We had moved into our house about 6 months ago, and it had a very small sump pit, which was constructed of an 8” x 8” clay chimney flue. Being concerned about such a small pit, we contracted a plumber to come in and enlarge the pit, change out the pump for a new one, and also install a sump jet back up pump. The plumber made numerous mistakes, including not using enough gravel around the new barrel he installed, making the drain holes to large and not spaced properly apart and too deep in the barrel. Sand was getting into the barrel because of the improper installation. Since the original sump pit was very close to one of the pilasters in the basement, we decided to move it further away. We contacted Quality 1st Basements, and Ken Peare was our System Design Specialist. Ken did all the measurements, both in the basement and what was going to be needed underground outside, as the system he was proposing wouldn’t be using the piping from our old sump pit. There were two existing perforated corrugated pipes under the basement floor next to the old sump pit that he said they would attach to a new Y adapter and a new 4” pipe and run that to the new relocated sump pit that they were going to install. He drew up the diagram on his laptop with everything that was going to be included in the work, and printed it out for us. Even though Quality 1st Basements was the highest of the three estimates we had gotten, we decided to go with them because of Ken’s thoroughness, his explanation of the scope of work, and his easy going attitude. He was never pushy or trying to “hard sell” us at all, like some other companies we had dealt with, and he was always just a text message or phone call away to answer any of our concerns. On the day of the installation, Jesus, the foreman, and the installation crew, showed up on time and ready to get to the job at hand. They started by laying down canvas tarps on the stairway and in the area they would be walking through in the section of our finished basement, and Jesus went over the procedures of what was going to be done, and answered all my questions as the job progressed.. They removed all the busted up concrete and dirt in buckets, and took them off site, which is something the plumber never did. When the job was finished, you would never know that they had been there, except for the concrete patch in the closed off portion of the utility part of the basement floor where the old pit was, and where they ran the Y adapter and connecting pipe, that’s how well they all worked together. Even though this was a very labor intensive undertaking, every one took pride in what they were doing, which is extremely commendable. At the completion of the work, Jesus went over everything that had been done, making sure there weren’t any concerns. The next day, Ken gave us a follow up call to check out how the job went, making sure everything went well, and to please contact him if we had any further questions. Because of Ken, Jesus, and the installation crew, I have no reservations on recommending Quality 1st Basements.

This year, hurricane Sandy left my family and me with a lot of mess to clean up. Before Sandy, I had a fully finished basement, but the hurricane left nothing but the four walls and wooden frame. This was the moment in which I had to make a decision of what to do next. I was afraid that I now had to deal with contractors and had to go through all the nine-yards. However, I made the right decision by calling Quality1stBasement. Nick Biris, my salesman, was very respectful and compassionate towards me and my situation. His knowledge regarding possible products and plans for renovation was remarkable. I had a detailed discussion with Nick on what I could do in my basement; at no point did he try to sell me anything, but instead focused on my predicament. He made his recommendations, but the end decision was mine. He went through the entire process with me, educating me on weak areas in the basement that allowed water in. After our discussion, the proposal he came up with included the items which would help the most at a fair price. He was not at all like other salesmen who try to oversell. Quality1stBasement’s Installation crew, led by Juan Garcia, were hardworking people who did an impeccable job. They were on time every day and were very careful and neat with all their work. Even though there was a lot of concrete breaking, they put plastic up, covered items and moved things out of the basement before starting; they did not rush their work, and were very considerate in making sure other parts of the house did not get dust. They worked in a very professional manner, and cleaned up all the leftover mess before thy left. The workmanship of the whole crew was remarkable; it was evident that they took pride and care in their work. It was great experience with Quality1stbasement, and the finished product shows the dedication and care of their hardworking crew. Now, I hope the product itself delivers what it supposed to.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Nick Biris is a good Representative of your company. Nick was very professional and detail oriented. He began his presentation by explaining the attributes about the company. He was very enthusiastic when discussing the company’s history and the products. I have had several Representatives come to my home who also knew about their company and the products for which they were presenting. However, there was something different about Nick he gave me the impression that he really believed in the products that he was presenting. Nick sat down and began to ask me questions about the problems I was having in the basement. He wasn’t pushy he did not rush me. If I asked any questions he answered without hesitation. I was almost sold just by his attitude, keeping in mind that I have had several people over the course of a couple of years take a look at my basement. (I was skeptical and wanted to be sure beyond a doubt that this company’s products were the right choice for me.) When Nick surveyed the basement, I was truly amazed at the equipment he used to measure the water dampness against the walls. He also used a laser to determine the lowest level in the basement to place the System. I was truly captured with Nick’s knowledge and demeanor. Nick came prepared. He had his computer and printer ready for business. He told me in detail what to expect the day of installation. I purchased the TripleSafe Sump Pump and am currently satisfied with the system. If Quality 1st Basement, continues to employe people like Nick there is no doubt in my mind that you will surely be in business for a very long time. Thank you,

Quality 1st Basement Systems was one of several companies we called to correct a basement wall that had bowed inward and replace an old sump pump system. All had recommended solutions but only Jeff Nero of Quality 1st had the depth of knowledge, experience and desire to share the cause, solution options and step by step process, addressing our concerns to remedy our basement wall problem. . Once contracted, the Quality 1st staff continually communicated with us to schedule the repair, confirmed repair schedule a few days prior to repair date and even the technicians called when leaving their office for our basement repair. Once on site the technicians took all precautions to leave our home in the condition found when they arrived. Protective measures were taken throughout the project with plastic sheeting installed on flooring to basement and hung, separating the work area from the balance of basement. The technicians provided a timeframe for the project and proceeded to professionally perform their work until completed, within the specified timetable. Upon completion the work area was cleaned and an overview of the work was explained. Quality 1st Basement Systems certainly lived up to their name! We received everything promised. A quality job by professionals in a timely manner for a competitive fee. There are many firms who offer basement solutions, we are glad and very satisfied with our choice of Quality 1st. We will highly recommend Quality 1st to friends and relatives who are experiencing similar basement problems. Thank you Jeff Nero for the time and experience shared prior to making our decision on Quality 1st.

For a long time I feared the rain. It would flood the basement of our brownstone and cause a dangerous nuisance, worse and worse as time went on. But finally I wised up and called Quality 1st Basement Systems. Ken P. came and checked it out. Immediately I knew I was dealing with a pro; someone knowledgable, who gave a damn, and who could put together a SYSTEM (‘cause that’s what it is; not just some simple fix that doesn’t work) that would alleviate my flooding problem. Boy, did he ever. Ken spec’d a setup of wall seal, perimeter drain, new floor and SERIOUS sump pump and dehumidifier. Scheduling work and financing couldn’t have been easier. A week later Melvin and his crew arrived, worked their ASSES off for two days installing (didn’t leave one speck of dust when they were done) and I was left with a beautiful, clean basement. Then I waited for the rain. Last night it dumped 1.3” in four hours. Without this system that would have resulted in a disastrous flood. But that basement is as clean and dry as it was when Melvin and his guys walked out of here. I’m so relieved and happy. No longer will I fear the rain. In all seriousness, Quality 1st Basement Systems is a great company. Ken couldn’t have been more professional; the system he put together WORKS. Melvin and his crew were prompt, courteous, efficient, and they cleaned up and hauled away every iota of dust from their work (and even some of mine). The company name is apt: it’s all about Quality. Thanks guys.

I contracted Quality First Basements to Poly-level my front porch, steps, and the apron of my driveway. They did lift my porch slab and steps, though the porch is level and should be slightly slanted to allow water to run off. The sealant they used was gooped on like a child did it. They said they couldn’t fix it. The apron of the driveway now looks totally awful. They did not level it properly the first time and had to come back again though nothing changed. They also gooped the sealant in the seams as much as 4” wide and it looks absolutely ridiculous. I communicated my concerns over the phone and in written statements to the company and also submitted pictures of my concerns. They send a representative, Shachon Kasey, out to look at the shoddy work and he agreed that it was unacceptable. In person and later on the phone this representative stated that he would be there to supervise the work crew to come and correct the problems; well, he did not come and the work is still shoddy and unacceptable. Do your homework…DO NOT CONTRACT THIS COMPANY TO DO ANY WORK ON YOUR HOME OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. There work is subpar, they do not communicate from one person to another in the company, and they give you the runaround by saying one thing and doing another.

I contacted 1st Quality Basement Systems because of structure issues and moisture in my dirt crawl space that rotted my subfloors. Mike Jersey spent 2 hours at my house looking at the issues and explained the fixes. Mike detailed a plan and explained the reason behind each fix. After further research and additional questions for Mike, we decided to move forward with the project. Mike always answered the phone and emails which gave me confidence that this was a professional company. The installer assigned to our Job was named Juan Garcia. Juan was very professional and did a great job on our house. His crew showed up on time, the work was very neat, done properly and they cleaned up everything after the job. We ended up encapsulating the crawlspace with the clean space system and using the Sani dry dehumidifier for the moisture. We used Smartjacks and Carbon Armor for the structural issues. I could not be happier with the outcome. The foundation of our house is now secure and the air that my children are breathing is safe. I would highly recommend using 1st Quality Basement Systems. Mike Jersey and Juan Garcia did a great job and we could not be happier with the finished product. Dan

5 stars!!! Just had a super sump pump with a waterguard drainage system installed in my basement. I am looking to finish my basement in the near future and wanted to make sure I had no water issues once it is finished. I am so glad I found Quality 1st Basement Systems! It was such a great experience from the initial estimate with my system design specialist David Yadgir to the actual install with the senior forman Juan Garcia and his crew. Everyone was extremely friendly, honest, knowledgeable, professional and diligent. They were able to answer all my questions and concerns in a professional and educated matter. Juan and his team worked extremely hard and were extremely professional. I was very impressed with the work of him and his team. They really seemed to take pride in their work and they seemed to work like it was their own house. They were very clean and made sure to not make a mess. The work looks great and I am very pleased. Juan even gave me a test demo to make sure everything was working ok. All in all, 5 stars. Great work from Quality 1st Basements- Dave, Juan and crew! I highly recommend using them for your basement needs.
