I seriously cannot believe any of the positive reviews (and boilerplate replies) for Service Experts are legitimate. Where to even begin … The salesman who seemed professional and courteous at first wound up trying to stiff me out of the rebates I was promised. He quoted me a price and included $1000 in rebates to sweeten the deal. When an appropriate amount of time had passed, I contacted this fellow about the status and was told, “Those were instant rebates taken off at the time of sale.” Despite my sending him a copy of the original quote (which clearly displayed the $1000 in rebates), despite multiple calls, and after numerous emails (and weeks), I finally had to go to his manager. Who told me (ie lied) that the check would be issued that week. Three and ½ months later, no rebates. Just last week, a customer service rep assured me the check was going to be sent by the end of the week (NOPE). Just today, the VERY SAME woman “accidentally” hung up on me when I pointed out we had just spoken about the rebates, and when I had to call HER back told me the check will be sent by the end of the month. Meanwhile, the rebate from Duke power that I was also promised? Yeh, Duke says I must have been given the wrong address or form (from Service Experts), as they have no record of receiving anything from me. Also, when the unit was installed, the technician left massive stains all over my walls. I do not mean a small smudge, nor am I overly OCD about such things. We’re talking a 3 x 3 section of off-white wall around the thermostat, which was completely covered in black stains. And these were not just hand prints, folks. It was sweltering in my attic where he was working, I know, but I truly would not expect any adult to touch the wall with such filthy hands, let alone lean against it with their entire, sweat-soaked, dust and dirt and lord-knows-what stained t-shirt. I found this same gentleman removing my Nest thermostat, which he declared “don’t control the new system,” and was unable to catch him in time before he drilled holes to install a cheap HoneyWell unit. When I expressed displeasure with this move, he told me that the Nest was shorting a fuse on the air handler … which was a lie, as I verified his claim five minutes after he left, found the wire he had broken off inside the wall, repaired it, and have had the Nest working perfectly ever since. I would mention the insulation they left all over the house, the handprint stains on the attic stairs, the trash left in my yard and what will be 4 to six months before I see any of money from their rebate scam, if at all … but hey, who’s counting at this point! In closing, I would recommend Service Experts to you if you’re the sort of person that enjoys being lied to, are itching to be ripped off, need someone to come trash up your home, and just generally dislike yourself.

2nd update: This company is the WORST. Do not waste your money or time dealing with them. They billed us $180 for a routine maintenance service that is supposed to be fully covered by an extended warranty that they offered to us due to their past mistakes. We called to clarify and the lady on the phone confirmed that we are covered by the warranty and did not need to pay the bill. Then they sent the bill to collections. Either they are completely inept at keeping their own records updated or they want to discourage us from using the free maintenance that they offered to us. Either way, be warned - this is no way to run a business. Update: They came back and rectified all issues, made it clear they care about keeping our business. Changed from 2 to 3 stars. Maybe more to come? Original Review: We had our system replaced and we chose Service Experts (SE) because they gave us the best quote. We have an older house with a basement and the old system was no longer functional. The SE salesman told my husband where the new ductwork would be routed and how it would look - custom made hard duct routed close to the wall so as to be out of the way. All sounded good, but once the new system was in place it did not look as he had described.... So, SE replaced the flexible duct and put in hard duct....I scheduled the town inspection and it failed....We called and they sent a very nice Service Experts rep who fixed the leaks....Stayed home for another day for the second inspection, this time it passed. Two stars because the system does work and our house is cool, and the new thermostat is nice, but would not recommend this company based on our overall experience.

Professional and courteous service by knowledgeable maintenance and service technicians. I have done business with these folks and the the prior owners for several decades. I had a zone system installed in 2001 to accommodate an addition to my home to enhance the efficiency of the existing system so the system would handle the additional square footage at a much lower cost than a new system would have been. The sales personnel and the technicians work with you on an individual basis to solve the HVAC challenges at hand which I appreciate. My most recent maintenance visit associated with the maintenance contract I have had for many years just reminded me why I continue to do business with Service Experts. My experience with the individuals I have dealt with earns the a "Good People" status in my book. I hope Service Experts continues to put their customers first as many businesses today seem to have gotten away from. I encourage any customer of any business to always do your homework and ask questions. Lots of questions. You get a good idea of the integrity and professionalism for the folks you are dealing with. Service Experts continues to pass that test with me.

RUN AS FAR AS U CAN Update: they still have never got back to me even after relentless calls and emails. Run as far as you can. Update: I contacted them through email as their response on the review said. No one responded via email nor via phone. Again run away this is the worst company you can ever use. They just want to replace ur AC, their prices are way higher than average. I called them because a friend recommended them. I set up an appointment, the technician was nice. but had no interest in fixing the problem they just wanted to replace the AC system. A Consultant showed up and kept pushing me to replace it, and kept talking me into replacing it. Basically worse experience ever and they charged me $99 I want my money back its a rip off. Run away. Plus they quoted me $9,829.00 + Duct cleaning is $459.00 = $10,288.00 . RUN AWAY. i fixed my AC for 300 btw

Ronald Minter is a first class service technician who was very helpful and persistent when he ran into a problem in a normal service call. The call lasted about 7 hours because the icomfort thermostat turned out to fail after the service work was done. Ronald kept with it... tried to fix it... made the calls he had to make... finally had to go for a new thermostat. Throughout the day he was courteous in what could have been a frustrating experience. He wanted to have it done right before he left. The 4 star (vs 5) is because it turned out to be a long, long call... and the part he needed to replace had to be purchased from Service experts (not carried by the company). The other thing Ronald did that we appreciate was to improve air flow to a room that had not been receiving as much flow. That was appreciated.

Brett Beamer of Service Experts came to the house to replace the evaporator coil in one of our A/C units. He had quoted me a price previously before ordering the part. Brett completed the work in about 4 hours (he told me up front it would 4 - 5 hours). He did the work in a very professional manner, explaining to me what he was doing and showing me what he was doing. He was friendly and courteous and a great guy to talk with. At the end, the price he quoted me was exactly the price I paid. While he working on the unit, he also spotted a problem that should have been corrected during a previous maintenance check. He corrected the problem at no charge, even though that was not part of the work he was performing.

First, the good: The technician worked about 2 hours checking everything out and cleaning out the dirt and leaves that had gotten into the cooling coils. He said the systems were working fine and the freon levels were good. But, we were told that the cost would be $39 per system. That turned out to be too good to be true. He wanted $39 for heat and $39 for cooling, times two since there were two units. My definition of a system is one heating and cooling combination. He recommended that the motor capacitors be changed at $207 each (times three). I found them online for $10 each). I can understand a trip charge but $207 each is very high. He also suggested a UV light air purifier at $2000. So, overall- Use caution.

I woke up with no AC on the morning of 06/15/16. Both thermostats had blank screens and the main circuit breaker for the furnace was tripped. With various commitments during the day I was not able to do preliminary checking until late in the afternoon. It was obvious that the Furnace Unit had a problem and the Service Experts folks were able to schedule a technician for me late that evening. The technician actually arrived 2 hours ahead of schedule and quickly determined that the blower motor had shorted to ground. The unit is only 18 months old so we can attribute the failure to "Infant Mortality". He was able to get a replacement blower motor and installed it quickly. Problem solved.

We had our HVAC unit replaced earlier this year and had a excellent experience. We had been preparing ourselves that we would need a new unit soon, it was difficult to comprehend when the time came to replace our unit. We had an excellent experience with the Service Experts technicians. Doug Pagliolo was our sales representative and he did a wonderful job. He thorough explained the options that were available to use and how they would fit into our budget. Doug answered all of our additional questions regarding our new system. The removal and installation process was as smooth as explained and expected, given complexity and scope of the project. Thank you Doug Pagliolo and Service Experts!!

Excellent experience! The main office had gotten me an earlier time for the technician to show up as their schedule was busy and I had a time scheduled that was 3 weeks out. The technician, Gabe Smith, showed up early and had been to my house last year checked the furnace and made sure everything was up to spec. One of the parts had to be replaced, but he was able to get the part from the main office, be back within a hour, installed and tested it, and I got a discount for having an annual service contract. Great customer service, experience and communication. It really does say something about a company when it is the same techs every year and the service is consistent.

After having our fall inspection by Gabe, on his recommendation, we decided to speak to a sales consultant about having our HVAC system replaced. Rob Mitchell came out & explained all the options to us. He is extremely knowledgeable & personable, answered all our questions & 3 days later the technicians were there to install the new furnace & air conditioner. Fred & Nate showed up first thing Monday morning & immediately started working. They finished sooner that I expected & did a terrific job, cleaning everything up before they left. I am very pleased with the new system & will continue to use Service Experts in the future.

I have been pleased with Service Experts for the past 5 years. For about $150 a year, they keep my expensive heat pump in good working order. On 11/12/15, their technician Ronald Minter came out for routine fall servicing. He detected and solved a complex technical problem that would have shut down the machine in cold weather. (The pump kept shutting off prematurely.) This problem had bedeviled an earlier company that never was able to fix it properly. Heat pumps are great, but they are complicated machines. I am very happy with the servicing I received today from Mr. Minter. He was courteous, and best of all, competent.

On a recent Saturday night my heat pump stopped working. Thinking it would be impossible to get someone to look at it before Monday, I called Service Experts at 8:00am Sunday, I was surprised to get an answer, and 90-minutes later Gabe was at my house. He diagnosed the problem and got the system working well enough to get me through the night, and Monday the indoor coil unit was replaced. I was very pleased with the responsiveness- and even more so with communications every step of the way- appointment scheduling, confirmations by phone when someone was on the way, and clear explanations of the problem and how to solve it.
