I recently moved into a renovated house and quickly realized that I had a moisture issue in the downstairs/basement level. I could feel it in the air and furnishings and what I read about moisture issues online scared me. I was initially referred to another company but found that they only did structural remediation (cracks in foundation and that sort of thing) but they told me Environix was what I was looking for. I needed a moisture detective who was going to help me figure out why the downstairs felt damp, help me understand any impact of the issue to hum,ans and pets living in the house and explain what my options were for addressing it. Environix sent out Michael Croston. Michael was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. All the good stuff you want someone in this line of work to be. He was also sensitive to the fact that we have 2 skittish dogs in the house who were not at all excited about us having a visitor. Michael patiently conducted a thorough series of tests and answered all my questions along the way. He also gave me additional insight to things he saw while he was conducting the tests; things that could help me increase our comfort in our home. He advised that he would be completing a report based on all of the findings and that the report would have the final determination, but he also took the time to talk through some of the things that typically resolve issues like mine. A few days later I got the report and now have a plan to address the issues (for us, it looks like inadequate ventilation is a big part of it). The report includes recommendations for what should be done now and other things to keep an eye on. It also includes air quality data, which is helpful to anyone who wants to have a healthy environment. I have been really happy with my experience with this company - there was no up-selling or pitching or anything like that. Just a really simple and clear experience with a knowledgeable professional. Even the gal who initially set up the appointment for me spent quite a bit of time on the phone chatting with me about moisture issues. A+ experience with them from beginning to end.

We own a home in Seattle and called Environix to come in and test the air quality throughout our house (and check ceiling for asbestos). Our main concerns were mold but we have some health issues in the family and wanted everything checked out. I talked to Kathy and she gave me a lot of information and some suggestions and very good at explaining what we would be getting for the cost. I received an email from her before the visit that was very helpful. The person doing the testing was Dan and he came exactly when he was suppose to. He spent over an hour checking out our house. He let me follow him every step of the way explaining every thing he saw and was looking at. I had endless questions and I felt that he was very patient with me. Dan explored every nook and cranny of the house, attic, basement and even went out on the roof to look at some peeling siding. The report that we received was very comprehensive. Dan called and explained everything gave recommendations and offered to help us with assessing HVAC contractors. I felt the information that we were given was complete and worth the cost. Honestly, I cannot say enough about Environix except for I wished we called them two years ago when we bought the house. If you are having any concerns or you feel like maybe your house is making you sick do yourself a favor and call them.

My wife and I moved into a new house recently. There was a bad and persistent smell in one part of the house. It got worse in hot weather. Was it mold? A dead rat? Something worse? After a web search we found Environix. We called another competing company who recommended that in our situation, i.e., a bad smell of unknown origin, we should hire Environix. We did. Their inspector arrived on time. He was very sharp, well-informed, and thorough. He found our problem quickly (sewer gas venting into our house from an open pipe in a crawlspace). Within 3 days he emailed us a complete report. In addition to recommending that we cap the sewer pipe (We did. It worked.), this report contained several additional recommendations about how to strongly improving the ventilation in our house at a modest cost. We are completely satisfied with Environix’s service and will use them again.

Tim was professional and provided detailed description of procedures and expectations before hand. This was extremely helpful. Afterwards, he explained how we could better make our home environmentally safe in specific areas noted during inspection. Within 3 days, we were sent more follow-up about lab results to include easily readable charts, and exlaination on each room. Cost was more than we expected, but feeling due diligent was done. We now feel much safer. Definitely worth the cost.
