I learned that Ga Power would compensate homeowners for energy usage improvements and went to their website to learn more. I was already underway with a renovation and had already begun to make envirnmental improvements so was not in the market for a contractor. Howard was idenitifed as one of about a dozen professionals approved to assess our situation. I called Howard and he explained the process (including his fee). He came to our home did his testing and turned in the report to Ga Power. He kept me informed and told me what we needed to supply cautioning that the biggest delay may be in the information to supplement his report that only I (or my contractor) could provide. He filed his report and we collected all remaining data. We submitted and received the refund exactly as he described. He invoiced us and actually reduced the invoice as he had slightly over estimated the time he might require. Howard was upfront honest and helpful. I highly recommend him and suggest earlier rather than later is the best way to use his expertise. Dave

I had Georgia Power do a free audit to find out ways to save money on energy bills. They wrote up a generic report -- not specific to our home and not helpful. As I searched the GA Pwr website, I found out about whole house energy audits -- that GA Pwr gives rebates toward. Howard Katzman was one of their top five recommendations. I chose Howard because I liked that he does the audit but does not also do the repairs. (I felt like there could be a conflict of interest for the others who recommend you do certain projects and they actually do the work. ) Howard was fantastic! He is truly an expert at what he does. He is thorough, detailed and patient. He gave us a detailed report and encouraged us to contact him with any questions (which I did and he got back to me immediately.) Howard takes his work seriously and is really in your home to help you!

Initially motivated by the fact that our house was not cool during the summer despite the AC being on all day, we hired Howard Katzman to do a whole-house energy assessment. Howard was prompt in responding to our initial inquiry and came to do the assessment one morning shortly thereafter. There was quick turnaround with our report, which identified key problems in our house, as well as recommendations on how to improve these issues. While Howard only does assessments, he answered many questions we had (and we had many!) by email as we pursued bids from contractors to do the work. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Howard has the heart of a teacher and took time to explain his process and some of the science behind what he does. He even offered suggestions on small items that any homeowner can do for energy savings. Best of all, his final report ranks the improvements for best return on investment! We have a large old house that we wanted to make more energy efficient. We hired Howard Katzman in July 2014 to do a energy assessment. His report was excellent; he had a very clear list of things we could improve, along with their priorities. He was also very responsive on follow up, and communicated with the contractors we eventually hired to do the work. One of the main reasons we chose him was that he is "independent" (he does the assessments, but not the work). But he also made good recommendations for contractors, which worked out well.

We were originally going to get 2 new HVAC systems, but after working closely with Howard and using his results and recommendations, we only had to get one new HVAC and spent our limited resources on insulation and other home improvements to save on energy costs.
