Service, Subject matter expertise, Personal touch… phenomenal outcome. We engaged Harlan York and Associates after consulting with several other law firms, searching various web based sources, and speaking with attorneys who practice immigration law. We had previously had our case handled by another firm which didn’t perform anything efficiently except their process for sending us bills for services. In meeting with Mr. York and his team, he was very up front in helping us understand how his team would handle our case, the process we would have to follow, and how the case would most likely unfold. He explained how his firm would handle the case, the risks, potential outcomes (good and bad), and the fee’s associated with the case. There were no false promises associated with his explanations, just a clear and easily understood portrayal of what his firm would be doing and the costs associated with this. As our case was an application for lawful status under the VAWA provision, and we were as risk for deportation, there were many complications and nuances that had to be managed through. Mr. York assigned our case to Maggie Dunsmuir, who not only has phenomenal expertise and knowledge in VAWA, but is thorough, thoughtful, empathetic, patient, and was always available to us during the 12 months that we worked with her. Although the VAWA requirements are complex and not entirely black and white, she took the time to thoroughly understand our situation and, over the course of many months, developed our case and ultimately the VAWA application in a manner that provided the most compelling argument possible that we were eligible for VAWA status based on the standards. We had many multi-hour meetings with her at her office and we never felt rushed. She was bought into our case 100%, and many times I felt like she wanted to achieve a successful outcome for us as much as we did for ourselves. We exchanged many emails and phone calls over this time. She was always there for us and her follow up was timely, thorough, and thoughtful. In May of 2015 she called us with the news we had been waiting for – the VAWA application was approved !! We were ecstatic and had a hard time processing this great piece of information. Now we are working with her to apply for lawful permanent resident status and I’m confident the experience will be another positive one. This is a real success story made possible by Harlan York and Associates and Maggie. We can’t thank the firm enough for making this possible. I recommend them without reservation.

Harlan York and his associates went above and beyond to help me reunite with my wife of eight years and five year old son. I am an active duty Soldier who received government orders to leave Germany and return to the US on short notice. At first, my wife and I decided to begin the visa process on our own. But unexpected changes in my government orders and complications with USCIS forced me to leave Germany much sooner than expected without my wife and son. During the immigration process things became extremely complicated while my family and I were apart. What started out as a three month separation drew out for almost 10 months. After exhausting military resources, and trying to navigate the bureaucratic immigration system I became desperate. With little money, and little time, I began emailing every immigration law firm I could from Massachusetts to New York, and New Jersey. After 4 months of trying to find help, only one lawyer replied to my email- Harlan York. Through the email exchange I could sense that Mr. York was genuinely concerned and shocked that a Soldier was having trouble re-uniting with his family. He was thorough with his questions and recommendations; eventually he offered to make time to see me during the holidays. I drove four hours to Harlan York & Associates. I met him and his associate Lauren Anselowitz. Ms. Anselowitz took my case and began to assist me immediately. I left the office relieved and worry free. One month after visiting Harlan York, my wife’s immigration case was resolved and I was reunited with my wife and son soon afterwards. In that short time, I was in contact with Ms. Anselowitz at least once per week. I was constantly updated and always informed. I was very confident my case was being handled by true professionals. Despite my status as a Soldier, and the vast resources soldiers have access to, it took Harlan York and Lauren Anselowitz to help me navigate and resolve a very long, tedious, and stressful experience with the USCIS. And of all the people I reached out to for help, Harlan York was the only one who answered me. I am in such great debt to Harlan York, and I would recommend him to anyone trying to keep their family together. If anyone needs an attorney who understands and respects family, you owe it to your family to visit Harlan York!

Mr. Harlan York is the best immigration attorney I have spoken to. Why? His legal advice and counseling come second. First, I felt treated as a person not a client, with empathy and attention. Second, I was given a chance to speak and explain my situation and never felt at pressure of spending his time and/or uncomfortable while chatting with him. After listening, Mr. York gave me true, precise, specific, and professional advice about my situation. He is very legally alphabetic person. It was not about charging fees, as many other legal aid secretaries ask for before you can even hear the attorney’s voice. With Mr. York, as it has always been, it is about listening and identifying with your case, it is about him wanting to help you, it is about loving what he does, not from the money side, but getting involved to resolve your case. He will not close the door to your face because you cannot pay for a consultation fee. That happened with me. He answered my call personally again today, after almost two years of non-communication. And for free. Finally, what I appreciate the most is his honesty. He is brutally honest, something we see less and less nowadays, especially in the “legal” world. He will listen to you, and if there is not much to be done in one’s case (because of the law) he will tell you straight forward. I wonder where he finds his time to assist so many people like me. We have known Mr. York and his team for over 15 years now. My family first met him in the 90s & he helped us get our green card and later citizenship. He is the best of the best and anytime anyone that we know needs any kind of immigration help - we send them to Harlan York and Associates. Harlan York and Associates is the best immigration law firm I have come across. Harlan is an exceptional attorney with an equally incredible staff working with him. I was blown to see how different and professional he is from the other attorneys. So, far my interaction with Harlan and his team has been outstanding. By taking my case I would say, Harlan has accepted one of the worst cases where USCIS had gone out of their own mandate to the point of actually being ridiculous. I would like to say that he is simply superb and more than that, very knowledgeable regarding immigration matters. He has been very patient with me to help me fight my frustrations and finally the most important thing about them is if you send them an email or call with a question they will call/email you back the same day. I would like to emphasize a little more on this point, knowing how frustrating it gets when you don’t get to hear back from your attorney. Harlan responds even at midnight. I absolutely recommend Harlan York to everyone out there who is looking for a professional team to be on their side to deal with any immigration matter.

In 2014 i was faced with a few challenging immigration issues, i was place on deportation, but after meeting with Harlan York and Associates. The team immigration professionalism was successful, the deportation was cancelled, and my green card was reinstated. This Immigration issues was estimated to last for 2-3 years, however with the heavenly father above guiding and directing, Harlan York and the team, especially Lauren Anselowitz who accompanied me all the way the case only last for 6-8 month. Truly i will recommend Harlan York and his team to everyone in need of clearance with their immigration complexity. Harlan York and Associates are reasonable in cost. They really do have their client interest at heart. My overall rating is 100%, good critical thinking and applied professional immigration laws executed within the situation, Which concludes clients desired outcome, and clearance. Being a British Citizen married to a US Citizen it was obvious at some point I was going to need to apply for my Green Card. I knew nothing on how to go about this and found online help confusing. Harlan York is excellent lawyer. I have had many bad experiences with other immigration lawyers. Last lawyer that I had before Harlan York, left me in limbo. That was end of October 1998 when we walked in Harlan’s office. I’m very much lucky to find Harlan York at that difficult time for us. He was upfront with us honest and truthful. I was planning to go back where I came from. My husband is American; he was going to leave the country with me if we will not able to change anything in my status. Thanks Harlan York, he pull me out from very difficult situation; I was facing deportation that previous lawyer put me into witch I didn’t know. I had one day left of 90 days.
