I reasearched insurance options on December 12, 2016, chose 3 plans from MCHO that I wanted to choose from, nowhere on the Healthcare marketplace, certainly not on the plans or in the deadline area did it say that MCHO was closing enrollment early. I went back today (Jan 31, which was the date that was listed as the deadline) to enroll in the plan I decided to go with and found that they were no longer available on the marketplace. I did a google search and found that MCHO had made this announcement on Dec 9, 2016 that they would only allow enrollment through the martketplace until Dec 25, 2015 and I strongly feel that this inormation should have been disememinated throughout the marketplace and should have been noted on each plan that the new deadline would apply to. I tried to call MCHO but was unable to get through because they are closed today. I called the marketplace, and spoke with a woman who informed me that there were a few insurance companies that were no longer offering plans through the marketplace. I even spoke with her supervisor to see if there was anything they could do and they said that this was out of their control. It was very important for me to sign up for insurance with MCHO because there is a clinic I have been going to for almost 10 years and they are the only insurance company contracted with them. I am so disappointed that this information was not given to me. How am I to make an educated and timely decision on healthcare if the information and deadlines given to me are not correct?

Really 0stars !!!!! We had Maine community health sense September 2015. They sent every "bill" late postmark would be (example) November 14th with a bill in side due November 1st....ummm ok, we paid by checks then and needed the return envelope. Not once was the bill sent for the first of the month we were canceled due to "late" payment, fine. I reenrolled 2016-2017 I went for the automatic withdrawal from checking account. March 2017 I had a issue with my card and needed to get a new one. I sent in the payment by mail in by personal check with the total dollard amount, except I forgot the cense , yup .34 cense. They canceled my coverage due to "non payment In full" June of 2017, iv spoke with the number of times before June due to their constant messesups with your pharmacy, they accepted all payments and covered us after the march messup (till not aware of the nonpayment of .34 cense) no one ever told us about this non full payment not in a bill not over the phone Nothing, they claim they sent notice but we never received one and they stand by the cancellation. My husband needs life saving prescriptions and now we are left paying 1000 of dollars this in perceptions and dr bills ! Do not enroll with them, they stink! The worst !!!!! I would have paid the f******* .34cense if one of the members would have said somthing or even a paper bill!! Nothing!!!

We signed up for Community Health Options bc it is a small, not for profit health care company. Unfortunately, this year we have had such a horrendous experience with them that we will be leaving. We are still in the midst of dealing with 25 outstanding claims dating back to 2/15 on an out of network provider. The same dates of service have been processed and reprocessed multiple times and yet it is not being applied to our out of network deductible and they have yet to be processed correctly. We have been calling regularly for months trying to sort out the situation and get 2 simple questions answered and cannot get an answer, even when dealing with a supervisor. Multiple times we have been told by supervisors that they will call us back on a specific day with the answer, only to have the days come and go with no call. The problem is still not sorted out and it is now 9 months later. On top of that, we pay for the gold package and still have high deductibles and no coverage for yearly eye exams in a family where 4/5 of us wear glasses. We are frustrated, furious and fed up.

Only in the USA can you charge $700 plus.per month Silver PLAN yet cover nothing for HC. Because the deductibles get u in the end. MCHO includes an eye exam every two years ,but the yearly deductible is $500. You are covered, but u aren/t. So the reality is U pay for that. Your decuctible resets to Zero every Jan 1. My previous HCI HARVARD PILgrim did cover them as part of preventive 100%. I am missing my HARVARD PILGRIM PLAN. All that nonsense about it being for Maine People. BLah BLah BLah. Its just another vulture company feasting on the rotting carcass they call Health CARE in this country. And the govt gave $$$ to set this monster up!!!..... Its a non profit? Really? Thanking Almighty God ,Jehovah,ALLAH and BUddha I am going on MEDicare shortly and can ditch this less than adequate coverage.. By the way,Maine Community Health Options is now Community Health Options. They are hoping to expand and bring their inadequate coverage to other states??? What? No Comment by the owner? What I say is 100% true.!!!!

I think the service is great, Nikki calls me back every time and answers all my questions, the problem lies in the fact that I do not like her answers regarding the coverage (or LACK OF) that this policy from Maine Community Health offers. I have NEVER heard of a co-pay and a co-insurance payment...than the kicker is the referral to a specialist, which is what every primary doctor does is refers you to a specialist, well the co-pay for a specialist is $75.00, with terrible coverage after that, and I am told we have the better or best policy that this Maine Community Health offers...you get what you pay for give me Anthem, AEtna, or Martins Point with the regular co-pay period!!! , The extra charges and lack of payment for the many other aspects of MY care is just unacceptable. In summary this insurance basicallyis a policy to show the government saying you have insurance, but it is NOT in the same category as a GOOD healthcare insurance. Box checked, I have a healthcare insurance, and I wished I had a GOOD one!!!!

I enrolled in health insurance with his company, with a 5$ monthly premium and 288$ tax credit payment. They cancelled my policy before the end the second month I had the insurance, after receiving the 288$ for the month, without ever notifying me of the cancellation, claiming that I was late on the 5$ payment. I called a few months late and was told by a representative that they had never received any payments at all, a complete lie. I had seen this poor reviews, but did not take notice. DO NOT get health insurance through this company! If it seems to good to be true it is. This company does not have a national reputation to uphold and will do all it can to take advantage of customers. Be cautious. I wish there was more I could do to fight against this immoral company.

I had Community Health Options for my insurance coverage last year. I have since moved on because I have acquired a better insurance for 2017. During the month of January 2017, I have placed 4 calls to CHO to try and inform them of enormous fraudulent overcharges by a chiropractor in Portsmouth, NH. NO ONE RETURNS MY CALLS! They need to address fraudulent charges. This particular Portsmouth chiropractor has overcharged CHO approximately $1030.00 for services that NEVER HAPPENED. Fraudulent overcharges on our bills are why our rates continue to increase. If medical professionals go unchecked, then we, as consumers, are all going to have to pay the price. CHO should look into this immediately and address these issues in order to keep our rates in check.

Was forced to sign up for insurance and this appeared to be the best option for us or our government was going to embezzle money from me. Signed up with them paid the initial payment of over $650.00. My wife and I went to a seminar that they hosted which was absolutely useless. After they had our money we never received anything from them at all, no bill, no cards nothing. After about six weeks I get a letter from them stating they were being cancelling for non-payment. We never got any literature from them period. just figured the first big payment paid the first 2 months. Called them and tried to explain and they would have nothing to do with me. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. I will allow the federal government to embezzle from me instead

I called in December 2014, January 2015, and February 2015 to try to make arrangements for my monthly premium to be deducted from my checking account. Each time I hung up I believed I was all set. But as of the close of business March 3 2015, my monthly premium for March had not been deducted from my account, and so I will need to call a fourth time. (To make things worse, there appears to be a glitch on the website preventing me from accessing the online payment page.) Given that this organization is so inefficient in collecting dues that I have repeatedly tried to pay them, I have major concerns about what will happen when I need them to pay a bill for my medical care.

Worst than terrible service. I tried for 2 months to enroll with this company under a special circumstances clause in which I had 60 days to enroll. I have only days left on the 60 day period. I have called nearly 10 times, over the last 2 months, faxed several applications, tried applying online, waited on hold for hours, talked to numerous reps, waited for weeks for my "packets" to arrive, only to be told each time my application has not been received. The call center appears to not have access to the enrollment center so one hand has no idea what the other is doing. I would give this company negative stars if I could. Absolutely terrible.

MCHO has been wonderful for my husband and me. We are self-employed and have paid astronomical premiums for high deductible plans for years. Their plans are affordable, copays are low and all preventive care like mammograms are free. One thing I would note is that one time when I called and asked the staff person questions about whether some testing was covered under the Affordable Care Act they gave me incorrect info. If you have this kind of question call Consumers for Affordable Health Care - they know EVERYTHING about health care in Maine.

I have now twice requested a cancellation form because I switched plans this year. I was on hold for 55 minutes before anyone was available to speak to. She said she would email me the cancellation form and I still have not received it! I have however been billed for two policies!! My providers run into issues with this company as well and bills have to be returned and resolved. For the money this company receives and what it pays out, one would think they could afford to provide better service and at least answer the damn phone.

This is a living, breathing example of the failure of the Affordable Care Act, a cancer on health care. It is not insurance, it is a taxpayer funded boondoggle designed to take money from people who pay their way and redistribute it to those who do not. Coverage is lousy, customer service non-existent. It also lost more than $17 MILLION by December of 2015, per a Bangor Daily News report. IT WILL, LIKE EXCHANGES IN OTHER STATES CREATED BY ACA, BE GOING BELLY UP SOONER THAN LATER. Stay away.

The most competitive rates but definitely see the GROWING PAINS that new Maine-based health insurance company MCHO is experiencing going up against institutions like Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim & Anthem. Their paperwork is SLOW and website glitchy, but they do make up for it some with friendly local customer service. 2016 UPDATE = After hearing about financial troubles and possible bailout, it seems MCHO will keep going and will continue operating into 2017.

The service is incredible!!. Each person that has helped us has been thorough, kind, knowledgeable, and so very helpful with each question and step. We are so thankful and grateful to have affordable health insurance and a company that takes time to truly help their customers. We are recommending MCHO to everyone we know. Thank you Maine Community Health Options for EVERYTHING!!!

Terrible customer service still waiting over a month for my ID card but received an invoice in the mail for my second month of service. Whenever I try calling them after I get out of work, I spend an hour on hold until they disconnect me at their closing time without any explanation. If I try calling back I just get a message saying they are closed!

When you have questions concerning health insurance that you pay for services, do not waste your time to expect to talk to a customer service representative. I have called four times with no less that a Q of 26 and never got down to a Q time less than 17. By the way, from Q 26 to Q 17 took only twenty two minutes TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
