Very well done memorial. The four rooms representing his terms do a great job of telling the story of his evolving and complicated presidency. The statue of FDR in the wheelchair was a blatant miss when it opened originally but has been corrected. Any memorial of him that does not address his disability is not honoring the full picture of the man. The inclusion of Eleanor is totally appropriate and should be expanded. As important as it was, she was more than an international diplomat and women’s advocate. She saw the greatness in him, and pushed him to become the compassionate statesman everyone remembers. Without her, FDR would have never entered public office after his paralysis.

Of all of the memorials in Washington, DC, I personally favor this one. The attention to detail, and design of the memorial not only presents what FDR stood for, but also what was happening in the world when he was our President. The memorial takes visitors through the four terms FDR had in office. Each term features a water structure that somehow symbolizes his time in office. Having visited this memorial when I was thirteen or so, I was surprisingly captured by this. Compared to the other memorials on the Mall, this memorial continues to bring back thought provoking memories, and I look forward to going back.

One of my favorite memorials in DC. Peaceful with lots of shaded areas and benches to sit at to escape the sun. The memorial is next to the tidal basin with great views of both the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. It is a great stop in the spring while experiencing the cherry blossoms, and spectacular to visit at night. It is also one of the hot spots to catch Pokémon in the city. Public restrooms onsite are available but are closed later in the evening.

Bias Alert: F.D.R. is by far my favorite President. The memorial for F.D.R. is an open space meant for strolling and enjoying the outdoors. From beginning to end, you follow him on his history making journey and read his inspirational quotes. Though a President who wanted little in ways of a Memorial, it is inspiring for a new generation to read his words and realize the triumph of persistence over self-doubt and the spoken word over ignorance.

I cannot stress enough that this memorial is HUGE! The stonework and plaques are beautiful but this thing never ends! Highlights are really the statue at the entrance (FDR in wheelchair), the dog, and the "four poor dudes" statue. The last is mandatory that you stand in as the fifth dude in the lineup. It would help you to blend in if you had some metallic paint to cover yourself with but how well you want to blend is up to you.

Really recent monument. I wish I had realized what side it started on success they laid it out by term and we started from the end. Even so, it was enjoyable and really did a good job of hitting on pivotal moments in his presidency and included many great quotes. They had a separate spot and statue for Eleanor as well. We went when the fountains were off, but I imagine it would have been even more amazing had they been on.

A very large monument without a very clear story or learning objective. Seemed more like a modern art exhibit featuring FDR. Still worth going to, but not a must see. The MLK Jr memorial is very close by, and it is a much more interesting site to visit. It would probably be wise to get a few pamphlets or take a guided tour to make your experience more worthwhile.

My favorite memorial. The complex is great statues same thing every detail and quotes Roosevelt. It is one of the least visited but the most attractive

The national mall is filled with amazing monuments and the FDR monument is no different. A set of waterfalls and sculptures located between MLK and Thomas Jefferson monuments, the FDR monument does its best to give a small glimpse into the times that FDR inhabited. Fireside chats, WWII, and the depression are all referenced here.

A very interesting Memorial with quotes, waterfalls and stone art. Impressive statues of Roosevelt and the time period. See one of his customized wheelchairs in the gift shop. It was raining a bit when we went which added an interest effect. Of course the quotes remind you how they are as relevant now as then.

I like the design of this memorial. It tells a story. There are memorable sculptures and unexpected ones. (I am glad the dog got memorialized). Very pleasant location--somewhat off the beaten path but the walk around the tidal pool is well worth it, for this memorial and the other memorials and views here.

The FDR Memorial is set up chronologically throughout his years of Presidency. Throughout the complex are inspirational, profound, and though provoking quotes by FDR. Statues, water features, and stone formations add to the depth/impact the Great Depression and World War II formed his Presidency.

The second most beautiful Memorial in DC. Contrary to what one expects. I was begistert. Number one is of course the Vietnam Memorial.

This is not a regular memorial. It is a park like setting that continues down a path. You learn about our president and his wife. His accomplishments and his private struggles with health. Probably one of my favorite memorials in the city. The walk around the lake is enjoyable.

The FDR Memorial is part of the National Mall and should definitely be scheduled at a Washington visit with!

This was a surprisingly thoughtful exhibit. It is simple and delivers a powerful message. You can read all the inscribed quotes and such, but being able to actually sit there and soak it all in is fantastic. I recommend going in the summer when all the fountains are running.

Gorgeous memorial along the tidal basin and if you are a Pokemon Go player, this is the spot for lures and pokemon. If you need a quiet setting, right now, this would not be your ideal location due to the influx of tourists and visitors due to Pokemon...fair warning.

Definitely worth checking out. Probably not highest priority though for things to see in the city. But worth making the time if you are able. Also watch House of Cards, it puts the Eleanor Roosevelt parts into interesting perspective in how the monument is laid out.

The FDR Memorial is not as grand as some of the others. Instead, it is deep and contemplative. Many of FDRs famous sayings are engraved in the walls. There is running water everywhere. Make sure you dont miss this monument. It is one of the best.

Probably the nicest park in Washington. Calm, practically free of tourists. A well thought out and full of quotations.

Very nice fountains, displays with water, quotes, and memorable sayings by FDR. Great walk next to the Tidal Basin and nice shaded area to escape from the sun. Lots of areas to sit on benches. Especially busy lately with tourists playing Pokemon Go.

My first time visiting this monument this past month. What an amazing tribute, I had no idea it was here. His many famous quotations were engraved around the monument. The fountains were not on, but I imagine even more breathtaking when they are.

The FDR Memorial is my favorite of the DC memorials because it showcases the story of the time period when FDR served. Befitting FDR who did so much for US national parks, the memorial features many benches, waterfalls, trees, and green spaces.

Beautiful memorial and park. Very open and scenic of the surrounding DC landmarks such as the MLK memorial, Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument. The park is clean and kept very nice. Staff and rangers are very friendly and helpful.

This is my favorite memorial in DC. The length and difference between each section of the memorial is enjoyable and thought provoking. Definitely a lovely and different memorial amongst all the other ones that are just so grand and opulent.

Besides commemorating one of our greatest presidents, this is one of the best places to catch pokemon in DC. On any given weekend afternoon, there are several lures up in a cluster, which draws out a diverse group of pokemon and trainers.

A well planned out, fitting memorial to FDR. Be sure to get a guided tour, or in the least grab a pamphlet as there is a lot of symbolism tgat is otherwise easily overlooked. The quotes really ring true- be sure to read them!

I visited after sunset on a November weekday and I was the only person around. It made for a very quiet and reflecting walk. This is an absolutely beautiful memorial. Well worth the extra walk from the more popular memorials.

The profound and wise words of FDR are etched in the walls of this monument. Beautiful fountains, and statues of FDR, and even a statue of Fala. I wish every American could visit this monument and all the others in DC.

The best monument of DC with an unique atmosphere at dark. Tells the story of FDR in an intelligent and peaceful way. You do need to know quite a lot about him beforehand to understand many of the art pieces though.

What a nice memorial to FDR and his wife. Some of the best quote from him are here represented. It is also a nice place to relax a bit particularly in the summer. On a side note, public restrooms available here.

Recommend taking a stroll along the entire tidal basin to enjoy the full experience. The monuments in the tidal basin are absolutely beautiful and tend to have smaller crowds which make for a very peaceful visit.

Cutest of all the monuments in my opinion. Wide, outdoors. You can walk well.

The FDR Memorial is nice because it is not as gaudy as the other DC Memorials. They have different sections for his 4 different terms and even a statue of his dog. I enjoyed it. Out in the open air.

Made in 1991-1997 in honor of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt the hero of the Economic Crisis of 1929-1939 and of course WW II of the last years of his life before he died in February 1945.

The FDR Memorial can be said as the best memorial one can give to a person. Everything President Roosevelt did for America can be learnt from here. Also, its a famous Pokemon GO hot spot.

A wonderful layout leading you through his 3 terms of presidency using many large fountain designs throughout. This memorial also has 2 bathrooms areas, one at each entrance.

The monument is okay. It only makes sense if you go north to south, that direction starts with the beginning of his presidency. A guide might be nice to explain the quotes.

Really well done model for a modern memorial. Balances historical context with commemoration. Captures the man and the warp and weft of the world he witnessed and shaped.
