My customer service experience was extraordinarily good. The phone was answered promptly by a human being, I was immediately transferred to a human being who understood my question, was courteous and knowledgeable and able to answer my first question immediately. I had a follow-up question after doing some calculations, called back, and the same excellent service happened again. No automated voices. No run-around. Competence and courtesy. I complimented the second customer service rep on my extraordinarily positive experience as a whole. She told me that the average tenure of the staff was probably about 18 years on the job and she had been with the company for much longer than that. I commented that it is important to bring in young people and train them to do as good of a job as the older, experienced employees. She made an interesting observation that it is now difficult to find young people willing to do this job at all, and (I am now paraphrasing) those who are willing to take the job frequently seem to be constitutionally incapable of doing it well.

I currently have my mortgage through James B. Nutter and am looking for anywhere else to refinance my loan. They will treat you very nice when they want to initially sign your business, but every other aspect of their customer service after you have signed on falls very short. I got a letter from my home owners insurance saying James B Nutter had not paid my premium yet and when I called to get it straightened out you would think I am the one that was putting them out. There have been 3 other instances where I needed to talk to someone at JB Nutter and every time it is the same old rudeness and bad attitude. It is to the point that I would rather accept a larger interest rate(since I refinanced at a very good time) than have to deal with anyone at that company.

A number of my co-workers recommended working with James B. Butter, as they have developed a reputation for low rates, honest service, and a true commitment to investing in Kansas City. I was able to refinance quickly at an incredible rate. Great customer service. Payments are easily made online. They have modest offices and low overhead. They service the loans in house, which has become a rarity in the industry. Bundled mortgages that were sold and resold are what ruined the economy in 2008. Stick with a hometown lender that is honest. James B. I have been with JB Nutter for a number of years now, and during the lowering of rates nation wide, they are the only firm I am aware of that has automatically gave me the lowest rate possible allowing me to save on my VA loan with them. Recently, I received a notification, that I could refinance my loan to a lower rate again, needess to say, I excepted the offer and my payments were lowered over $100.00 a month, again. Thank you JB Nutter for your exceptional services and to Cory Stanford who took the time and patience to guide me thru the process. I can not say enough about the success I have had with this firm. My family was in the process of negotiating a contract with the seller. J.B Nutter was unavailable on a MONDAY to confirm proof of our loan so the seller went with another offer. The listing agent reached out to J.B. Nutter via email/phone and he did not contact the listing agent back. We were told he was out on his "lunch break". I reached out multiple times and was unable to reach him as well. I never received a phone call or email back from Ronald. This is unacceptable in this business! My family lost out on a home due to J.B. Nutter! Do not work with this company!

Nutter has developed and upgraded their website services for the customer that includes access to your account and statements. Now you can download your mortgage and tax statements. The next phase will include escrow analysis statements and documents in the near future. Keep up the good work and let us know when that next phase is developed.

Mark was very professional and patiently explained the process involved in refinancing my loan, He was always quick to respond to any question I had. Since I am technologically challenged, he made time at my convience for me to come to the office and sign when needed. For a refreshing change, this company invests in its community and has revitalized part of downtown Kansas City. "Nutterville" is a wonderful neighborhood of updated old homes with beautiful flowers. The no-frills attitude, straight language, and low overhead allow this mortgage company to offer the lowest refinances and mortgage rates around.

Overall, it was a decent experience. However, opportunities for improvement include making mortgage loans accessible online 24/7 and consider generating monthly statements on the loan. It is a bit surprising and disappointing that these are not currently-available features in comparison to most mortgage lenders and servicers.
