As the two other reviews stated, my closing (mine was with the Columbia office of Lakeside Title) went fairly smoothly. There was an error in the paperwork which I was told would be researched and taken care of and even with a new closing agent stepping in last minute (as mine was not available), the transaction appeared to go off with cookies and coffee and without a hitch. After closing however, an issue arose, based on a error in the deed/title/transfer and based on mis-information I was given at closing. My experience with Lakeside while trying to get this issue resolved was horrible. Despite working with several agents at Lakeside, two of their attorneys at the time and the company manager, it took from my closing in 2011 until this past month for this to be resolved. Since I could not get the help I was hoping for from Lakeside, I personally spent a significant amount of time researching the issue on my own, advocating for myself and working on resolving the issue with outside resources. These included consulting with agents and an attorney at another Title company with a third party. I was told by the other company that this was a very abnormal issue but that in their opinion Lakeside did drop the ball in helping me get this resolved in an efficient manner. They also noted that they would have likely resolved the issue without further charges to me (which Lakeside did not). I will say that the attorney with Lakeside, who was assigned earlier this year (Christine Sadler) to help me finish things was both very communicative, great at follow up and overall helpful. Otherwise, my opinion of the customer service at Lakeside, as well as their overall concern for their customer is extremely low and I was overall very disappointed..

The Orange Team at Lakeside Title share roles to get the Sale to close. Unfortunately I did not know who was in charge or what the status of the closing was. I filled out the requested paperwork to then hope we were okay. It felt more like a large operation where a transaction was just 1 of many to where people multi tasked to get them all finished. I suppose it was a good closing once I determined where it was held, but it was a little nerve wrecking with the last minute completion of things. Although in there defense the other agent I worked for dropped the ball in the 9th hour and almost cost BOTH clients the deal! So it was a difficult conclusion with that agents mistakes. I just wish there was more communication of who did what role rather than just calling it a Orange Team so that I knew who to contact or who to expect information from. I did not want to be stressed to the wrong person who did not know anything about it. But the large search results for the company as a whole made it difficult to know who was working on the deal, where. At least this was a good learning experience of how important it is to provide a outline of information up front as well as meet the time frames with communication of what was accomplished and what was next. Especially if your business is booming and everyone wants to close with you!

Lakeside does a good job, however so do most title companies. With that said Chris Baker goes above and beyond anything that I have ever seen from a settlement officer. He has met my clients at almost any hour, wherever they need to be. Home, office Starbucks... he just makes it work. If I were reviewing Chris Bakers service, there would be 5 stars. Call lakeside and ask for Chris.

Appointment was started on-time and completed early. Staff is friendly and has complimentary coffee and cookies. First appointment there the agent told me I could not get scanned copies of the documents (paper copies only). A different agent at a separate appointment sent me scanned copies within minutes of me asking.
