ARS installed a complete A/C system in my rental property in 2008, and recently the system was not cooling, so I called ARS to come out and take a look at it, (this is the only reason I called ARS). When my call was taking by the young lady who answered, she was able to find my name, and date of install in their computer system. I explained the issue, and she set-up for a tech to come out and look at the A/C. The tech called a few hours later and told me that the system had no freon, and that more than likely there was a leak, which he found in the coil. He explained to me that he could not give me a quote for the replacement that another tech would have to come out to give me a quote. I soon got a call from the second tech, and was quoted 2800 to replace the coil, and 400 to rebuild the plenum for a total of 3200 dollars. I explained to him that I had recently replaced a whole system for 4200 using a small A/C contractor. He then asked for an e-mail which I gave him, he told me that he would go back to the office and see what he could do to get me some type of discount. As soon as I hung-up with him I called my A/C contractor to see if he could beat the price. The private contractor when out the next day, and called me to tell me that the coil was still under warranty and that ARS should only charge me labor. So of course I called ARS only to have to explain my situation three times to different individuals, only to be told that the second tech quoted me the non-warranty price, and that the warranty price was 1400, which still seemed high to me. She went on to explain that the warranty was thru the A/C manufacturer and not ARS, and if my “handy man” was a licensed A/C contractor, (which I found condescending) he could do the work. Well he is licensed, and is doing the work for a lot less, and at least I know I ‘am dealing with an honest individual, and not a company like ARS, which I can’t help but feel that they were trying to rip me off. And as far as the plenum my “handy man” said is fine, and still waiting for the e-mail with the discounted price. I know from now on who I will recommend, and who I won’t. Thank you ARS.

Issue: Main AC drain gets clogged Called ARS: Explained the issue that main drain is clogged and condensate is coming from auxiliary line. First visit: Service scheduled - technician came, diagnosed the same issue, says that he is an HVAC guy and I should call for a plumber. Anyways, I still ask the technician to inspect remaining items. He leaves after charging $98 as we have 2 units (2 x 49). Ok, I understand that minor confusion about issue can happen. No issues so far Second visit: The plumber comes and looks at the issue and informs me that it would take $400 to address the issue. I call customer support requesting for a rate list as I was expecting $49. The customer tech tells me that in this package price they are offering a complete camera inspection "complementary". I say NO and again ask for cost to just address the issue at hand :Blocked main line. Second Price offer: $250 again with a complementary camera inspection. At this point - I have had it and I ask them to leave. Finally, I am asked to told the price - in frustration I said "I could get this done max for $150. They say that their plumber would do it for the same. Summary: I paid $250 for inspection of two units and unclogging the main drain line. That too after serious haggling. I will never call them again - is this the way to run a business. The only reason I got the issue fixed at $150 is because it is headache to manage schedule and I was at home. Final Advise: Ask for the price over the phone. And do not get sucked in to bargaining tactics. Simply say NO. Nothing against technicians though - they did their job. It is the general company policy that is not catered to look out for customers. The philosophy is more like " Lets get them"

I say Ralph did a wonderful job informing me about the brand new air conditioner prior to purchase. He took his time explaining things to me and I did not feel rushed. He answered all the questions I asked him. He is well knowledgeable about the products and kind hearted. My reason for rating him high is also because of the experience I had with him the next day which is the day the new A/C was installed and after the techs left and I noticed my phone, TV and internet stopped working. I then called Ralph to have him call them to come back to check the adapter in the attic as they must have bumped into it. He informed me he will call the office have someone come to my home that evening as the guys would not be able to come back. Shortly after, he informed me someone else will be coming to my home that evening. When I called back to find out how long it will take, he told me he would rather come himself that way who ever gets to my house first will fix the problem. He came and readjusted the adapter and everything started running again. That impressed me as he did not have to come fix the problem as someone else was already called to come. He went above and beyond to make me satisfied that night. Keep up the excellent work. Thank you.

I have had it with their constant up selling. Last week, came time for my furnace inspection as I have a contract with them. The unit is one year out of warrantee and after 10 minutes the technician came down and said that the furnace had rust and needed to bee replaced at a cost of over $5,000. Taken aback, I told him that I would get a second opinion and sent the tech on his way. A few days later, I called Sterling Mechanical to come in and told him that another company had recommended a new furnace and to check it out and give me a price as well. After 15-20 minutes, He came back downstairs and asked why the replacement recommendation. He said that there was a little rust, but that was to be expected and these units were designed last 20-25 years. He said that he would love to sell me a new unit but there was nothing wrong with mine. Kudos to Sterling Mechanical. ARS on the other hand finds things wrong every time they come out for the service. Interestingly, never the same thing. I have only one conclusion, ARS incents their techs on upselling you for unneeded services and parts. This is unethical and borderline criminal. I will not be contacting ARS again.

I scheduled an appointment to unclog a drain and was given a window for 4-8pm on Sunday (yesterday). Got a call from ARS Rescue Rooter around 5pm advising they would not be able to make it out and wanted to reschedule for the next day (today), same window of 4-8pm, not a problem. I took off work a bit early, called in around 5:30pm after no word just to make sure they were still coming today, and was told that yes they would definitely be coming by today but it would be after 7pm. At 7:45pm I received a call to inform me they could not come fix my issue today because they did not have any technicians in the area and would not be able to reschedule for any time tomorrow because they are all booked. I asked them to cancel my job order. I will find someone who follows through on their simple promises. They advertise 24/7 service? Really? Surprised they are still in business with this level of customer service.

They put in the heater part of my ac system and tried to charge me $4000.00. They finally agreed to do it for $2300.00 In June 2017. On September 15th the ac was blowing hot air into the house. I called the and the man came out. He put a capasitor and compressor saver on the outside unit which was not the problem. After he left, the unit only worked for a hour before it started making a loud racket. I called them and they said that the man had gone home and that it would be at least 5 days before they could come back out. And they charged me $755.00. I called several other people to come out on the 16th. They told me that the items that the guy put on the unit were not the problem and I saved the part that he took off and they checked it and said that it was not bad. I had to have someone else come out to repair the unit and pay more money. I will never use these people again. They rip people off.

Our house was flooded during Harvey and we have dehumidifiers to dry it out; however, moisture continued. Our general contractor recommended we change the thermostat to heat during the day and to cool at night. We called ARS and Miguel Salazar responded. Miguel said we could only accomplish this by our visiting our house twice a day and manually changing the thermostat and he suggested we buy a wifi thermostat that we could control remotely. He looked up the information for us and waited while we drove to make the purchase, and then he installed and walked us through the process. This was late in the evening and I know he had had a long day; however, he was so patient and helpful that he relieved the stress we were under. We are grateful for his knowledge and efficiency and will definitely ask for Miguel Salazar by name the next time we need to call for help from ARS.

James Brown with ARS did an excellent job at my home. We were having problems with our hot water heater and wanted to know about going to a tankless system. He explained our options and everything that needed to be done before starting the big job. He corrected some plumbing issues in our older home in the heat without complaint even though it was not an easy job. Also he did all of my small repairs that I had been neglecting. He took the time to answer all of our questions as he worked quickly through the job. He was very neat, even left everything in better condition than it was before. Always on time and a very hard worker but worked at only times that were convenient for us. I feel confident in recommending James Brown because of his honesty, I am sure that he will do a great job for any one.

I used ARS in Houston to install a Navien Tank-less Water Heater on 8/26/2016. Robert Watts was the plumbing technician. He was very knowledgeable, polite and did an outstanding installation and explained everything along the way. I would highly recommend Robert Watts for the Tank-less Installations, he was exceptional. He was assisted by Brandon Pellam, who came in on his day off and he also did an excellent job. The two were a winning combination, An earlier apprentice name Johnathan Kuciemba was purportedly ill but performed very poorly and unprofessionally. He was replaced with Brandon, so everything ended on a very positive note. Since this is a public review, the main point is that I would highly recommend Robert Watts if you are installing a Tank-less Water Heater.

Aldrin and Adrian arrived at my house exactly when they said they would and despite the Houston heat in July, their outstanding work ethic, excellent customer service and professionalism was hands down the best that I have ever received from an AC company. They did not try to rush to finish the install of my new and upgraded unit despite the high temps. Aldrin showed us the finished product and thoroughly explained everything that was done in the attic and outside. He welcomed any question that I had and did not leave until he answered all of my questions. ARS stands behind all of their products and labor and offer excellent warranties and free maintenance for the first year. I will definitely be a long time customer and will highly recommend them to my friends and family.

Chris Burks, the Comfort Advisor from ARS, was a real pleasure to work with. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient and interested in helping me solve my problems - or at least the AC problems, which included replacing my 15 year old heating and cooling system. I was talking with another contractor who had given me a very good price, but Chris hung in there and got a price for me that nobody else could beat. The ARS team, which included Alfredo, Rafael, Guillermo, and Estes, did a great job installing, especially considering the lack of space in my attic. They left the workspace and the part of the house they had tracked through spotless. The contractors are all employees of ARs and not subcontractors, which I think is a very positive thing. I recommend Chris and ARS.
