Our teenage daughter was seriously injured in a cycling accident on the west coast at the end of July 2015, eventually requiring air med-evac to a major hospital, surgery, 4d ICU stay, an additional 3d in the hospital, and another week in the area before we could fly home. TripMate was absolutely fantastic in covering everything they had promised in the policy. Our own medical insurance is quite good, but they covered everything (deductibles, copays, etc) that were our responsibility after insurance. They reimbursed us for the remaining part of her trip that she could not complete because of her accident. They covered our non-medical expenses until we could return home, including rental car. Moreover, they covered first class return flights (cross-country) for our daughter and one parent, because she was unable to sit up for more than an hour or so and therefore needed a lie flat seat. They even offered to cover a third seat for a nurse to accompany us, but we declined. We could not have been happier with their assistance or more relieved by how they handled everything and helped us under such trying conditions.

I purchased this insurance for a trip to the UK in May/June 2017. During the trip I had a dental emergency so I filed a claim when I got home. Two months later they denied the claim because they said that a crown is "not a natural tooth". Any dentist or dental insurance company would disagree, since a crown sits on top of a...natural tooth! That is a lame, sneaky way to get out of paying a relatively small claim. The representative actually said the words "..then we have to send it over to our Denial Department". So you actually have a department whose job it is to deny claims??? Shame on them. Will never deal with them again.

Purchased a ticket for my granddaughter to go to see her fiance in US Army. He had new orders, was deployed, so she cancelled the ticket weeks in advance. TripMate denied my claim for ticket price although Item 11 on the policy covers just such an event. The whole purpose of trip insurance is to recoup money in the case of something unexpected. The airline resold the seat, I had paid TripMate the cost of insurance so the only loser was me! I was not able to speak to anyone to dispute my claim denial. It is just a terrible company and waste of money to purchase insurance for a claim that will not be honored.

TravelMate Travel insurance is a scam and a joke.I had bought a international ticket with Cheapoair and bought this insurance just to cover myself.Because of an illness of a family member I cancelled the ticket and had to leave a month earlier.I filed for a claim with a letter from a local doctor and sent them documentation from the doctor abroad what was possible .The insurence is making any kind of excuses not to pay..The claim was only for one fourth the total cost yet they refused to reimburse me. DO NOT BUY ANY INSURANCE FROM THESE PEOPLE.YOU WILL ONLY BE WASTING YOUR MONEY.

5 months and still nothing for our honeymoon refund due to a hurricane. Worse experience EVER!!!! So sad. Do NOT use them. Huge run around and empty promises. All we want is our money back so we can go on a honeymoon! We were told multiple times we would get it "soon." 5 months is too long and still nothing!!!!! Use Caution!!!!! Just as a FYI ... Most credit card companies have a benefits department to reimburse for travel issues that is much better than Trip Mate. If you do not have insurance, your credit card will issue full refund with invoice. Call your credit cars company!

My sister and I had planned a trip to the Philippines to visit our parents overseas. Three months before the trip, we heard that our parents had to return back to the United States for a few months for emergency medical reasons and therefore, would not be there when the time came for us to make our trip. My dad called TripMate asking if this would be a covered claim if they had to cancel our tickets to which they replied, "Yes, that would absolutely be covered". However, now five months later, they are still refusing to cover our claims.

So my wife and I were headed to Ireland for Christmas last year and she was admired into the hospital. I canceled our trip over a month in advance and even with the top off travel protection plan I bought still had to send in her medical transcripts and then just found out moments ago they denied our claim . It took them months after I sent them the documents. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TRAVEL EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!! IF I could give negative star rating you "tripmate " would be -10.

I would give this horrific travel insurance company 0 stars if that were possible! They lie to you, string you along, do not process your claim (after having complete documentation for three weeks!) All you receive for having paid for this travel insurance are endless headaches and the complete runaround! Please never use this travel insurance, for your own good. I believe in travel insurance, but NEVER AGAIN WITH TRIPMATE!!!

I used Trip Mate Ins for a November trip. Got sick, filed a claim, By March wondering when check would come. Called and talked to reps. 2nd check issued by Trip Mate in April, it was received by me and cashed. Today, 5/1/2017, the check Trip mate issued on 1/18/17 arrived via USPS. It took 4 months for the post office to forward it to my winter address. Trip Mate did everything right! Phyllis Edwards

I wish I could give them no stars. Worst service I have ever received from a travel insurance company. They have not answered any emails and when i call i stay on hold for hours. They should have covered over $500 in costs and they sent a check for $40 and $12 after I told them not to sent the checks because I wanted to file a new claim. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

I personally had very great experience with Trip Mate Inc. I had to cancel the trip that I booked for my parents due to an unavoidable reason. I submitted the claim with required documents and it was approved within a week, and I received the reimbursement within 2 weeks of submitting the claim, sooner than I expected. I would definitely recommend Trip Mate Inc.!!!

I have tried calling them I counted 10 times since last week, no answer just automatic saying you can choose to call back. I checked my claims on their website and no progress since 7 days ago other than labels have been made. I tried faxing them since last week and the fax number just kept ringing and one time it says the fax is not turned on. WORST!
