Horrible! I have three PetFirst Insurance policies- for my dog and two cats- and I submitted a claim for less than $500 after the 90 deadline to submit claims because I had a devastating situation. A faulty furnace caused major smoke damage to my house that destroyed most of my belongings and required me to have the items I was able to salvage professionally cleaned by a variety of companies who specialize in smoke damage. When I explained the situation to Petfirst I was told it was illegal for them to reimburse me. PetFirst told me that the insurance laws in CT (where I live) prevented them from doing so legally. I told them that this information was incorrect. I had another half a dozen conversations with Sr Customer service representatives who told me that they had discussed my situation with their compliance dept., their attorneys, the underwriter and that they all agreed it was illegal. On one of my last calls I was told that the underwriter said that, had the issue with my furnace happened within 30 days of the date of service (rather than the approximately 60 days after the date of service when the devastation occurred) then they would have been able to legally reimburse me for my claim. I again stated that there was no law in CT that prevents them from reimbursing me legally and the customer service representative said she would reach out, once agin, to the underwriter and call me back the following day. Instead I got a call from the head of the customer service and claims department who said that (contrary to what I had been told on all of the other calls with Petfirst) my claim was denied because Petfirst chose not to reimburse me because they are not required to do so because their contract states that claims need to be submitted within 90 days. He claimed not to know why I had been told a reimbursement would be illegal on my many other communications with Petfirst. However, he said that Petfirst NEVER makes exceptions -for ANY type of tragedy that prevents someone from being able to submit a claim within their 90 day deadline unless it is a situation that the law requires them to do so i.e. Hurricane Sandy. Petfirst was clearly dishonest in their previous communications with me in an attempt to disguise the real reason for rejecting my claim. Pet first makes their profit margins their only priority and places no value on assisting customers who have experienced a personal tragedy. I hope to find a new insurance carrier with better company values.

Not even waist your time an money on this insurance. We had a trial for 30 day my pet had an emergency problem they never pay me. They found the most stupid excuses to not pay. Even tho my vet did a letter for them explaining all the issues with my dog. They charged me after my trial , they waited until my free trial was over to tell me my claim was gonna take longer , then after that ,they charged me my first premium , and they came out with a denial saying that i could apply for an appeal. My baby vet did the narrative exactly as they asked explaining the issue with my dog ,i filed the appeal guess what they charged me my second premium because again they took a moth to give me a result and the appeal was denied as well. So just dont get this insurance they will find the way to not pay and keep charging you the premium . Now i cancelled my policy i hope everyone who read this dont get this ins and be safe of this fraud! They dont even deserve 1 star for lying to ppl.

I purchased PetFirst Insurance for my dog as soon as i got him. I learned from past experience that pet insurance is good. I always thought of just putting some money away for his vet bills. But just like our health bills they are expensive. When my dog had to have some lab work done and i sent in the claim form, PetFirst accepted my claim and paid for some of the bill. I was so happy to have PetFirst Insurance, as this bill would have put me behind a little. But PetFirst came to the rescue, thank you PetFirst for being there for me. andy and Scooby from Ohio

I have had this insurance for six years and paid $22 a month. That is nearly $1600 out of my pocket. Never made a claim until now and it has been an absolute nightmare. Out of a $600 vet visit Petfirst decides they can reimburse $40. My dog needs a $2500 surgery that is not covered. Canceling this garbage ASAP. If you own a pet. Save your money. Even the good plan is worthless. I could have made hundreds of dollars in the time I wasted filing a claim to receive back $40. Beware.

When little Clementine had to be taken to the pet emergency center it was so stressful. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and had to stay over night and be hospitalized for 3 subsequent days with her main Vet for IV treatments. Thankfully Clem is doing well now. Having a sick pet is stressful both emotionally and financially. Pet first was amazing !!!! I was reimbursed within 10 days ! Thank you pet first !!

My dog (a rescue I adopted a year ago) was diagnosed with a heart condition, so it was great news that the monthly medication will be covered under my policy. I recommend that pet owners of a dog of any age or type (puppy to senior, and/or rescue) get a PetFirst policy as soon as they get their dog. It makes economic sense, and it allows you to make better healthcare decisions for your dog.

I am so glad that I got pet insurance! It was the best decision I ever made. I have a cat and we are both so much happier because of PetFirst. It is easy and convenient to submit claims and keep track of the status. And the best part of all is getting that check in the mail that covers some costly expenses. My kitty is going to live beyond his 9 lives and stay healthier.

Been using them for a few years now. Looks like Customer Service improved a lot recently. Claims were processed quickly and received the check as well unlike previous times. Also like the good coverage they have. The website needs a lot of improvement though. It is okay but still not much of information is there. Overall rating is very good to excellent (4.5).

Soon after I adopted my cat (at three months of age) I fully insured him through PetFirst. Just short of a year of his adoption the cat was diagnosed with epilepsy. The costs were expensive but PetFirst had covered (what seemed to be over 80% of them) within a couple of months. This has been a great relief. I forgot to mention that he is a service animal.

Timely processing. Happy with decisions and payments. I have had this ins for my rescue since I got him in 2010. Never really used it until a few months ago when he really began going downhill. Appreciated having PetFirst very much. My precious boy passed away on 2/14. If I ever take in another dog, I will definitely get coverage thru PetFirsr.
