I have worked with several mortgage brokers and banks in the past. If you’ve done the same, you know the drill. Give them documents and then give them the same ones again and then again. I swear there is a black hole in underwriting that swallows documents. They were never very proactive either. You’d think every transaction was the first one they’d ever done. Things drag out forever because they don’t anticipate questions, or problems, that will come from underwriting. I’ve purchased three homes and found brokers always over promise and under deliver. Then we met Jodi. The circumstances couldn’t have been much worse. We were renting a home that we intended to purchase within the next six months, and had given the owner a sizable escrow deposit up front. We found out on November 30th that we had to close on the house by December 31st or we were going to lose our deposit, lose the lock on the house selling price and possibly have to vacate the house. Oh, did I mention that we barely had the money for closing? It was not a happy day when we met with Jodi on December 1st. She looked through all our documentation and asked very good questions. She anticipated everything that would come up in underwriting and made sure she understood our circumstances. She also informed us up front that she was going on vacation out of the country the following week. She assured us that she would stay in touch and her team could handle anything that came up in her absence After she went through everything, she said “I don’t see any reason we can’t close this in 20 days.”. Although she was incredibly nice and professional, to say we had doubts would be a serious understatement. We were terrified. She pushed everything through the system as quickly as she could making sure that everything was there that would be required. Although she was no longer in the US, and in a completely different time zone, she checked in regularly. Her team back at the office stayed in constant contact, and made only a few more requests that were processed immediately. They were thorough and answered any and all questions that I threw at them with patience and honesty. We signed the closing documents on December 19th. One day earlier than she anticipated. I am in awe of her capabilities. She knows what she’s doing and she doesn’t waste anyone’s time. If the mortgage can be made, Jodi will make it happen. If you are considering other brokers or your bank, don’t bother. Jodi and Academy Mortgage are that good.

When Fiancé and i started looking for a home to purchase we did not know where to start. so we went to a realtor first, and are realtor Chris Kelsey sent us to Jim Misner and his team. we could not have asked for a better team being first time home buyers. Jim set us down for are first meeting and told us everything we needed to gather and have ready for are home purchase. when that was ready we met with Jim what feels like a bi daily basis. any time we had a question we were able to get a hold of him by email text or phone. at one point in are purchasing journey we had a problem with an appraiser going MIA and he and his team did every thing in there power to correct the problem with getting us a new appraiser. my Fiancé and i are both very thankful for Jim and making this purchase the lease stressful it could have been by having Jim and his team by us all the way tell we after every paper was signed and the house was ares. we will definitely be going back to Jim for any future needs weather refinancing or buying are next home.

They are great representatives for your Company...and as it turns out, a couple of VERY decent people as well. Candi was detailed and professional. Good humored and diligent in a process that can easily be intimidating. Jevon was awesome...guiding the ship through the figurative icebergs. As someone who lived and worked in an age before computers and the Internet grew to dominate...it sometimes takes gentle guidance for someone "of age" to navigate the process. Jevon and Candi were that and more. I have bought and sold homes as my family has moved and grown over the years. Thanks to Jevon and Candi, this was our best experience with a mortgage company by far!!

Found Academy Mortgage online and decided to call. I actually got to speak to a live person, which was nice in this day of push button menus. Everyone was very pleasant to deal with. After speaking with a loan agent, I have decided to improve my credit score a bit before I get a loan. It is very nice to not have someone pressure you into doing something right now, and feeling like they care about your long term situation. Will definitely be using Academy Mortgage in Vancouver when I am ready.
