Maternity ward=5 stars I had both of my children here in the past two and a half years. The maternity ward is fantastic. Nurses are great and supportive. I use midwives and the staff let us do our thing. The maternity ward is clean, updated, and they provide you with whatever you light need. 5 stars for maternity. ER pediatric=5 stars My 2nd son ((17 days old) was just diagnosed with pyloric stenosis and had to have surgery. ER pediatric staff were amazing. Got me a breast pump right away. Brought in coloring books and blankets for my older son who was with us. Helped us tremendously. Pediatric Surgical team=5 stars ***2nd floor pediatrics= ONLY 3 stars. The nursing staff is okay. Our night nurse Courtney was the best but the rest...ahhh just okay. A lot of the nurses took their sweet time doing things. if my husband or I went to the desk to get our nurse because our son’s IV has been beeping for 20 minutes, our nurses would just ignore us for a good 3 minutes (we would be standing right in front of them) before acknowledging our presence. (Many times the nurses were talking to the nurse sitting next to them about topics unrelated to nursing. Like dresses, and personal conversations) The rooms on the 2nd floor are old and outdated. There are no showers in the room. The showers are in the hallway and are DIRTY. We did not feel clean after a shower and there was NO HOT WATER AT ALL in the sink or shower. (We were thee for 5 full days) i dreaded a shower. I also couldn’t nurse my 17 days old baby so I had to pump then was all the pumping stuff in a dirty, old, and outdated bathroom with no hot water.

They told my family the Risks of Performing Life Saving Surgery outweighed the Best Outcome for me. That I was GOING TO DIE....this was in 2012. I was admitted from another small hospital who couldnt handle the severe fluid build up in my brain (HYDROCEPHALUS). I was at Jersey Shore for over 1 week. They did tests and talked to my family like they were idiots. Luckily my sister stepped in. She got the records and made the phone calls. I was placed in a nursing home to die. The team at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City....saved me !!! The doctor said i was 7 minutes from DEATH when he inserted a shunt into my brain. He said taking Risks is what a good surgeon does to change the outcome... Jersey Shore Medical Center almost KILLED me....They still sent me bills...I refuse to pay any of them. It has been 2 years 6 months since my surgery. As you can see I am ALIVE....no thanks to this horrible hospital. I hope reading this helps even one person make an INFORMED DECISION about NOT COMING here for any type of NEUROLOGICAL surgery or treatment...THEY CANT PROPERLY TREAT OR SAVE YOU..... Go to either NEW YORK CITY or PHILADELPHIA for your CARE AND TREATMENT. I WISH YOU WELL.

I just had surgery yesterday and I’m feeling well enough to answer this survey. The team that was in charge of my whole surgical experience was truly amazing. From the time I arrived in the parking lot my worries were gone. The parking attendants took my vehicle and gave my wife a number to call when we were ready to leave. The guard checked my information and gave me quick directions, which were accurate. I arrived on time to the check in desk and after a few moments they escorted us into a holding room where I undressed and got my party outfit on. The nurse checked me in, starting my IV in one stick and I awaited the Dr. my Dr. stopped in to see me and discuss any last minute concerns. Next, the anesthesia team came in and presented a plan to knock me out. I had time for questions but they explained everything perfectly. I woke up in another area, discharge I believe. The nurse I had was fantastic and I didn’t want for anything. After a few hours of recovery they called for my vehicle and it was brought right to the door! With a short wheelchair ride outside I was on my way home. I’m thrilled with the service I received from Hackensack Meridian yesterday.

On December 14, 2016, I underwent a surgery for a pudendal nerve entrapment, a cluneal nerve entrapment and had part of my piriformis muscle removed. Not only was my surgery, performed by Dr. Elkwood, a total success but my stay at Jersey Shore Medical Center was wonderful. This reconstructive surgery that I had is only performed by about 5 surgeons in this Country, Dr. Elkwood being one of them. I have never met anyone that has the knowledge, confidence and grace that this man has. He gave me hope and delivered excellence. He gave me my life back. So a big shout out to Dr. Elkwood and his amazing staff and the staff at the Jersey Shore Medical Center. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Emergency personnel were wonderful. We took our friend visiting from out of the country to the emergency room with a head injury. within 10 minutes he was in for a CAT scan. Doctor was patient with all of our questions. Sil was admitted and had a room within an hour. All staff could not have been more helpful. Each and every one of them helped ease our anxiety and went above and beyond. Sil was released the next day after the doctors reviewed his condition (concussion). Dr. Casey and her staff answered all our questions with patience. Special thanks to Fallon for everything you did. Sil was very scared and you helped to make everything go easier. Thank you all.

I was out of town when my daughter was brought to the ER. I asked that someone contact me so that I could give them her background information. Almost 12 hours later she was still in the ER being treated like a drug addict because no one could take the time to contact me or reach out to the doctor who has been treating her for years to see what might be wrong with her and how to treat her. Not your text book patient so treat her like a drug seeker. I will never go to this ER again. The only telephone call I received was 3 days later asking me if she had insurance. Very important to know who will pay the bill not what her medical background is.

Care was very good, especially with the surgeon-on-call the night I arrived. He was very knowledgeable, and we were in perfect agreement on what needed to be done and the contingencies involved. CCU care and accommodations were especially top tier. My only complaint is that I had to have the nursing staff call the pulmonary attending to sign-off on my release a day after the day we discussed when he told me he was going to clear me on his part for the discharge. That cost me an expense for an extra day of hospitalization, which currently being unemployed, is an extra expense I cannot afford.

JSUMC is a world of difference from other hospitals. The staff here is second to none. I had a family member here with a serious brain injury for a very long period of time and the care received was far beyond what we had seen at other hospitals or care centers. Through the four years my relative had their brain injury, JSUMC was the only place I could leave at night knowing he would be taken care of properly without being treated unfairly because of his mental condition. They have the staff and equipment required to handle pretty much anything. A+

I Went in last Tuesday 21 Feb 17 for a Catheterization in the Cath Lab at Jersey Shore. The procedure went well and I was taken to the overnight stay room/floor in the older section of the Hospital. I want to give a Very Special Thank You to my night nurse whose name as "Kelly". She was my angel as she checked on me all thru the night. I had one little issue after the procedure, but she comforted me and explained that it was only the result of mulitiple blood thinners given to me. Again please Thank Kelly for her understanding service. .

The care and service were excellent. Great staff, nurses, and doctors. HOWEVER, my wife and I drove up to the ER because she was in labor and the contractions were just over two minutes apart and I knew she needed a wheelchair. The ER provided a wheelchair and then called someone to push her to the maternity ward. That was the only service provided by the ER, however they went and billed my insurance company $5,000 . That is an absolute disgrace and only happened because they knew we were fully covered.

pediatric emergency is a sad place its like your in the forgotten room where they take forever just to look in on you and make sure everything is fine. Was told the doctor was coming soon she did 1 hour later. Mind you the entire time we waited not even one nurse came to check up on my daughter. After doctor came she took a swab to check for strep which take about ten min for results it was almost an hour later and no one still came to tell us the results! Ill never bring her to this emergency again!

My mother was a patient twice in the last month. From the time she entered the emergency room, it was extremely difficult to get any information about her condition. Beginning with triage , to the nurse and doctor, I was hung up on, placed on hold, and spoken to quite rudely. When I tried to call back, it rang over 30 times with no answer. When it came time to discharge, I was not notified either time and she was transported back to her residence. I feel this is totally unacceptable.

The staff was excellent during our family was undergoing a procedure. Pre and Post OR was both very pleasant, informative and courteous. In Post Op, the nurse (Sheila) was excellent with a great beside manner and took care our family member great. She was able to answer any of the rest of the family questions or concerns. The only concern our family member had during their recovery stay (one night and one morning) was the food. The food provided was not very good in their opinion.

My husband was transferred into JSUMC for an emergency cardiac catherization. He spent several days in the CVICU in which the care was absolutely wonderful. A few of the nurses that stick out in out minds were Mary, Patti and Marjorie. While he was in CCU Paul, Cate, and Maria were excellant. I can attest to Mary really going above and beyond during his whole stay, even when he was transferred over to CCU. She touched our hearts and the words "thank you" could never be enough.

I thought the staff gave me immediate attention as they realized that I was severely hurt. The staff was very kind and supportive in the Emergency Room. The doctor made the right diagnosis of a fractured left humerus bone in shoulder and gave me all the information to follow-up with an orthopedic specialist. I am now receiving all the right treatment thanks to the staff of Jersey Shore Medical Center. They do a great job and I was in excellent hands.

Overall tremendous experience. The nurses aide and doctors were great. Food was very good. T treatment plan was very good and very well communicated to me. Little things like newspaper and holy communion were much appreciated. Their lyrics littlein us was the transport to and from tests. It was very slow to respond several times. But overall the stay was tremendous!!

Great staff, great attention very impressed. My wife gave birth here had a cesarean recovery was smooth doctors and nurses where on top of every thing, very polite. The nursery department has their own Breast feeding instructors who helped us through the process. We are brick residence and I would rather travel to Neptune in the future great hospital.

My friend who stayed in the hospital in the pediatric center was horrified by how she was treated. She was neglected by the people and the way they took care of her was like an owner taking care of their pet terribly. The only appreciative thing there was her one-on-one lady who was a good person to her. Other than that, the experience was horrible.
