SIMPLY HORRIBLE. Extremely STRESSFUL. PAINFUL. Lost sleep. Calls not returned. WORST experience ever from a lender. My recommendation would be to FIND SOMEONE LOCAL who knows what they are doing. I see all these wonderful reviews and wonder how? Not based on our experience. Over 4 weeks in underwriting and could not get a yes, no, or maybe. Passed our loan objection date without any type of commitment and not much concern. What does this mean? As we explained to our loan officer, this means that we lose our earnest money to which he replied that he would help out if this happened?! We are convinced that our purchase agreement was never read. Inside of 2 weeks from closing and we were forced to go to a local lender, who with the same information given to VU had us ready to close in a matter of days with a lower interest rate and closing costs. In addition, our VU loan officer had us do a "mandatory" pest inspection which we questioned (he was supposed to be the expert, right?), paid $75 to have done, for which we were supposed to be reimbursed (never happened), and was later discovered that it was not "mandatory". I personally hope that anyone else who deals with VU has a much better experience than what we had, but our experience has led us to the point that we could NOT EVER recommend VU. Oh.....to the VU employee who has the unfortunate job of responding to most of the bad Google press and social media complaints, and who refers people to the customer relations phone # to get problems/complaints resolved, please do not respond to this post. Your customer relations department was just as awful with returning calls and taking care of problems as our "Loan Team", except the rep who we had to call to get our appraisal transferred to our new lender. He was the bright spot in the VU organization.

We really had a great experience with veterans United. Great customer service. I doubted Veterns United at first because i found about them online and got call from them first. Also, i am an active duty military personnel. I always heard about USAA, Navy federal and other organization doing an awesome job on VA loan, but i am so glad that i made the best decision of my life to chose Veterens United and to work with Mr. Matt. Veterens united does an awesome job on getting VA loan approve faster and getting regular loan as well. Mr Matt was always there to answer our questions. He was very honest, very informative, and very helpful. He would give an instant response through email, phone, or text message anytime and anywhere. We closed our home within 1 month despite of thanksgiving break, christmas break, and new year break. It was definately not possible without Mr. Matt assistance. He was easy and available to reach even during those holidays and would instantly answer your all quiries. He would give you an honest opinion about any question you might have regarding house buying process. We also got the best deal on interest rate and best deal on house in general. I wish we had clone of Mr. Matt in every organization and we would have always worked with him. Everybody worked really hard to make the home buying process to complete on time. I have already recommended veterans United and Mr. Matt to my friends and family members who are planning to get house in the future. I will recommend Veterans United and Mr. Matt to everyone who are actively looking for house.

Buyers beware, Initially Veterans United was awesome. My loan officer was fantastic and communicated often and quickly. I was pre-approved very quickly and signed a contract on a dream home for half the amount I was pre-approved for. At this point I had already spent $425.00 for a home Inspection. I had even received an email from Veterans United that was titled "Home loan milestone", "Underwriting is underway". Everything was great up until it was discovered that I did not have enough retirement points to qualify for a VA loan and that a "Certificate of eligibility" for a VA loan would not be issued because as a reservist I did not accumulate enough retirement points. I then inquired about doing a conventional loan with Veterans United but was told that I did not qualify "based on my credit history", "no gift funds accepted under Conventional guidelines and that the home must be "Fannie Mae approved". that was the last correspondence i received from Veterans United. That same day I contacted a different mortgage company and of course and had to pay for a second inspection. I have since closed and own this new home thank you to the new mortgage company I contacted. I feel that Veterans United should complete ALL the steps required prior to pre approving. Because Veterans United was so quick to "pre-approve" I almost lost my home.

My feedback submitted to VU. Please consider Cole Simmons when seeking a loan officer. He really was fantastic, and we appreciate him! "It’s been a while since we started working with Cole; however, I’d still like to send my appreciation to the company for his hard work and dedication. Even though, as builders, we went with the in-house financing company, it had NOTHING to do with Cole’s efforts. Frankly, it was just business, and we were offered certain incentives that could not be beat. BUT, Cole is the reason we even knew buying/building a home was possible. We truly didn’t think we were to that point yet and simply filled out a survey expecting someone to call, run us around, then tell us the house was out of the question. Cole gave us the absolute opposite of our expectations. He called us the very next day and walked us through the entire process. He set us up with Benny Dinsmore, our agent, and really got the ball rolling for us. My husband and I are so grateful for everything he did for us. We are only sorry we couldn’t further our relationship. Thanks for everything!"

We went with Veterans United after having a terrible start to the home buying process with USAA. This was the first time my husband and I have purchased a home and were very stressed out. VU made sure we stayed informed, answered all questions we had about anything abs everything, and kept our costs as low as possible. The loan team we had, Garet Bary and Cara Belcher, are two of the most helpful and kind people I have ever dealt with. We closed on time, our numbers were great, and they made our entire experience absolutely amazing. On top of the amazing experience with the purchase, they even sent us a closing gift! Garet and Cara knew I am expecting a baby boy in December and sent a few little gifts specifically for our little one. I was so grateful and could not believe it. Also, we just got a box delivered to our new house with a VU shirt, deck of cards, coin, and personalized address labels. I could not have imagined a better home buying experience!

Waste of time and are NOT VETERAN Friendly. Went through the entire process for MONTHS (5-7 months, was trying to make sure there were no problems), before ever even starting to shop for houses. Kept hearing "oh you are great, you are more than qualified, you are the best of the best!!!" Well, picked out the house, had the pre-qualify, and qualify, picked out the house, put a deposit, inspection, VA inspection one thing.... THE VA LETTER. That was NOT EVER checked. The WHOLE reason for going VA, what would be the first thing to get or check???? VA Letter. Lost $400 on the inspection, had to back out of the house; all of which the next buyer got to use. Major let down, unprofessional, and just worthless. I did get a "we are so sorry", sorry my foot. Then they had the audacity to say, "well, if you want to do another loan.." With these guys on your side, who needs enemies?? Not EVER, take your business somewhere else.

We came about Veterans United nearly by accident. Now seeing negative reviews (dated ones) for them, I do not believe we would have even called. Thank you Lord for keeping those reviews from us as our experience has been truly wonderful. From start-to-finish, our loan processors (Jeff Goodman and Aaron Boner) treated us like royalty. Professional, courteous, responsive, knowledgeable, and understanding; Jeff even answered phone calls while he was out of town to a family Holiday gathering! Rare are the times you find a company who know what they are doing, let alone people who makeup that organization. Be careful of negative reviews; they may not be telling you both sides of the story. My father always said, "You need to look at both ends of the horse to see what kind you have there."

We had a negative and confusing experience with another lender who was not looking out for our best interest and Nathan cleared things up for us. Once we decided to use VU we were amazed at the difference. The online portal is very easy to use yet secure and we loved getting our documents in the mail along the way as well. VU is a great at explaining things step by step when you are a first time homebuyer who does not know much about the process. Other lenders claim to know all about veterans loans and veterans benefits but VU truly cares about vets. They helped us make sure we got property tax exemption that we were entitled to in Texas which saved us hundreds per month. If you have a choice Nathan Anderson was our loan specialist and I would highly recommend contacting him.

Easy to work with and made the whole process seem not as big and complicated as it really is, as any Vet would know when it comes to VA. Great rates and a program for veterans who had or have no active credit like myself, made it simple to get to great score and pre-approved. Im sure any local bank can figure out this VA loan process and get it done, but why find out when these guys only deal with VA loans and make it an easy and painless process. If the lighthouse program is available to you use it its a great tool and great poeple to help get credit to good range and get great rates. After all that ill just have to say im not a spokesman or told to do this im just a proud new homeowner thanks to this company and there services.

Let me start with the customer service and communication is great from what I experienced. The problem is in the fact they overcharge, best bet, as with anything get more than one quote. Pros easy to work with Cons - high interest rate and high closing fees. After shopping around I was able to get 4000.00 back instead of paying 10,000 for closing and final straw was called to tell me interest rates were going up and the lock in agreement they sent me was no good when in fact interest rates had declined, they were almost a full point higher than lender I was able to secure. So easy to work with but they will cost you considerably more, many options are out there so I suggest shopping around.

We have never had such a great experience buying a home as we did with our team at Veterans United. From the moment I first called we have been guided and looked out for. Winsor Cooper, our loan officer, was always on top of the paperwork work and he and kept us up to date on everything as it developed. He even saved us over 2k dollars a year in homeowners insurance at the last minute. The real estate agent they recommended, Shana Reese, was absolutely phenomenal. She went above and beyond anything we expected and was incredibly helpful, helping us to find our dream home. Thank you everyone at Veterans United! If we ever move again there is no question who we will want as our team!

This process with veterans united made it easy for me to upload documents and check the status of pending notifications that i may have missed. Emails was efficient and effective while keeping me informed of any errors that i may have made in the process. The phone lines was mostly always available whenever i called in for a question or concern. I am happy that i chose veterans united because they really took care of me even though i am a veteran. After deciding to move Veterans United helped me get a home. The Initial loan process was not to bad. I had a few set backs, however they helped me get it strait. After two and a half years of living in the home Veterans united jacked up my fixed rate mortgage. I was never late on a payment, they just decided my escrow " cushion" was not big enough. So, instead of an $800.00 payment, I now have a $998.00 payment. With no sympathy I was told it will never go back down. Keep in mind, I am 100% disabled veteran, my insurance did not go up enough to justify this increase. My taxes are the same.
