I was purchasing a home through Flagship homes in Vineyard Utah. We were immediately unimpressed with our loan officer as she took very little effort in explaining things to us and insisted we sign away our right to see our appraisal before closing. When we pressed her on it she said that was the way it needed to be done so they could get it taken care of quickly, even though we were more than a month away from closing. We refused to sign it at that point and asked another loan officer about it within Academy who told us there was no reason for us to wave our rights to see our appraisal before closing and that we should not sign as our loan officer suggested. We asked the branch manager to transfer us to another loan officer and were told that the one we were working with was the only one approved to work with Flagship customers. We were told to contact him again if things continued not to work out Once closing came our final estimate was several hundred higher than the original estimate we received. The price difference was not a big concern for us but we did want clarification as to why when I asked for written clarification of the reason for the differences our loan officer responded with a single line email stating the amount she projected we needed at closing making no effort to answer our questions insisting we call her for more clarification. We called her and she claimed that she had attached a response in her email but there was no attachment nor was their any mention of an attachment in the email. I forwarded the chain to the manager requesting again we be transferred to another loan officer with no response. By this time we were very unsettled with using Academy as we felt they could not be trusted and were not willing to proceed with the loan process loosing our house our $3000 down payment and loosing $550 we had already paid for the appraisal in the process. If you decide to work with Academy and are buying from Flagship beware that you are NOT their client, they work for Flagship and Flagship only!

I sent a full page email to Stephanie that was basically a rant on how poor my experience with other mortgage companies had been. I laid out my expectations. Great communication, a timely turn around and no surprises. Just straight talk and facts. If I were her I probably would have thought twice about responding to an email like that. She responded that same evening (after business hours) with an invitation to work with them and a promise to follow through with all my requests. Short version was they blew me away with their service, there quick turn around on everything required to close the refinance. Best of all there were no surprises at closing. Everything was exactly as it was explained to me. Stephanie, Matt, and their team were are the best. You would be hard pressed to find a better mortgage company

You guys were great. We had issues with a lender our realtor referred us to, the agent we were working with left on vacation and left our loan with an associate who knew nothing about the loan, we were pretty much going to have to start over. We got in touch with Casey at Academy. Even though he also went on vacation it was a smooth handover to Layton, they we quick with getting back with answers to our questions. It was a great experience.
