Another 5 Stars for Kia at the 60 Park Place Newark location. I first applied a year ago after being laid off from my job. I was turned down because my unemployment benefits were more than the amount to be admitted into the program. I re-applied this December by phone since I have not found work and needed health benefits. I asked the person on the phone what I should do to be proactive while my application was being processed, I was told to look over the plans on the NJ Family Care website to learn more about the program. I was then told that I would receive documents in the mail. The normal processing time is supposed to be 30-45 days.After reading many horrible reviews, I decided to call in to check on the application. I can`t say I was shocked when I found out the new application was not even in the system. The only 5 star Google review for the NJ Family Care agency mentioned a worker at the Newark location named Kia. I went in person to the Newark location and was lucky enough to have Kia take care of my application. She was very Caring & Efficient. I was in and out in under 10 minutes and finally felt that everything is going to be OK. As far as I`m concerned Kia should be in charge of the entire program !!!

Never really had a problem with nj family care. But I think its so much better to go in person to apply and hand in all your paper work. I filled out an application online I waited for way more than the 30-45 day waiting period. I finally decided to call and they did not have it in the system, luckily I kept the confirmation number and they put my application in the system. I kept calling every week to make sure. I called this week and they said they sent my approval letter out. This whole process took almost 5 months and i filled out an application 3 weeks before my insurance expired. Luckily i didnt need to go to the doctors right away, i would of been highly upset and this review would of been a 1 star. Usually I always go in person its better. (Dont forget to keep track of when its time to renew so it wont be any confusion)

Simply put the WORST customer service EVER! I have never come across so many incompetent and rude people in my life. Its not even FREE! It makes you feel terrible that you are not even making that much that you "qualify" for state funded health insurance that is not even that cheap to begin with. Every month the premiums do add up and on top of it mine was on review so they can refund me and they kept messing up, no one could ever fix the original problem to the point I honestly gave up hope and gave up on this whole system. Needless to say they kept my over paid money and I can not begin to express my frustration with this whole whatever they are. I simply HATE them. Ignorant, incompetent Bafoons work here who like to hang up on those that need health insurance for their children.

Awful. My 45 days of waiting came & went with no response. I called, spoke with a so called rep, who by mistake while talking to me pressed delete on my file. Like an immoral geek, he said sorry, I must ask of you to reapply, due to no fault of your own. He said he would mark it as speed application. It is now 44 days later, after reapplication and still no response!! As for the amount of stars, the number is NEGATIVE 45 + NEGATIVE 44

Worst run Gov Program that I have had the displeasure to have to deal with. They dont seem to be able to do their job. 3 times over months I have had too call and wait on hold for them to send me important information. They keep saying they have sent it but it never arrives and no one can help me. I have gone to my state legislator and the head of health and human services to no resolution yet.

Called several times, was on hold for over 40 mins got disconnected. One woman I spoke with had a nasty attitude and hung up phone did not help me at all. Not how you treat someone especially when they are pregnant... They really need to hire people who know what they are doing instead of having people in a run around.

Tamara Brown was my case manager. She is the Rudest, most incompetent person I have ever come across. She made things so difficult for me, on several occasions she even mocked me and laughed at my misfortunes. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with her. She should be fired

if they do not respond in a certain period of time, send a certified mail, keep the receipt, and if they refuse to contact you then, well, the state is officially neglecting you and puts them as liable people. USE CERTIFIED MAIL AND MAKE COPIES AND KEEP EVERY CORRESPONDENCE.

horrible customer service everytime I call... Agents give incorrect information and when you call back you get diff info. Terrible i blame the training!!!!!!! Not to mention it takes forever to get a live agent because your calls are constantly disconnected.

Their phone system is crappy, I requested to speak with an actual person and was dis-connected due to it not being a valid phone number at least ten times before success. Alexis, the technical help, was very nice and she terminated my policy immediately.

I had need to contact them due to incompetence; however, the incompetence was primarily on the part of the HMO, rather than them. They get a 3 (they could have done a better job avoiding the problem in the first place); the HMOs get a -5.
