Short Version: Exceptional and rare group of attorneys and staff!!!! Just hire them when you get the chance, you WILL NOT get a better team of attorneys and staff to work with and represent you!!!!!!!!!!! Detail: In October 2009 I was involved in a situation whereby I was assaulted and later arrested for a Felony of assault with a deadly weapon. My family called The Law Office of David Benowitz, along with various other offices over the weekend to obtain an attorney for me. This was the ONLY firm to ever call back and quite instantly, beginning to work with my family and I almost immediately. After being in jail for the first time in my life (and in DC of all places) I was a wreck, physically and emotionally injured. All of the fear I felt two days later before my arraignment, Attorney Roseanna Chase approached me that very Monday and relieved so much of the anxiety I felt. After my arraignment I was escorted to her office, the Law Office of David Benowitz, where the legal process began for me. Throughout the next 6 months I worked closely with Roseanna on my case. She kept me updated on the entire process including investigations, court dates, explanations of the many “what next/ what if” questions I often called her about. Roseanna was amazing at keeping me abreast of every detail of procedure and updates of my case from all angles. She has always been firm and honest about my case, never “keeping me in the dark” about anything and always being completely truthful about what I could expect at any point in the process. Later, at my final trial, she was extremely firm and strong in the courtroom. She demonstrated her highly legal mind and experience and showed no fear, alleviating much of my own anxiety and uncertainty. At this trial, where I had pled not guilty to what became of my felony, 2 misdemeanors, Roseanna made a Motion for Judgement of Acquittal and won this motion on both counts. Apparently this rarely and almost never happens, just proving how efficient Roseanna and the Office of David Benowitz really is. She was highly prepared and I felt like I was on a team with her the whole time because she never kept me wondering about what was happening in the Courtroom. She was truly exceptional and efficient in Court. I have seen many attorneys and legal staff throughout my over 6 years of experience working in the legal field, and I have honestly never met a group of attorneys who work so efficiently individually and as a team as this group of attorneys and legal staff. I was never in court by myself, always called, texted and/or emailed often and treated with the utmost honesty, directness and empathy by all of the attorneys and staff I worked with. My case was very uncertain for most of the 6 months, but Roseanna used all of her knowledge and experience to make the judicial process work to its fullest capability. Attorneys David Benowitz and Jason Kalafat also worked with me on several occasions when Roseanna was involved in other trials and matters and they were amazing as well. Also, the staff that I personally worked with including Patrick Henning, Matt Lawson and Marquita Johnson, were and are an indispensable portion of the team. They each aided me at any and every time I called and were nothing but courteous and direct with me. Everyone at this Firm was incredibly exceptional at their professions and I am unable to repay them for the wonderful experience I had with them in this process. They kept me hopeful during one of the most difficult periods in my life where I was suffering physically and emotionally and they never failed to go out of their way at any time to make the process easier. I cannot thank or recommend their exceptional quantity and quality of service enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son was facing a drug charge, and we wanted the absolute best representation for him. We went on the internet and looked for someone who was local and was working often with the court system in DC, and Dave’s address was near the court house so we reached out for a consultation. My wife, son and I met with Dave about my son’s case. He treated our son as an adult. Dave was there to represent him but also to help him make good life choices. Dave made it clear that he would take care of him. The frustrating thing about the case was how long the case took…. To no fault of Dave, my son’s case was linked to a bigger case and our court appearances where very strung out to keep up with the other case. Dave made it clear that this was going to take some time, but he would keep up us up to date with every step in the case. During this time, we were never feeling in the dark. Dave kept us up to date, and would respond to us that day or the next. We were never kept waiting wondering “why didn’t you come back to us”. From the time when we first went to court it was very clear that Dave knew everyone in court and they knew and respected him. That included the judges, prosecutors, and even the court clerks. Each time Dave proposed something to the prosecutors they agreed. There is much comfort in knowing that Dave knows how the system works, and that he would get it sorted out. In my son’s case Dave got the charges expunged. There was even a time when my son could not complete his community service due to an accident, and Dave sorted that out with the court so it would have no repercussions. I also wanted to note that Dave was really considerate about the funding of the case. There is no doubt that Dave put in more time than what was covered by the retainer fee, but never charged us for it.

After removing initial counsel on a first degree theft charge, I called Mr Benowitz on Friday night , after hours. We spoke of the case briefly, then was asked to come to his office on a Saturday. HUH Lawyers and Saturdays crazy but true. David had me comfortable and reassured from the very first seconds in his office. After facing a first degree theft charge that in DC carries multiple years in the can, he met with prosecutors, filed motions, and advised me which way we we would obtain the end result and that was staying out of jail. HE DID THAT!!! There is something about a calm lawyer, a professional from start to finish that leaves you able to sleep at night knowing hes on it and on YOUR TEAM. With the experience, knowledge, and kind demeanor, he and his firm conducts business , you would be making a huge mistake to not have David Benowitz as your counsel if your freedom matters to you, I highly recommend David Benowitz for ALL your legal needs, criminal, and civil alike the entire firm is top notch and will be my counsel should anything arise in the future. I was facing a DUI in DC and I wanted to hire a very good attorney to help me fight this. My friend recommended David Benowitz, and he said that Dave is the "best" in DC. I am a lawyer myself, so I knew what a solid attorney looked like. I did consult with other attorneys as well, but after 10 minutes of speaking to Dave, I knew he was the guy I could trust. We fought the case for about a year, and I got an amazing deal thanks to Dave. I only got 3 months unsupervised probation, and paid a $100.00 fine. Dave was able to advocate on my behalf, and really saved me. It would have been significantly worse without him. He did an amazing job.
