NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! I entered my information for a quote online and I never signed any documents to initiate a policy. They used my information to bind a policy I never agreed to and billed my mortgage bank. Even worse, I never received policy documents for this mystery policy. A month goes by since the "policy" was initiated on 3/10/17 and I receive a Notice of Reinstatement in the mail stating they are reinstating this policy. WTF!! I have never done business with Universal other than requesting a quote online. Also, I would like to add that they were very quick to suck out money from my mortgage bank and they are slow to respond and refund. VERRRRRYYYY SHADDDYYY BUYER BEWARE. Find another company in South Florida for insurance. If these people would give me a policy for free I would never take it! I wish I would give less than one star. It looks like they are telling their agents to give good reviews because they are terrible. Why are all the positive comments from employees????

Due to Hurricane Irma, my 87 year old mother was forced to evacuate from her condo. After the storm her condo was uninhabitable due to water damage. This was a very stressful time for my Mom but the agent that we dealt with, Steven Goldsmith, at Universal Property and Casualty, was amazing! He responded immediately to our claim. He treated my Mom like she were his own. He promised that he would do everything that he could to expedite our claim so that my Mom could get her life back in order, and he delivered! The day we submitted our paperwork and documentation for our claim he called us with a settlement and then had the check in the mail the following day. I have never had an insurance agent that was so thoughtful and attentive. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of insurance. They are very straightforward, honest and efficient!

We had roof damage from hurricane Irma, and we called Universal Prop & Cas Ins co. I spoke to David Tamangas, and he took my initial info of what happened. He said he would call later that day and get back to me which he did ! I explained to him that I had taken before and after pictures of the roof. He asked me to email him the pics (which I did the next day) and he would get back to me. The next day he called and said that he had seen and measured the roof (google earth?) as well as my pictures and stated what the payment would be ! From start to finish, it was 3 days ! never thought things would go smoothly and quickly. The next day, we got a follow-up phone call (Eric?) to make sure that David had called us back. The speed and efficiency of this company and their employees, took the sting out of a bad event. Thank you so much

Working with them has been miserable. The customer service is horrible. When trying to ask questions for my clarification about a claim, I was told "I am doing things behind the scenes that I do not have to disclose to you." This was after I was cut off speaking multiple times. Working with their employee named Teresa has made this one of the most traumatizing experiences ever. It has been 2 weeks and I was left in the dark. Today I get a call back with the worst customer service I have ever experienced. To be told it could take another 60-90 days, unacceptable. On top of that, the person that was extremely rude over the phone is the one who makes a final decision about the damage done to my vehicle by their policy holder. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE. I will be filing a claim with the BBB.

These people will find a reason to cancel your policy if you open a legitimate claim without any remose. They did this to us after the piping in our FL home failed. They claimed the house was neglected when in reality we just put a brand new roof, new Trane a.c., and we have never neglected the essential care of our home. They kicked us out during hurricane season, our last day of coverage was literally the day hurricane Irma passed. They do NOT follow their own guidelines on claim payouts, specifically on time frames. On a claim worth $40k+ dollars they start the mitigation (after losing our paperwork - 8 months later) at $5,000 SHADY!!!! Also, they will cancel your policy if you have a home based business, even if all you do is office work on your own. They did this to my father. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. We filed a claim on October 3, 2016. After several phone calls and left messages we still have no resolution nor have we ever received a return phone call. All I am told is that they are busy, the claim is being reviewed, the review has been expedited, etc. We have heard every excuse possible. Now we have had to paid almost $7,000.00 out of our pocket and we are still waiting. Monday will be 6 weeks since the claim was filed and our house is still a disaster. If I was 6 weeks late paying my premium my insurance would be cancelled but they do not afford the consumer the same courtesy of getting claims resolved quickly. We now have to hire an attorney to get this resolved. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

biggest rip off ever, last September we had a hail storm and a tree branch fell on my house and ripped off my gutter, i made a claim and they came out and had the nerve to tell me its because my gutters were old, had nothing to do with the 10 ft branch that was still on roof, so instead of arguing i just made up my mind to have new gutters and facia replaced out of my own pocket (wich was done in November), i was just going to swap ins companys in april when it was time to renew (since i was already paid in full), so now in February i recieved a notice that they will not renew my home owners due to the shape of my gutters (lol i guess they dont know i replaced them already since the branch ripped them off), lol i wasnt gonna renew but now i will tell my story EVERYWHERE

Worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. They are definitely fraudulent. I had damages to my roof due to hurricane Irma, my roof damaged, my fence damaged, excessive amount of debris and this supposedly was all covered under my policy. Until it was time to pay for my damanges. They are sending me $199 check for my damages. After almost a month waiting they tell me this. What a joke I can’t even pay for someone to pick up the trees and branches outside my home! This company is a rip off I paid my insurance in full in July and if I would have known I definitely would’ve find a different company! Do not insure your home with this company they will take your money, and not cover absolutely anything when you have damages.

This insurance company is a joke. My mother has had them since she bought her house july 2005. Never missed a payment nor was she late on a payment... Almost 4 months ago drunken teens racing down the road ran straight into the nursery of her daycare ( which is also covered on this insurance). Well here she is 3.5 months down the road and no payment has been recieve but she did get a letter stating that her policy is canceled because she is now a risk factor... Why would her own insurance drop her for something someone else did??? Shes been fighting with her own insurance to get her house fixed.. Not to mention its exposed to outside conditions... Definitely dont use this agency for home owners insurance!!!

2 months after buying a house and getting insurance with them they give notice of cancellation unless the roof is replaced in not even 30 days. As a head carpenter for a class a contractor I had already done all needed repairs, skylight, flashing, and collar replacement, and had a separate licensed roofing contractor inspect and write a letter certifying the roof had several years of life left. Who has thousands of dollars to replace a roof immediately after purchasing a home much less getting a roofer contractor out to replace it within 30 days? Now are not happy with that and cancelling me. Seems like a racket to take a couple months payment risk free then get rid of you before any chance of claims.

Thank you for being there for us when our roof was damaged. Your adjuster came out right away examined our roof set up a claim number. Within a couple of weeks Universal Property & Claims made sure the money was there for the contractor to pull to buy what he needed to put a new roof on my house before the leak could damage the inside of my house. Two days later I had a new roof. Thank you Universal Insurance for moving so quickly to make sure we had the new roof we needed right away. I have mailed in my premium for next year. This was the first time I had a problem and it was nice to see my Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company was there for me." Thank You Again For All Your Help."

I called universal Insurance because I received a letter stating that an error had occurred when inputting my checking account number. I spoke with a person whose name is Kirkland but he was very rude and not helpful or maybe he brought his personal problem with him to work. However, after calling again, I spoke with Christen and he was very pleasant and helpful with answering the questions that I had concerning the account. Mr. Christen, keep up the good work because attitude matter when dealing with the public. Moreover, you are the professional and are trained to answer questions that customers or policy holders might have. Again, Than you.

Sent a letter, and copy of statement that my insurance is with another carrier now and expect a refund, date of issuance included. Signature had to be included, FYI for when you cancel. Got letter today saying my insurance was cancelled with Universal. There was no refund for the time I had the other insurance. The reason I found another company in the first place is the rudeness of a woman named Kathy. Even have the FAX transmission the letter made it to the correct destination. If there was a way to list minus number of stars I would. Stupid and rude does not make good customer service.

Beware this Company! They use "Bait and Switch" tactics. Initially you get a really good quote and rate then after you pay money and think you have a policy they change the replacement value of the property that in my case nearly doubled the annual premium. They think they have you then, the paper work you get is so confusing that you really cannot tell what is going on. They say you owe a minimum amount at the time but when and if you look deeper you will see the Policy Premium has increased dramatically. God only knows what would happen if you actually had a claim - BEWARE!!

Ive had this company for 10 months. I had flood damage in my house August of 2016. This company is great at receiving my money, but will not move the process forward in helping me receive my funds to fix damages. It took til November to receive a check to start construction, and I have yet to hear from anyone regarding my property loss supplemental check which was sent to them for review in December of 2016. Affordable rates and terrible customer care. Empty promises, slow processes, terrible communication, and careless attitude is what Ive faced so far. Good luck everyone!

I have been an agent for Universal Property and Casualty for 11 years. I represent many different homeowner carriers and in my opinion, Universal Property has very competitive rates. Their customer service is extremely friendly and accommodating. In the past, if any of my insureds had an issue regarding their policy, it simply takes just one phone call and I am able to get the problem resolved immediately. The coverages and options that they offer are very comprehensive. I would highly suggest any potential insured to consider them to be at the top of their choices.

After being told the roof was in good order. I received a letter stating I must replace a few shingles . If not done before September 1st. I used a licenced roofer which was referred by the insurance company .He informed them the repairs were done on August 30th. And after evacuating for hurricane . I came home to a cancelled policy and a check dated August 30th . Mind you I just closed on the prorpety July 17th. Thank God the storm did little damage that I inteneded on fixing out of pocket. DO NOT CLOSE YOUR NEXT PROPERTY WITH THIS COMPANY. PAY THE EXTRA .
