If youre a fan of over smoked BBQ that will keep you up late at night with food poisining than this is the place for you!! My fiancé and I went to union station for dinner last night stupidly thinking it was the same as Union Woodshop in Clarkston, which by the way is incredible. We ordered the pulled pork nachos, which were basically inedible, and the Switchman, which featured a little slab of ribs, some pork and beef brisket. Everything was so overdone it had absolutely no texture. Now I like a good falling off the bone rib but this was wayyyy over board. The pork was so dry and bland we barely touched it and the brisket was 85% fat. Needless to say we were pretty disappointed with our meal that night. But it got worse, much worse. Later that night my fiancé and I, at different times of the night, got up horrendously sick with food poisining. I never ever write reviews but this was so bad I felt i had to try to stop others from having the same experience we did.

This station and museum is a rare gem. I stopped by with my family to see Durand Union Station and had absolutely no idea how fantastic a history this place has. We were impressed by the grandeur of the building and fascinated by the rich and busy history of the building. We will definitely return when we have more time. Anyone with even the slightest penchant for history will enjoy the time spent here. As a bonus, this station still has trains frequently running past it for the kids to see up close, both East/West and North/South, and it also serves as an active and incredibly majestic Amtrak station.

This is a great place to visit. Especially if you are a railroad fan. Museum is free to tour. If you come on Saturdays be sure to visit the large model railroad club which is open from 11:00AM-4:00PM and located at the station. Rail traffic varies but on average 3-10 trains pass by during normal hours. Railroads include Canadian National, Great Lakes Central & Huron & Eastern. Several decent places to eat in downtown Durand which is just across from the tracks. Station is also decorated and lit during the Christmas season. A must if you have kids or like to tour historic places.
