The FDR National Historic Site offers a glimpse into the life and times of this well respected President with informative tours, a wealth of memorabilia, and well maintained grounds. Inside the visitor center you’ll find the standard gift shop and cafe. You’ll also be able to watch a film to learn more about the history of FDR and his family. The mosaic map of the area is truly a work of art. The FDR library and museum is well laid out and has some great exhibits that present the accomplishments and tribulations that FDR went through. One very impressive exhibit is FDR’s Private Study, which showcases his actual office, not a recreation as you see at many historical sites. A main attraction of this historic site is the FDR Home, where he was born and lived until he passed away. It’s just a stunning home with years of history. The tour guide was informative, the furnishings are all original, and the rooms are just amazing. Overall this site is a great experience to learn about a highly regarded president that was faced with some of the toughest challenges in American History, well worth the visit to beautiful Hyde Park, NY.

If you are in a must visit. Take a guided tour and if your English just fine it interesting. The story of the Roosevelt family is so exciting. Definitely one of the people and the great presidents of America. I never really knew the history, but when exposed to definitely understand why Roosevelt is famous. Now I realize that a lot of good things in America today is thanks to reforms and its actions in the thirties. He also established a huge arms industry that made America Lhmatzmh after World War II.

Beautifully preserved historic mansion, grounds and the library (really a museum) of FDR. Tickets can be a bit pricey, but the library is worth the visit alone. Add there the house where FDR was born, raised and spent most of his life (even as president) and experienced guides that are welcoming any questions about the era, the man and the Roosevelt family. This place breathes history. Placed about a mile from the Hudson river on the hills overlooking scenic views, it is a fantastic place to escape the city and a great visit any time of the year. If your kids love history this is a must trip. Library contains lots of diagrams, interactive charts, video clips and artifacts of the era.

A fascinating point of contact with legendary figures, as both FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt were. There are many wonderful exhibits here, almost all of which make these two huge figures of modern American history more accessible and more human. Well focused exhibits that shed light and help you to enter imaginatively into their world. National Parks staff are extremely knowledgeable and very good presenters. A visit to the Hudson valley without coming here would be to miss a truly top-rate opportunity. I saw quite a number of kids on the tours, and I think this is something you could easily do with the whole family.

A very nice tour with knowledgeable rangers. Some insights into the mind of President FDR and his wife Eleanor. Well kept grounds and buildings, with nice even walkway. The Home tour is guided, and very informative. Make sure your camera flash is OFF, the Rangers are very protective of the contents. Camera flash is very hard on paint and finishes so be warned. The house is as it was at the time of the donation about 2 years after the death of the president.

Beautiful grounds. Humbling experience to tour the Library. They had a very moving display regarding the mass relocation and imprisonment of Japanese Americans. How could such a great man who delivered the moving "Four Freedoms" speech turn and take those freedoms from Americans when he signed the executive order allowing for the relocation and imprisonment of these citizens? Please tell me we learned enough not to let history depeat.

LOVE LOVE LOVE....did I mention LOVE! We took a 2 day trip out to the FDR site and except for the rides out to ValKill and Top Cottage (bumpy bus ride and a crazy driver!) We had a wonderful time. The guides are fantastic! I could have spent a week there....especially at Top Cottage! It is a must-see for anyone who loves history!

Beautiful grounds. My husband and some of my family went on the tour while I kept my young, raucous boys outside. The photos my husband took of the tour were beautiful, and the library and grounds were more than enough to keep the boys and me entertained. Well worth the trip. Would love to return.

Very interesting presidential library museum. I could spend a couple days here if I had the time, which is great because the admission tickets that I had were good for two days. There is a tour of the Roosevelt home available. Very nice way to spend an afternoon. Would recommend.
