I responded to an ad I heard on the radio for metal roofing with 75% off installation for a limited time. The salesman arrived and showed us the product which appeared heavy duty, high quality, and had a 50 year warranty. He stated that it was installed with no exposed fasteners, unlike a traditional metal roofing that has screws with rubber sealing washers that can deteriorate over time. He also stated it would be installed by professional Mad City installers that were experienced, insured, bonded and so on. He said the installation should take a day or a day and a half. We discussed pricing including the installation of seamless gutters. The 75% savings on installation was only if we ordered that day. He explained that they save money by not having a salesman return to the same house several times. While I don’t like the tactic, I get it and, in Wisconsin anyway, you can cancel the contract within 3 days if you change your mind. We ordered the roofing and gutters. The installation was scheduled to begin on a Tuesday. I stayed home to meet with the crew but got a call about 11:00 saying they were just finishing another job and would be out Wednesday. I stayed home Wednesday and about 10:00 I got a call saying they were on the way. 2 guys arrived with a trailer of material that they dropped off and said they would be back Thursday with a crew to start. Thursday I received a call saying that it might rain and they would be starting Friday (it never did rain). Friday a crew showed up in various cars and trucks, not a one with Mad City anything on it. They worked about 8 hours Friday and Saturday and were probably three quarters complete by the end of Saturday. Sunday morning, I received an email from the crew leader saying that he couldn’t get a crew together that day and that would finish Monday. The roof was completed Monday. A week later I had still not heard anything about the gutters. I called Morgan at Mad City and she did some checking and the gutter people were there in a couple of days. They were in and out in a several hours. I’m very happy with the gutter installation. With the work completed, I started looking a little closer at things and had some questions/concerns. There were exposed fasteners with rubber sealing washers all over. On the ends of each panel, at the valleys, and various random spots on the top surfaces of the panels. The panels at the valleys had substantial openings and looked far from professional (while this may not affect the performance, I’m guessing a picture of my roof won’t be on their website). The underlayment was never cut away from the opening for the ridge vent, at least in the garage where I can see. I don’t know about the rest of the roof. I contacted Mad City and set up an appointment for a production guy to come down and inspect the roof. Brandon stopped by and inspected the roof and made several repairs to the ridge vent and valleys. I believe that he also removed many of the screws in the top of the panels, as I did not see them later. He also stated that this style of roofing panels requires exposed fasteners at the ends of each panel to secure to the panel underneath. He was very polite and courteous and noted my concerns and said he would bring them to the attention of his manager and I would hear back from them. A month later I had not heard from anyone so I called the production service number I had for any questions, and the voice message said to call Morgan. I called Morgan and left a message. It has now been a month since calling Morgan and I still have not heard from anyone. I am still not sure if the salesman sold me something other than what was installed or he didn’t know about how the panels were secured. He did not say anything about subcontractors doing the installation. I am not sure the ridge vent will function properly. I don’t know if the fasteners installed on the top of the panels will be an issue. I just hope customer service on the warranty side is better than what I have experienced to date.

Excellent experience with everyone we talked to whether it was in person or over the phone. The salesman was knowledgeable and respectable. We received the appropriate amount of phone calls regarding appointment reminders, appointment setting, and a follow up call regarding the installation and how it went. Between ordering and installation was about 5 weeks for custom windows. We were able to set up our installation appointment within the same week we got the call that the windows were in. The installer arrive within the appointment window and was knowledgeable about the windows and the work. He also cleaned up his mess inside the house as well as the outside. The only downfall would be the prices, which seem steep, but it includes everything: the salesman stopping by to show you the product and explain the company to you, the person that measures your old windows to make putting in new windows pretty simple, and the installer. I was also told that if a permit was required, the price would cover the cost of any permits needed. The windows also come with a lifetime warranty that is transferable to the next owner if you end up selling the home, which was a nice selling point for us. We are very happy with our new windows, especially with the cold months approaching. I was stopped while shopping and asked if I would be willing to have them do an estimate and if we did we would receive a gift card for a free dinner, which was the only reason why I signed up. Never did I think I would actually buy 3 windows! The best part of all of this, the 0% interest financing!

First, let me begin with how well their products seem to be and how polite their reps CAN be. We did get a $5 Starbucks gift card upon making our appointment and you received a dinner for 2 after your appointment. These are the only reasons I am giving ONE STAR, Otherwise if it were possible - I would give a NO STAR rating. Now, let me begin with the negatives of this company. When I made the appointment, they told us they would come take measurements and give us an estimate of what it would cost for new windows in our home. The demo they did took 3 HOURS! This was our only day off and it was wasted on this company. The gentleman that arrived for the demo was seemingly nice. Although his tactics were poor. He used guilt and fear tactics to make us purchase these windows. "Do you really want to do this?" "Do you want to throw out thousands of dollars?" "What would your family say?" Well first, we have other things to worry about and pay for. OH, did I mention they wanted $16,000 for 9, yes... NINE Windows! Are they insane? Why would I want to pay $16,000 for 9 windows? We repeatedly said this was not something we wanted to spend right now, and that we had just wanted a simple quote. We said this more than 5 times! The more we said it the more uncomfortable we felt and the more we thought we were going to get stabbed or something. It was a very unpleasant experience and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

We had them come in for bath and shower installations. There were a few issues: one of the workers injured himself (cut his finger) and they left for the emergency room. It does not appear that they notified the main office in a timely way, because they were confused when we contacted them. Another crew returned the next day to continue working on the project, but it turns out that the bathtub was defective, so they had to return it. It was looking like they were going to take two weeks to get our bathrooms done, one of which was already disassembled. Thankfully, they managed to find a spot to complete it all in one day a few days later. Unfortunately, this brought other problems, as they failed to put in a foot pedestal and left a thin layer of silicone over the bedroom and bathroom area that we did not notice in the rushed checkout. All in all, the product looks good and the issues were resolved relatively well, but we were disappointed in how some of these things were handled. UPDATE: We were pressured into providing several online reviews, even creating new accounts in several different outlets, on the false promise that we would receive a gift certificate for our troubles. We were honest in the reviews and provided the above information. We gave three of five stars. We have not received a gift certificate as promised, and two months have gone by. That pushes the rating down another star.

VERY HIGH PRESSURE & MIISLEADING SALES TACTICs. Scheduled an appt for an estimate for (1) Window, Sales guy gave two prices, lower quote was for that day Only if signed that day. I reiterate it is ONLY an estimate, he confirmed i could cancel, that I was just locking in the lower price, he also needed a personal check to lock that price in. Five (5) business days later, I called to request my check be returned due to unexpected pet diasnosis & immediate & ongoing treatment expenses were needed. This news was emotional for me. I have called Mad City and let them know the situation and request my check be returned, I no longer have the finances for the window. This was (1) window for $2,000 , the window Measurements have Not been done. Madcity scheduled an appt for a representative to my house whom they said would have the paperwork I needed to sign to get my check back. - Mad City representative Dave) arrived and said I signed a contract and obligated to buy the window. I explained it was a Quote. He showed my the signed paperwork said I was legally obligated and would need a lawyer for any further action. I am still in the process of trying to get my check returned. I was interested in this company because they were local and family owned, I am pretty shocked at how poorly this is being handled by Mad City

I reached ot to Mad City Windows for a quote on replacing an 18 year old dinning room window. A rep came out to the house and did a no pressure inspection, demo, and recommendation. I was expecting high pressure to replace all of my windows but to my surprise that was not the case. Instead, the rep recommended not replacing all of the windows but rather just the windows with issues. I did end up asking him to quote the whole house and he did just to get an idea of what I may need in the future. To my surprise I got the same great discount for the one window based on the whole house discount - and the discount will be there if I decide to do more replacemnts. When it was time for the window to be installed I got a courtesy call from Mad City letting me know when the installation group whold be at the house. I also got a call from the installer 30 minutes before they were to arrive. They were in and out within an hour. They were very professional going over how the window was installed, operation, warrenties, etc. They even called the District Manager to see if I had any questions before they left. I could not be any happier and will definitely have Mad City Windows back for the next window replacement!

The sales person was very courteous, knowledgeable and professional and the experience was fantastic all the way up to the point the contract was signed. After this point, their customer service is by far the worst that I have ever experienced. Windows installation was 4 weeks late and not completed to as original order, requiring additional dates for windows installation. The quality of installation was poor with streaks of orange foam sealer all over the window panes. The installers were not full time Mad City Employees as the sales person said they would be, but a regular contracted contractor who was rude to the point of using swear words on the worksite and throwing trash out of his vehicle on to my property when finishing the installation, with Mad City not offering any comment on the behavior. Additionally, a year after installation some windows either cracked or will not operate correctly. Trying to exercise the warranty has been frustrating to the utmost level. Several attempts communicating with the Madison then Green Bay office, sending pictures of windows and the serial numbers, cancelled appointments has proved to be pointless.

Our experience with Mad City Windows was a great one. When we had our estimate done, the representative Scott gave us a very comprehensive presentation about the quality of the EnivroView Windows. The only reason we gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because at our estimate appointment we were required to order that night to receive the discounted price. We were just starting to price out windows and felt that this high pressure sale technique to be a little overwhelming. Needless to say the windows do really speak for themselves, so we decided to go ahead and just replace 2. The installation process was perfect. They called us the day before to confirm. They adjusted the time that we should expect them, which we appreciated knowing ahead of time. It only took 1 hour and 30 minutes to install both windows. The windows look great and work just as well as promised. The installer cleaned up the area where he worked and was very professional. We had these windows installed in the spring, so we can not wait until winter to see what a difference these windows make.
