This place is a joke and the other reviews are proof of that. I have been forced to deal with Tylene Cooley at Hastings because their client (cleaning company in Madison WI) illegally entered my apartment and took my belongings. The value of what they took is $1005. I first tried to deal with the cleaning company directly, and their owner has been very helpful, but they cannot pay out anything over $500 without insurance being involved. Completely understandable. I have been trying to deal with Tylene to get reimbursed for what was taken from me, but she is very unresponsive and unprofessional. Every time we speak (which is rare because she never responds) she tries to minimize the damages and haggle with me. This is not a haggling situation...my belongings were taken from my apartment, and her job is to reimburse me for that. After over a month of getting nowhere with Tylene, I attempted to contact her supervisor, Jill Klostermann, to get some fire underneath her. Instead of giving me a call back, Jill pushed me off to Tylene again. It has been going on for a month now and they are in no hurry to finish the job. Avoid them at all costs.
Bad Company, Bad company, Bad Company. I was in an accident that was not my fault. I have a pristine dodge ram that I took excellent car of and it cost quite a bit of $. I got the repair bill from the auto place that I was going to have fix it and this insurance company took there estimate and cut it down so they could put inferior parts back on my truck.(But you better pay your premiums on time). Terrible experience. We are looking elsewhere for insurance. plus the guy that calls me on the phone to go over my claim sounds like he is in the right place with the right job. They have to be paying him a lot of $ (NOT). But its probably the only job he could find with no qualifications.
wonderful! Stressful process having a house fire, but Mike Raymond (our adjuster) was very responsive and easy to work with. At the end of the day, this company gave me my home back. Mike referred my Husband and I to the restoration company and our home is now beautiful!! Hastings Mutual has some great people working for them, from our agent Fleece insurance, to the Lady at the late night call center who filed our claim (i forgot her name, kinda a stressful time for me) to our adjuster Mike and everyone in between. We hope we never lose Hastings!
We had an employee rear end another vehicle and the claim was paid in full in just a couple of weeks. Prior to that an air compressor under tow was damaged in transport and again they paid it in full in just two weeks. Our company with 40+ employees has been insured by Hastings Mutual Insurance for the past 8 years and have always received excellent service. We also have a great independent agent who is a great help.
Way over priced. They ended up still charging me after I cancelled. It was a over month long ordeal to try to get my $800 back from them. Also, not to mention they do bi-monthly payments which is horrible to budget for. Steer clear of this company! Switch to Allstate and I am saving over $700 per year! Better customer service, better coverage, and an actual reputable company.
Nothing lower than 1 star? Hit by one of their insured, dragged out claim for 2+ months. their insured admitted fault and was ticketed. When finally almost paid off shorted a car payment in settlement (made 2 payment for a totaled car. Wont contact us now, Wisconsin office of insurance commissioner will receive a complaint!
Had them for 2 years, inquired about adding additional insurance and they refused to renew my policy even after I paid in advance. Said it raised flags???? Rude and unprofessional. Read the reviews this company will set you back even if you never have had any claims like myself . 1 star reviews are accurate

Terrible company!!! I applied for house insurance from this company and they withdrew $900 from my bank account. Then they cancelled me, then withdrew another $400. It has taken 6 weeks to get my money back and this is something they apparently do to many of their "customers".
This company does not report you have insurance with them. This will damage your insurance credit report and if you switch to another company they will want to put you on high risk. Who cares about insurance they damage you in other ways. Strong avoid recommendation.
We had them for insurance and they will fight you every step of the way and make you life hell when you have something really bad happen, there prices were low for my husband but high for me.....I have never had issues they just run high for women I guess.
A week after I was hit by a Hastings Mutual insured. I still had no claim number, no one would return my calls or emails. VERY FRUSTRATING COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!
They have been a great insurance company for our agency and have always done a great job on claims and service for their clients.
Charged me after canceling. They are insurance thieves. I should of checked their reviews first.
