Nick Parent came highly recommended to us by numerous coworkers who had recently worked with him through their home purchases. We came to him with almost no knowledge of how mortgages work and basically no homeowner experience as this was going to be our first purchase. Nick was not only patient throughout the process, he also proved to be a wealth of knowledge, which helped us immensely. Our first meeting with Nick lasted over 2 hours in which he patiently went over all of our different loan options. This was time he could have been spending at home with his family but he instead generously spent it with us to make sure we understood the information in front of us. He helped us choose loan options that best suited our financial situation and also took the time to carefully explain all of the details of what we could expect going forward. At NO point did we feel he had his own interests in mind over ours. He was there every step of the way through our first home purchase and we could not be more pleased with his service. Easy from start to finish! Working with Nick was undoubtedly the best choice we made when buying our first home. We purchased our home For Sale By Owner, without a real estate agent ourselves, and thought we were in for a stressful experience. Nick was a lifesaver! When came time to buying a house in Vermont I considered three possible lenders, Quickens, JP Morgan Chase, and Vermont Mortgage Company. Quickens was very aggressive at trying to lock me in but I wanted to hear from the other two. JP Morgan Chase was my bank in California and they truly did not seem to understand the lending process here in Vermont. Then I connected with Nick Parent at Vermont Mortgage Company. Wow not only did I understood that having a local lender was going to simplify my life but Nick was able to give me a better rate than the other two lenders. Nick was great to work with right from the start. I am a military member who just started an active duty tour in Vermont. I wanted to purchase a home here through the VA but I already own home (where I was previously stationed) that was purchased with a VA loan. While it is possible to have two VA loans out at once, I could not find a lender that was willing to work me (even Quicken Loans) simply because they were unfamiliar with the process. After several months of frustration, I called Nick and he was able to get me pre-approved in the same day. From there it was a smooth process straight through the closing. Long story short excellent around the clock service, pricing and rates right in line with NEFCU. The drastic variance speed and quality of service and advice! During a very short and hot market where good properties move the same day they are listed, you need a strong team behind you. Nick and his team DELIVER! We closed in 3 weeks from the time the offer was accepted to the time we got our house keys. Got an unbelievable 30yr fixed rate and ended up paying less then NEFCU.
