My experience with ARS was both good and bad. The first tech Alfredo, I feel he tried to rip me off. He said I had a bad TX Valve and the price would be $1,104 to replace it. After fifteen minutes of looking around. I do not believe he knew what he was doing. I said to him I have not even lived here a year. And the AC unit was under warranty for two years. I was then told only the parts were covered for a year from the time of installation. Really ?... No one at the office had a clue what was going on. Except Laura she kept on top of everything and kept me informed of the part that needed to be ordered and when it would be to install. Turns out it is a common defect with the TX Valve. I had to spend two nights in a hotel because the heat was unbearable. Then a new technician came. MIKE what a great guy professional and courteous. He was here for over four hours, burning up inside the house and outside in the sun. He did not complain once and did not leave until the job was done. Great job Mike! Glad to know there are still a few honest people in the world.
**WARNING! DO NOT TRUST THE TECHS THAT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY!! I called them to come fix my A/C unit. They gave me an appointment time of 9am-1pm, but the tech didnt show up until 2:15pm. Then he performed his diagnostic and stated that my compressor was not right for the system, that my voltage was off, and that i needed a brand new system. He charged me $106 for the diagnostic. Then, a work friend of mine who has been in HVAC for 30 years, looked at it and determined it to be a thermostat problem. He fixed it in 15 minutes, we now have cool air in our house. Bottom line: DO NOT TRUST THEM. The tech was there to sell me an A/C unit and make his wallet bigger. He was NOT there to fix the actual problem. To ARS Rescue Rooters credit, they told me they will give me a refund and will investigate the technician who did this, which is good customer service on their part. But they need to clean house with these techs that are taking advantage of people and ensure their business doesnt support this kind of behavior.
We had a fantastic experience with ARS durham, as we purchased 2 units of both furnace and AC. Brian Robinson was exceptional in every step. We spent a very entertaining evening with him as he thoroughly explained everything that would be done and he gave us tons of options with varying financial options as well. Not only was he awesome, he was informative and extremely customer oriented. He made sure we knew exactly what was going on and we immediately trusted him. His crew came the very next day and afterwards the house was spotless. They went above and beyond and even added some extra things we needed. I would recommend them to everyone and if you are lucky enough to get teamed up with Brian, you will definitely be in good hands!!! Thank you guys for a wonderfull experience with our first huge purchase as homeowners!
Worst company ever! The equipment they installed 3 yrs ago be repaired. The equipment has failed already and is leaking into my master bedroom, ruining the ceiling. It is literally dripping from the ceiling. They said the E-Coil failed causing condensation to drip. Condensation??? So much condensation it leaks through the ceiling? The manager said he would email me their “fair” repair estimate since the 10 yr warranty will only cover the parts. ARS was referred by Home Depot, I will be speaking with Home Depot about the inferior company they have recommended. DO NOT USE. I wrote this sometime ago and I am still dealing with this company! They have yet to make things right. They will not listen to the customer and their communication is one of the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs!
Before calling ARS for a seasonal checkup, I had no problems with my heating and air. They offered an introductory rate for a checkup, and at that time I signed up for a yearly contract for them to check my HVAC system twice per year: once in the spring, and once in the fall. After the beginning of their service, my system shut down twice. The second time, my A/C stopped working. When they came out to fix it, I was told my capacitor had failed, but they had a spare and they replaced it......for over $200. Come to find out, capacitors are pretty cheap to come by (around $20), and very easy to replace, since they fail quite often. Needless to say, they no longer provide service for me and my family.
I called to have a technician for help with my thermostat. The technician came out, and initially suggested I had installed my thermostat incorrectly (a point he later determined false, and never apologized for the accusation) and then was unable to help with my problem. In his defense, he had not seen my type of "smart" thermostat before and without instructions (as they are only available online) was unable to assist. He gave me a "discount", but ARS still charged me nearly $50 to just tell me my settings are wrong with my thermostat. If that is worth $50, I clearly need to rethink my career choice. I will not be calling ARS again.
Michael with Rescue Rooter in Durham did a great job on our heating check. Despite the fact that it was very late in the afternoon (he had spent extra time on his previous appointment helping a disabled person set up iPad remote control of heating/cooling system) he spent a lot of time going over our system and explained everything we needed done. Alfredo O. with the same company did an excellent job on our repairs. He explained everything he was doing and did the work carefully and in a timely manner. I asked for his business card and will request him for all future repairs.
Our AC unit serving our bedroom was not functioning on a very hot Saturday. Various technicians we called either did not respond or would not work on Saturday. .However ARS did respond and sent an outstanding technician,Michael Holmes.He arrived at our home (a gated community in Chapel Hill) very promptly. He diagnosed our problem quickly. It needed a new circuit board (quite an expensive , specialized item)- He did not have to order one, he had it on his truck! It took a while to install it and to make sure that all was working. We will be sleeping in a cool bedroom tonight!
Aaron was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us to understand how our entire system worked. He was able to troubleshoot a complicated wiring issue with ease. This would have left most techs searching for hours. He tirelessly ensured that our family would have air conditioning and stayed to fix the system well past his shift. He was even kind enough to help chase down one of our cat that ran into the attic while he was working. Truly exceptional service that is unheard of in this fast pace world. Aaron J. is a must recommend for the triad area.
We have used ARS for new H/Vac system with duct work. The service and installation were phenomenal. We call ARS Durham and were scheduled and seen within 24hrs. The technician,Alfredo Olivo. Serviced our system and then provided us information on new options for our Hvac a UV light and additional electronic filtration system. Alfredo had the items in the truck and in an hours time had them installed. He was very courteous and professional. ARS Durham will be the only company to service our unit. A company is only as good as its employees, EXCELLENT
Mark was very professional with full explanations of what the service call entailed and what he observed. He offered options for improving the air quality delivered by the HVAC units and the advantages of each with pictures of the unit itself to demonstrate his point. The pictures made it unnecessary for me to venture into the crawl space to make a decision. I was completely satisfied that he was providing information for our benefit and not simply to up sell. I appreciate the in depth explanations and customer service he provided.
Alfredo arrived for our appointment on time and presented himself in a very professional manner. After reviewing my maintenance concerns he proceeded to investigate the situation and thoroughly explained and/or provided visual evidence of what he found again in a straightforward, professional manner. He made arrangements for an ARS Comfort Advisors to follow up with me in a timely manner. I highly recommend ARS Rescue Rooter as they are professional and timely from the start of the process throughout the project completion.
Donny stopped by to offer a replacement LP Gas heater unit, as our old Trane was in need of a lot of repair. He said that Rheem unit he was bidding on was better than the Trane. ALL MY LIFE it has been Trane. But he seemed to me to be honest. So I bought a new unit. WOW - what a difference. In our 14 years in NC we never experience heat like that. I have NO idea why or what - but the unit provided us heat - HOT Air. Yes, the Trance was LP, and the new is LP. The installers were quiet and worked away. Im happy with Donny.
Richard was amazing - thorough, professional, detailed. He explained many options to me to help my understand the several different heating systems in my home, was very clear about repair and replacements options, was not pushy trying to just sell me products. He offered to come back to do the additional servicing with no service charge so that we would have time to think about the options and carefully consider our decisions. Outstanding HVAC expert. Highly recommend him!
Had ARS out to perform seasonal service and they stated I needed $5000 in repairs and advised to get a new system heating and a/c. Salesman from ARC came out next day and quoted me a price and said they could have it installed in one day and they could come out 4 days later to do so. I thought what good service. I called Micheal & Son to get a second quote and they performed some maintenance and said my system was fine. BEWARE OF ARS GET A SECOND OPINION
Josh arrived within the time frame promised. He was quick to resolve the issue we had. He was courteous and knowledgeable, and went out of his way to diagnose and treat the issue. His customer service skills are phenomenal and I will not ask for any other serviceman than him in the future if I need to call ARS back for any reason. The sales rep, Steph Love, was also phenomenal. He was personable, worked quickly and diligently, and provided great service.
Was having problems with my a/c unit and needed a second opinion. Thank God I called ARS, they offered free second opinions and came out right away! The service guy Eric did a excellent job and was very knowledgeable! Most important he was honest. Eric explained all the services they provided, how to maintain my heating and a/c units, he went way beyond my expectations! I highly recommend ARS for any of your HVAC needs. Keep up the good work ARS!
ARS did my semiannual HVAC maintenance on my 2 AC units in June 2015. Josh Baker did a very good job checking out the units for proper operation and then cleaned (washed) them off with a detergent and hose. I was impressed by his diligence. He did a very thorough service and updated me on how well the units were doing and whether or not there may be any foreseeable problems coming up. This is how professional HVAC maintenance should be done.

Alfredo was very efficient. He carefully checked all the inside filters to make sure they were correct and ready for the spring pollen season. He was respectful and helpful. He made a few suggestions which we choose not to add to our inspection. He also did a thorough inspection of the furnace and AC units both inside and outside. We were very pleased with his work and would highly recommend ARS to our friends and neighbors.
We have been customers of ARS for a very long time. I must say that Josh Baker is the very best service oriented person we have ever know, bar none. No matter how large or small the problem, he is very efficient in correcting it and most of all, very honest about what is really needed and what can wait a bit. We feel very fortunate to have had him for our technician and will continue to deal with ARS as long as Josh is there.
Alfredo Olive was very helpful. He was on time and diagnosed the problem quickly. He explained the situation in detail and also informed us about the system since we only moved here 8 weeks ago and the former owner left no instructions. He cleaned and repaired the system, explained what he had done and I signed up for the maintenance agreement and he shook my hand and left. He is a very good worker and and a nice person
