My name is Andrew Curtiss. I would like to attest to the professional services of the Riley and Wells Law Firm. I was subject to the Virginia State “Over 80” stipulation, imposed by a Virginia State Trooper with a Napoleon Complex. Since I am a resident of another state I was forced with the option of accepting a misdemeanor and paying a ridiculous fine that may have caused my license to be suspended or revoked, or attending court. The problem is that I was in Virginia for work and was unable to make the court date because court was set for a date where I was not in Virginia. I was easily able to work with the Riley and Wells law office over the internet and phone to tackle this matter. The Riley and Wells Law Firm not only represented me in my absence; but they saved me from the damage of losing my license and taking a misdemeanor charge, which could have impacted my career. I was always treated with dignity and respect and the staff kept me well informed of my situation every step of the way. It is in my experience that Riley and Wells is one of the most professional Law firms I have dealt with. I would certainly use them again and would recommend their services to anyone.

While returning to NJ from SC, my wife was cited for doing 81 in a 70 and while we actually going nowhere near 81 mph, we were not overly confident in our ability to fight the charge from such a long distance. We contacted Riley & Wells, provided the details and they were able to help us lower the charge to a non moving violation, which was a huge help. We had several VA plates in front of us, moving faster, and several behind and still the officer pulled us out of the group. (NJ Plates) Something needs to be done about the dishonest way that the State of VA rakes in 100+ million a year in fines on the backs of out of state motorists. Thanks to Riley & Wells, at least we have a fighting chance! Hopewell, VA alone on a 2 mile stretch of 295 issues over 1000 speeding tickets per month and generate roughly 1.8 million per year for their town. The only problem is, folks like us were not speeding at the rates they claim and they know that most are passing through and have to either hire an attorney or eat crow and pay the fines. Until it changes, please keep fighting for the people getting the shaft! Thank you!

Mr. Wells represented me in Hopewell, Virginia for a Reckless Driving citation of 108 in a 70 mph zone. I got this citation on my way to process into the Air Force and I could not afford to have this on my record, so I hired Mr. Wells after consulting 15 different attorneys. Mr. Wells and his law firm did an exceptional job with my case. He was able to get the judge to take a disposition and drop the charge down to improper driving, which is not a misdemeanor. I could not have been more thankful for the job Mr. Wells did. If I was a football coach, Mr. Wells would be my defensive coordinator because that is how great of a defense attorney he is. Keep in mind though that Virginia is a commonwealth and every Judge is different. However, I do not think there is a judge Mr. Wells cannot face. If you received a citation for reckless driving, I recommend you consult with Mr. Wells and he will be willing to help you out as long as you do everything he instructs you to do. I highly recommend Riley and Wells. I was reluctant to higher a lawyer and intimidated by all the mailings following my citation in Brunswick County. I needed an excellent outcome for employment reasons, and of course driving record/insurance reasons. My violation for 83/70, reckless by statute in Virginia, was reduced to defective equipment. My costs including fine and lawyers fees came out a little less than a man in front of me at the cashier. However, he was convicted of reckless, got points, and will pay more on his insurance. Because of this, he was able to easily dismiss my speeding ticket (60 in a 45) in exchange for driving school and court costs. This was not my first ticket and I probably wouldn’t have stood a chance otherwise. I am so grateful that he was able to help me out. My dad is also very happy that our insurance won’t be going up! Back in May 2016, I was driving through Virginia for a family vacation. I am from NC, so I am very unfamiliar with the roads in VA. I drove to VA in August (from FL) and on my way home I got pulled over right in Greensville going 85/70. Since this was my first time driving in VA, I had no clue about their crazy driving policy! Apparently anything over 80 is considered reckless driving!! I got a court summons on the spot...I seared for lawyers in the area when I got home and found Mitchell Wells!
