My husband and I live in a modest 100-year-old home where we raised our three sons. Now that we are “empty nesters” we decided it was time to pay attention to some things around the place that we’d been neglecting while we were busy raising a family. For years, our house has been drafty and cold in the winter, and the expensive oil heater was making a huge dent in a budget already depleted by sending three kids to college. We decided to call Ciel Power for a consultation, and after the initial three-hour assessment we agreed it made a lot of sense to follow through with their recommendations. Ciel Power facilitated the financing of this whole project using their knowledge of state rebates and no-interest loans. Within a few weeks their team was here working to give our aging and leaky house a warm, cozy, and energy-efficient upgrade. Ciel Power insulated the basement where the top of the foundation meets the frame of the house, caulked every single window, arranged for our old furnace, water heater and oil tank to be removed, and orchestrated the installation of a new high-tech gas burner and indirect water heater. They also insulated the attic where air had been pulled up to the leaky roof in an updraft for years, taking warmth out of our living areas. The team also vented our existing bathroom fans to remove moisture. All of this was accomplished in a matter of a few weeks and the results have been nothing short of miraculous. For the first time in years we feel toasty warm with no drafts or cold pockets of air. Our first gas bill was a happy surprise, after years of paying exorbitant prices for oil. The new heating system is quieter, more efficient, and cleaner. The Ciel Power team worked seamlessly, professionally, and enthusiastically to make our house a warmer place in winter and more comfortable in summer (if and when grandchildren arrive—we’ll now be ready!). We’re extremely pleased with the results and so glad we followed their excellent advice.

Done to reduce energy usage and lower utility bills, a Home Energy Efficiency audit is on many homeowners minds these days. Streamlining expenses and eliminating unnecessary costs begins at home, and there are some simple and some involved projects that can help you to see those energy bills go down. Kevin assessed how much energy our home consumes and evaluated what measures we can take to make our home more energy efficient. The assessment shows our problems that may, when corrected, save us significant amounts of money over time. For instance, weather-stripping around doors, caulking around windows, changing HVAC filters, and upgrading insulation are all smart home energy efficiency projects that keep that expensive energy from escaping out some hole in the wall. In addition, with so much focus on home energy efficiency and "green" these days, many of these improvements have been field tested and show proven results at lowering bills and creating cozy homes. Having had my old house insulated through the NJ energy performance program a number of years ago with a different contractor, I was very pleasantly surprised how well the team I dealt with at Ciel Power handled things. I very much appreciated having a dedicated project manager (Natalie) who worked with me and the trades to handle the details. She was on top of the process and kept me well-informed. Communication was very good. Beth, who actually did the home audit, was thorough and helpful as well with the close out inspection. The insulation installers were very polite and did an very good job and keeping the house clean, which is pretty hard to do with blown cellulose. My only comment would be that customers request the IR camera view of the work to check for missing insulation. It does not seem to be standard procedure and was helpful in finding some missing spots on my multi-pitched roof.

John Sladky was extremely professional. He arrived on time and then proceeded to explain the process step by step. Once we were clear he invited me to tag along and ask any questions. During each step he explained the use of all the equipment. His explanations were all very clear and it showed to me that he was very knowledgeable and loves his job. He was extremely thorough and took his time to complete every energy test correctly. He also showed me all the results provided by the equipment and explained what these numbers represented and the safe ranges to fall within. Then he proceeded on making recommendations to make my house safer.

I have worked with other companies in the past. I found Ciel to be very professional in there whole approach. John did a very thorough review of my home, recognizing and identifying trouble spots throughout the house. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Natalie Tocci did the follow up. Despite several snow days ans forced cancellations, she was a trooper and followed through until we finally met and reviewed the data. I thought the written report was very clear and easy to understand. It addressed all the issues we discussed during the inspection and the work necessary to make my home more comfortable and energy efficient.
