Today is the coldest day in Upstate NY in over 2 years. Of course my mothers furnace stops working. She had Roland J. Down, now Service Experts to install this furnace approximately two years ago. I have some complaints about the service, not just the fact that it is a newer unit and should not break down, but also because today is a cold day (1/3/13) and she does not have any heat. She purchased the extended plan for $200.00 for 12-months of 24 hour service. She contacted them at 4:00 PM, as of 10:30 PM they still have yet to come to service the furnace. I must not alsdo forget to mention that she was told earlier this evening that they would not be able to come until tomorrow (1/4/13). As a homeowner myself I will keep this in the back of my mind, It doesnt seem right for a company to charge for a service but not honor that service. At the time she purchased the extended service plan, she was given the idea that no matter what problem or what time, they would be there to service the equipment. Pretty pathetic Roland, pretty pathetic. I will make sure all of my friends who think of Roland for services that they reconsider.
Let me start by saying the first impression was great. Lost heat right before leaving on vacation. Tech came over and figured out issue. Was informed we were leaving for vacation next day. Left instructions with Tech on entering when we were away once part came in to repair. Came home to a 42 degree house and a letter saying that they could not contact us so they never came. Called immediately and was told no tech was available that day but would be first stop the following day. Received a call at 8:43 am saying Tech was in route. At 10:00am called back and talked to unfriendly Sheila who stated that first stop is only a time frame from 8-10am. I kindly reminded Sheila that it was after 10:00. She grow extremely annoyed with my questions. I hate giving bad reviews. This company seems to have a good reputation. So if I was in charge I could get better. You have a customer that you dropped the ball on once and instead of picking it up and running you fumbled it down the road.
I had a flood in my house which ruined my air ducts. I called Roland J Down and I spoke with Cheri. Cheri has been the BEST!!! She has guided me in the right directions , so very helpful . Kind, Considerate. Cheri went way above and beyond my expectations. Very Professional. I finally got my ducts in this week. The Techs John, Kevin and Derrick. They were professional, kind and friendly. . They were neat and clean workers. I would recommend this company. I really want to Thank Cheri. You kept me calm. My Family and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A warm house finally! I again wanted to Thank Cheri for all her help. I had a question about the duct work . She again went above and beyond sent John out again . I am extremely happy w the way I was treated. Cheri makes you feel like we are all one family . She made the whole process painless
When we considered upgrading our old air-conditioner and furnace with new high efficiency units from Service Experts (Roland J. Down), we were very nervous about potential mess and hassle. However, were very pleasantly surprised at how easy their team of installers made it for us. John,Chris,Justin,Frank and Trevor were excellent. They even covered their shoes and placed canvas over the floors to protect them. It was a no hassle experience. Their service adviser, Cheri, even stopped in to make sure things were proceeding without a glitch. We are very happy with the result as well. Our home is cozier and more evenly heated. Awesome service! A huge huge huge thank you, to Mr. Rick Lennox. He came on time, resolved the issue, late at night, on a Sunday. He was thorough in examining the water heater and investigating where the water was coming from. Quickly deduced that the water was coming from an alternate location and fixed the problem. Rick went above and beyond and even checked in to see how we made out with the flooded basement the following day. He was not just concerned about getting in and out of the job but courteous and understanding of what the job means to the people who live in that home. Thank you Rick and Roland J. Down on a stand up employee!
We did not end up hiring RolandJDown so this is not against their quality of installation , but their quote was horrendously expensive compared to local competitors. We are trying to have a boiler installed for our hydronic heat system and they wanted over $10k to install a $2500 boiler . I understand the work required and it may take a professional 4-5 hours to install. The sales guy tried all he could to make the work sound complex and he said the high price covers them running into "unknown issues". There is no refund though if the everything goes smoothly. Just to compare 2 other reputable companies quoted me $5k for the same work.
On Wednesday 12/14 i had my furnace replaced by roland j down, the technicians Tim and Rusty were great. They arrived early and did a good quality job. All my questions were answered. They did a phenomenal job on the instal, and cleaned up nice. I love how they wore foot bootys, and layed down runners, as not to damage my floors. With that said Cheri Feldman, the salesperson I dealt with was awesome as well. She was imformative, and was willing to go out of her way to go get space heaters for my family until the repairs were completed. All and all very professional company. If you need hvac service, give them a try.
We had no heat and called Roland J. Down......a service expert, Rob Smith, was able to come out to our house and help find a solution so that we could have heat. He was very nice and thorough. We also discussed getting a new furnace and air conditioning and he was able to contact Cyle Haggerty, who was at our house within an hour to give us an estimate. Both Rob Smith and Cyle Haggerty were very nice. They did not try to sell us anything, but instead informed us of our options. We were very happy with the service that we received from Roland J. Down today! We would highly recommend them. Thank you! :)
I have been using Roland J. Down/Service Experts to service my furnace for many years and have always been extremely satisfied with the results. I have an annual contract, so have frequent contact with reps: Justin Sloan was on the case today and detected a problem that would likely have resulted in a nonfunctional furnace with winter looming. Justin, as has been my experience with all Roland J. Down reps I have kept in my basement, was a great combination of technical knowledge, efficiency, and positive attitude. This suburban homeowner recommends Roland J. Down/Service Experts.

Service Technician Bob Main arrived on time as scheduled, was very courteous and very knowledgeable about the HVAC system in my home. He gave me very helpful instructions on how best to perform regular homeowner-appropriate maintenance on my unit. He successfully performed trouble-shooting on my unit to solve a problem I have experienced with my condensate pump, while performing necessary yearly maintenance on our gas furnace. Bob provided a very positive customer experience on behalf of your company. Hold onto him, he serves your company and its customers well!
We just had our furnace replaced today. Many thanks to Kevin and Bradley for doing an excellent job. They arrived on time and were professional and courteous. The work area was spotless when completed and our old unit was removed. I am so glad that we decided to replace the furnace on a warm September day instead of the middle of January under a no heat situation. It sure was a lot less stressful. We are also grateful for the available rebates offered. Please note that I could only edit my review from 8 months ago and not post a new one. But still 5 stars!!!

Never got past the girl on the phone. I called and asked if somebody could look at the furnace at my brother’s house. She said she would have to speak to my brother for permission to service his furnace. I explained to her that my brother is disabled and that I am his legal guardian. I offered to provide her with the guardianship papers. She said she still would need to speak with my brother because he owns the house. What exactly is the point of speaking with an incapacitated person? I told her I would call somebody else.

Roland J Down has maintained our heating and air-conditioning systems for more than 10 years and have always provided exemplary service. We recently decided to replace both systems, and Sean, Jim, and Joe, the installers, were skilled, efficient and very nice. On top of that, the sales representative was very knowledgable and terrifically helpful in selecting the right systems, and then helping familiarize us with the new features. We look forward to a continued relationship with this company.
Two technicians (Konrad Edwards & Sean Whitman) installed a new Lennox furnace in our home. They removed the old furnace, modified the plenums to fit the new furnace, attached all the needed air and gas connections, installed the new smart thermostat, cleaned up the work area and hauled the old furnace and materials away. They arrived exactly when promised at 8:30 am and were done and gone by 3:00 pm. They were courteous, timely and neat. Excellent job. Furnace and thermostat work great!
Pat G responded to an after hours plumbing service call at my house. He kept me apprised as to when he would arrive at my house. After assessing the problem he made sure we had water and told me he would be back in the morning to fix the problem. He called me first thing the next morning to tell me when he would arrive. He took care of the problem as he explained the night before. Pat G was prompt, professional, and a pleasure to deal with; and the plumbing job was taken care of. Thanks.
Service technician (Bob) was terrific. He arrived on time and was professional and courteous. He came for routine scheduled maintenance, and found a small, but important part, that was beginning to fail. He replaced the part while he was here, saving me a repair call, and a system failure down the road. I Have been a Service Plus customer for a very long time. I highly recommend Roland J. Bradley,Kevin and Justin were outstanding technicians/installers! These guys are so great that they even took care of my dogs when I wasn’t home!! The service that was provided from Terry and Dave even before installation was completed was extremely professional! I would recommend Roland J down to anyone looking for an air-conditioning or furnace installation.When they had completed their job they even cleaned up after themselves, couldn’t ask for a better service!
I would like to commend Ethan and Rusty for doing a great job with the installation of my parents new energy efficient furnace. They were very polite and thoroughly explained how to use the thermostat. Then they explained the operation of the new furnace and showed me all the key points we need to be aware of. They also cleaned up all their debris. Two very nice gentlemen. I HIGHLY recommend them and the entire staff at Roland J. Downs (Dave Tony and Brian too).
