducting insulation for our entire Heating/AC system. They both were very polite and respectful of us and our old house. Before entering they put on blue booties to not track any outside dirt in before they started their job. Once they entered they explained what they were going to do. The old ducting was a mess. It had been ripped to pieces by rodents. This had caused our system to run poorly. After completing their job they gave us a walk thru of what was done. We were very pleased with their service. The system is running so much better. My Wife was impressed when she arrived home to see them vacuuming up the hallway. Which made her very happy. We had joked earlier in the morning to see if they would clean up all the mess to her satisfaction. Over all we were very pleased with service and will be using H.C. Blake again. As well as recommending to friends.
I called H.C. Blake to arrange for HVAC service a week or so ago. The front office was great to work with and called in advance to inform me when a technician was available (I gave them an open window for my appointment), by the time I arrived Preston was there waiting. He performed my summer service and I’m pretty sure he did a more thorough job than either of the two previous companies I’d hired had done. He took before and after pictures of the coils inside and showed me the difference…wow, the coils looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since the early 80’s, but they’re shiny now. Along with coil cleaning, he cleaned the entire unit, inspected my heat exchange for cracks, and performed all the other required inspections in a very timely and professional manner. I signed up for the bi-annual service, which was priced better than the other companies I’ve used, and will request Preston next time. I will definitely recommend H.C. Blake to others.
