If there is one thing I am evangelical about it is pet insurance. Without a doubt at some point a pet is going to get sick or injured. Accidents happen. Without pet insurance, medical choices for these family members are agonizing. I got pet insurance for my two cats so that any medical decisions I needed to make would not be based on money. It was a good thing I went with Petplan. My one cat, Hildi, got lymphoma. I was able to give her good, appropriate care and she lived a fine quality life for 18 extra months. Her total medical costs were about $14,000. Petplan probably picked up about $11,000 of that. My second cat, Fat Mike, just spent 8 days in the hospital after having an abscess drained from his face. I didn’t think my guy was going to make it but he pulled through. Total cost for Mr. Mike was about $10,500. Petplan paid for about $8,700 of his bills. I would not have been able to afford this level of care without pet insurance. Of course, the amount of reimbursement is based on the plan you choose. Petplan makes the process easy. In most cases, once I faxed in my claims, I was reimbursed within two weeks. Petplan employees were never difficult to deal with, and always helpful and concerned. One thing to know about pet insurance in general is that, unlike people health insurance, each issue has its own deductible. So, if you bring a pet in for, say, a paw injury, you will have to fulfill the deductible for that. You could very well have another deductible for the next illness. All in all, though, well worth it. In case of my cats, the yearly premium was less than $300 per cat. That’s nothing for peace of mind.

I purchased a beautiful little puppy and purchased Petplan and they took 30.00 out of my account every month and never missed a payment. I put a claim in for a 300.00 bill and all they are reimbursing me is 25.00.... This company is a scam and would never recommend this company to anyone and my voice will be heard. It took them 3 months to file this claim with a lot of hassle and endless phone calls to them. How do you figure a 300.00 claim and I will only receive 25.00???? It costs more just to pay them a month then to just pay the vet without insurance... So to all you animal lovers/ owners do not be fooled by Petplan they will steal your money!!!!

I have had PetPlan insurance for my dogs for many years. I have found that when my dogs have been very sick PetPlan has paid my claims quickly and fully. The employees are very friendly and professional. I am VERY pleased with my experience with them over the years.

I have Petplan for 4 pets. I am glad to have it. Do the math. People who write lousy reviews of Petplan have not read their policy exclusions ahead of time and probably have not followed the paperwork requests or understand deductibles.

These people are hard to deal with. Its impossible to cancel and if you move at any time during your time with them your plan doubles for no reason. What a waste.
