My fiancé and I did not have a positive experience with First Family Mortgage. We were very understanding of how time consuming and pressing the process of buying a house can be. Our closing date kept being rescheduled, which we knew was typical. However, during this process, Josh Butler would NOT answer or return our calls. He is not a respectful or professional mortgage lender. It was obvious that he continued to "drop the ball" on our file. It seemed as though he was never in his office. He is the only one at the company that has a personal assistant. Why? Because he cannot get any work done on his own. It does not look good when someone has to do the work for him. It did not help when we would call to speak to the owners of First Family Mortgage, such as Conrad Thompson, because him and Josh Butler were friends. Neither one of them have an idea of how to treat a concerned customer. They were very careless. I have never been acquainted with someone that has MY business that treats their customer so VERY rudely. No matter the positive reviews you see, please, do not give First Family Mortgage your business. Unlike my fiancé and I, do not fall for the annoying voice on the radio: "This is Conrad Thompson with First Family Mortgage..." They will screw you over.

Kyla McNatt (Athens office) contacted me about refinancing my current VA mortgage. I was on a very busy work schedule, but Kayla was able to work with me and get all the paperwork completed without coming into the office until the closing date. The whole refi process was completely painless - I did not appreciate how easy this was until I heard stories of other friends going through a painful process with other mortgage companies. I have used 1st Family Mortgage twice now (Huntsville and Athens offices) and had a very positive experience - they got a great rate for me and saved me money both times. Simon Weesner (now runs the Athens office) is very knowledgeable and handled my first refi. Simon and his staff maintained excellent communications with me during the whole process so there were no surprises at closing. The whole process both times was seamless and the entire staff at both offices was courteous and efficient.

She helped us refinance our home and we are now paying about $250.00 per month less and we will have the house paid in full in 10 years, if not sooner. Conrad Thompson at first family constantly checked my credit while I delt with him, almost 30 times in 3 months, driving down my credit score. I found this out by opening my one credit monitoring account. He was supposed to be helping me repair MY credit, instead he was lowering my score. I was a first time home buyer, and when I questioned he about it he denied it although I could clearly see on life lock that every time I called him , he would so a hard pull on my credit and my score would drop a few points. The lender I work with after him, would do a soft pulland, not affect my score. I since been informed that the lower score a lender can get approved the bigger their bonus. :-(

We heard about 1st Family Mortgage Company on the radio, so I was very skeptical about how the process would go. I was very impressed with how helpful everyone was there! Tim Byrne handled the end of our process and was very easy to get ahold of and find out information about the process of the loan. We cut our interest rate in half & significantly lowered our payment. I would recommend them to anyone looking to better themselves on their mortgage payments. They work around your work schedule, making the process much easier.

Megan Bissell in Athens, AL was our mortgage adviser. We are from south Huntsville and she was able to help us from Athens. She did her very best to save us time and money on our mortgage. We have now cut off years off our loan with no increase in cost per month and got a check back from them. We also were able to close in Huntsville near our home. I would definitely use Megan again if I am to refinance or buy a new house.

We used 1st family for a refi and Brian Lucas was our loan officer. It was very easy and they worked around MY schedule. Came in on a Saturday to get it started and only took about 10 minutes to close when the day came. He made sure I knew everything I needed to get started. He even got us a lower rate than what was first told to us. Will use again when we sell and move to a bigger house.

Refinanced our home into a FHA Streamline with FFM. Matt Braye did an excellent job presenting us options and helping us to find the best option for us. Not only did we lower our interest rate by half, we also dropped our payment significantly. If you are buying or refinancing, call FFM first and be sure and ask for Matt.
