I am pretty sure Better Business Bureau is not a godsend :), but a great human creation. In this times where almost everything is happening through the Internet, all of us need an arbiter to grant trust in businesses so a trustful relationship between consumers and businesses can be developed. And this is neither a kind of miracle, this is an organization created through effort… an effort to help us, customers and businesses, to grow up together as harmonically and straightforwardly as possible. I am not talking about honesty, I am talking about a negotiation means both parts are benefited. And that is exactly what BBB is for me: an affective arbiter. It happened that I had an issue with Prosper Inc. An issue about $2500 USD. If had not been by BBB, I simply think those $2500 of mine were been gone by now. The provider took long time to answer and at the beginning they rejected it and all that, but finally, because of BBB’s intervention, they gave my money back. Just before having opted for BBB, I just simply felt lost. They helped me all the way up to the satisfactory resolution of my complaint. I live in Canada and that didn’t matter. The communication was transparent and efficient. I am sure they haven’t been able to solve every complaint, but have gotten the majority… Yes, they just reacted. But that’s precisely the point here. BBB can help you to make a business react to your dissatisfaction. So, assiduous Internet users, absolutely every time you have a worthy and real problem with any kind of business please get helped by BBB. They will be anxious to help you… this was a worthy experience!

Beautiful Skin P.O. Box 26008 Salt Lake City, Utah 84126 On Tuesday, September 6, 2016 I attempted to place an order for a free trial of a skin cream this company had advertised. I found the website to be extremely difficult to navigate, in that customers apparently had to decline each product before it would advance to the next page. When I realized the problem, I was not able to back up and change the order. I ended up with three products, at a total of $35.95 which was immediately billed to my card. On Wednesday, September 7, I called to explain the problem, and ask that the order be cancelled. I was informed that it was too late to cancel the order because it had already been shipped, and that I should call back when I received the product. I then received an email from the company stating that the product had been shipped on September 8. I received the product today, and the company will only refund the product price, not the shipping, and that I had to pay the return shipping, in spite of the fact that I had cancelled the order BEFORE it was shipped. I was told by the customer service supervisor, Shaniqua, that if I did not in fact return the product within two weeks, I would then be billed for the two "free trial" items for the amount of $89.99 each. How can I possibly be filled $180 for something that was advertised as free? To me, this is not customer service. This is unfair and deceptive business practices, and the consumer has no recourse whatsoever. Save yourself some trouble and steer clear of this company.

I live in Western Australia and was advised by our Department of Fair Trading to contact the Better Business Bureau of Utah with a problem I was experiencing to getting an on-line company to reply. I had purchased some vitamin/weight loss tablets on-line from a company headquartered in Salt Lake City on a 3 month trial basis. The product was supposed to kick start your metabolism and thus promote weight loss whic by the way, does not work. I continued to receive the product well after the three months (at AUD 78.00 per month) and despite numerous emails to the online company did not get any response. I submitted my complaint through the BBB of Utah who dealt with it promptly and professionally - I knew every step of the way where my complaint was. The on-line company stopped sending their product and billing me immediately. I did not have to resort to cancelling my credit card which would have been my next step! It is extremely gratifying to deal with such a professional and efficient organisation - I recommend that if any of you have any problems you contact BBB immediately. Many thanks once again.

I was having an issue with storagecraft which makes shadow protect, a computer backup/disk imaging software. The company told me that my license was valid, but they would no longer allow it to be authorized on ANY computer, making the software unusable. At that time, I asked for a refund of the money paid for the product and was told that the EULA does not allow refunds, and the company further stated that they would no longer respond to my emails. I went to the BBB of Utah and within two days i received an email from the company stating that they were issuing a full refund plus a refund on any money spent on upgrades when a new version was released. I was just amazed! I live in NY state and they helped me track the company down and get me my money back, fabulous!! I cannot recommend the BBB of Utah enough!!

I ordered Levela online--it was supposed to be a free trial. They ask you to try it for 6 weeks, but in small print at the bottom, which I did not see, they tell you that you must cancel within 10 days or they will charge your credit card $200 for the product. I also though I put this on a different credit card. When I realized what was happening, I contacted Levela to cancel, sent all the product I had back to them, and contacted my credit card company. Levela contacted me and tried to convince me to drop the dispute, saying I would get nothing unless I did. I knew that was a bluff. However, I only got a partial refund with my credit card dispute. So I decided to file a complaint with the BBB. That got me the rest of my money. Thank you BBB!!!!!

I prepaid for a year of software service but it immediately became obvious that the service was not going to meet the needs we had outlined. After only a couple of weeks I contacted the vendor to cancel the service but they refused any portion of refund, even though our use of the service to that point could not have cost much. After several more attempts over a period of weeks I finally turned to the local Better Business Bureau for help. Within just a few days we received a refund check for the exact amount I had been previously seeking. It is disappointing that some businesses are not more responsive to their customers needs, but nice to know that the Better Business Bureau can be so effective at helping to achieve reasonable results.

Intellibed store, on Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Bought an Intellibed in Salt Lake City on Highland Dr. I am very happy with the bed but have another issue. Part of my purchase was buying a seat cushion and receiving another one for free. That was in October, it is now June, and I still do not have the cushion. I just talked with the "former" but still involved owner, who refused to honor my order. The salesperson must not have put the "second cushion" on the receipt. So, word to the wise, for ANY purchase....CONFIRM the salesperson has put EVERYTHING discussed, any promotional items offered, etc. on the bill. IT HAS TO BE IN WRITING! In this day and age, there is NO such thing as a word of honor nor respect for the customer.

There is a company that powdered eggs online. I had ordered the product and my card was charged within two days but the product never came. Over a three week period i call them every other day and could never get anyone on the phone. I e-mailed over and over again still no response. After contacting the BBB, they contacted the owner and the problem was resolved within one week. The owner called me directly and said he was sorry for the problem and took care of the situation. Thanks BBB for a job well done. I would recomend the BBB to any one having a problem. Mark Flippo

I recently had new windows installed by Alpine Exteriors. I had 20 year old double pane windows that were not cutting it anymore. Hiram came to my house, and explained the features of the different windows he has available. I purchased Simonton triple pane windows for the price of double pane windows from the competition. The installers were at my house at the scheduled time. They were very professional, and did a wonderful job with the install. Hiram supplied the paperwork needed for the energy rebates, and I could not be happier with the Simonton windows, and the install. I would highly recommend Alpine Exteriors. ds/Murray

RJ Painting. I am a board member of a condo HOA and had Painter Bros bid a brick repair and sealing of the exterior of our building. When Randy McElhaney and his son called with their bid, the first question Randy asked was if I was getting other bids. He was disappointed when I told him we had one bid already and would get three bids. He was not happy about competition and then gave me a bid of 4 times the bid I already had. I thought he was joking, but he was serious. When I said I thought his bid was out of line, he got very upset and started calling me names and hung up.

I had purchased an elliptical and the warranty with the product. 2 weeks after getting it, It was not working properly. For the next 4months I went back and forth with the retailer. They continued to send a vendor to "fix" the problem. (every 2 weeks a vendor would be back) - They would not let me return the machine (even with receipt and being told that is what the warranty was for). I turned to the BBB to assist - they were amazing! The situation was resolved. I would highly recommend them to anyone having an issue with a retailer or service provider.

After an unpleasant experience with a local company, I went online and complained to the BBB. I was very happy to see that within days they responded to my complaint and within the week I received a credit on my card for the expense I incurred with this company. I did not expect such a quick turnover and am very happy I turned to the BBB to help rememdy this issue. I recommend anyone having problems with any business to let the BBB handle it. What is more important, thanks to the quick response of the BBB I got my money back! THANK YOU BBB.

In my industry there is a company in Salt Lake City that takes advantage of their customers, has poor quality, does not comply with commitments, threatens their customers and has very poor Google reviews. This company currently has an A+ rating which is VERY deceiving and UN-helpful to consumers. I no longer see the need for BBB as Google reviews are more used and more detailed. Not only do Google reviews post negative reviews, but also positive. I hate to say it, but BBB is becoming obsolete as did yellow pages.

I experienced difficulty in getting warranty work accomplished by UTS and Iconic Repair. My main problem was getting an experienced technician from Iconic Repair to accomplish the work. I turned to the BBB and within a few days had UTS contacting me to resolve the problem. I ended up with a new piece of exercise equipment that I believe I would not have received without the help of the BBB. Although all my interaction was done through emails with the BBB, they acted promptly and efficiently to resolve this issue.

Was not able to communicate effectively with a company I was having a dispute with, and was nowhere near reaching any kind of settlement. Once I contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB), things started moving, and I received a full refund from the company. That would not have happened if not for the very capable assistance from BBB. Thank you so much BBB for your persistence in seeing the solution to my problem to fruition. Will be happy to contact you again in the future, should the need again arise.

The BBB was instrumental in my getting closure with a company. The company would not return my calls or texts. I then started to receive emails from several companies only to find out that the financial part of the business was taken over by another company. Needless to say it was a mess. We managed to get things settled. Without the BBB it would not have gotten done. Beware of internet companies that farm out all parts of their operation. I had no idea that a company would do this.
