I started looking at them and 4 other companies. The reviews of these guys made me nervous, but ultimately they had the best deal, but it was reasonable compared to the others. So, I moved forward with them. After a few weeks it was clear they were slow and so I had also continued to, at a slower pace move along with another lender as well. When they did my appraisal the house came back at a very good number, so I expected to close quickly and easily. I contacted the other company and told them I was going to go with CDM. We then ran into "problems." The appraiser had put a provision on the appraisal that we needed to finish the install of 4 doors in the basement for the appraisal to be complete. I had told him when he was here that I had not timetable when they would be completed, and so if he had to weigh that in either way I understood. He said nothing to me, about anything being pending anything. Gave no indication on my copy of the appraisal that any of this was an issue, nothing. I have bought numerous houses, refinanced numerous times, and almost always with ongoing work taking place on the home. I have never once had an appraiser give an appraisal with a contingency without first going over that with me. I was then told for it to be amended I would need to pay an additional fee to have the appraiser come back and re-check. Again, all of this happened 2 weeks after the appraisal when we should have been closing the loan. I have since had 2 other appraisals as I have had to go back to other companies and start the process over, neither appraiser has ever heard of such a thing, and both have also stated that those doors make so little difference to the overall value that it makes no sense to worry about them at all. Irregardless though, my biggest issue is that there was zero communication at the time or in the intervening 10 days to inform me of the issue/potential snag, and then there was an attempt to extract more money from me. It felt like it was almost a shakedown (not saying it was, just how I felt). I would not use this loan company, they will waste 2 months of your time, and then you will end up being out almost 500$ and being either denied or asked to pay extra money to get approved. I have now moved on and will complete the refi soon with another company. Save your money and go with someone else who will not waste your time and money.

Tale of 2 experiences. I originated my mortgage in late 2016 and everything went smoothly. I received a very competitive rate and the service was good. Even my local title company was impressed. Then over 2 months later, AFTER FirstBank had sold my mortgage, I received a noticed that both my wife and I had experienced a hard check on our credit. The hard check lowered both our scores by 20-30 points. After doing some research, I learned that FirstBank had facilitated the hard check without our knowledge or approval. I called FirstBank and learned that to resolve this issue, I had to fax them to request a "Letter of Deletion" to get them to remove the inquiry and fix their mistake. I begrudgingly did so. About 2 weeks later I received a letter from FirstBank telling me that to process the removal, I had to send them A COPY OF MY CREDIT REPORT. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and called to speak to a supervisor. That person was no help and even though he promised to call me back, he never did. There was no way I was going to send them a copy of my own credit report, which they erroneously (illegally?) ran themselves so I could prove my own innocence. I finally called Credco, the 3rd party with whom FirstBank contracted to run my credit. Their helpful agent promised to submit a "Permissible Purpose Audit" on the inquiry. Within 10 days, the credit inquiries had been removed. In summary, my initial experience was a positive one. However, thanks to a problem 100% of their own making, my overall experience ended with me being incredibly frustrated.

Very good rates, but inconsistent service - some people were courteous/responsive/helpful, while others were dismissive and inattentive to details (or perhaps intentionally misleading?). We stated on several occasions both by phone and email that we did not want to include any closing costs into the new loan, but the penultimate closing disclosure still had some of the prepaid and escrow amounts being covered by the new loan, even though we had said we would pay these directly at the closing. Also, we did not receive confirmation of the closing time from the notary service until the morning of the closing date. I would still like to thank Dale Cross - she was always extremely quick to respond, and helped to clear up our concerns with the disclosure. But not sure I would use Consumer Direct again. Hopefully some of the complaints on Yelp about their performance servicing the loan after closing are not true.

We had submitted a request on a refinancing website. One senior Mortgage banker from Consumer Direct Mortgage, Mr. Alton Johnson sent an email on feb 14th after collecting our preliminary data that his quote is 2.75% for 15 years Fixed interest rate. After , collecting all confidential information and running credit check, this SENIOR broker says it was typo and he meant 3.25%. When will the businesses learn to stand behind their quotes and written promises from there SENIOR Brokers who callously take the consumers. Stay Away from this company and help yourself.

After a bad experience with my bank last go-around, I tried the online thing and went with CDM thanks to the great rate and little fees. Erik, the originator, was always on top of it, kept up constant communication with me, and never went dark. Working through with the underwriters was a piece of cake too, everything was e-signed up until closing time and we locked/funded the transaction within the same month. No surprises, and one very happy customer! Will recommend to friends!

I just closed a house, which Consumer direct mortgage was the broker to close. I will give them a 10 out of 10. Very satisfied with their service and helping me through every step of the process. I would like to mention a few names - David E. Matalon , Dale Cross. You folks are amazing! People who are reading this, please have all the mortgage related paperwork organized and contact David, it will be a breeze. -Shamsul C. Phoenix , AZ

Received a terrific rate through Consumer Direct Mortgage, and closed today, 5/22/17. Senior Mortgage Banker Josh Reynolds did a superb job shepherding the application through the data gathering and review process. I was impressed by the speed with which they got back to me and their attention to detail. And the online data gathering and secure-fax submittal process were easy and fast.

I had a great experience with Consumer Direct, the process was easy and quick; we closed within a month. I originally was going through Quicken Loans and that was easy and fast, but I started to have doubts about them when I saw the fees on the mortgage disclosure. I saved about $6,000 in origination fees and ended up with a better APR paying no points with Consumer Direct.

Carlos Tavel and Justin Giles did a marvelous job making sure we felt assured, understood the process and worked diligently with each department of his office to provide a smooth loan experience. They patiently and knowledgeably worked with us through the whole process, were available whenever needed and closed on time and with a very tight timeline. Five Stars Experience!

Three calls and two emails sent over 3 weeks regarding any further action needed on our part. Found out today that the appraisal was never ordered and ZERO effort made to ensure we would be able to close as scheduled. Cancelled today and went with another lender. This was extremely frustrating!

Working with Erik from Consumer Direct was a great experience. He was very responsive and even answered my questions outside of work hours. They had the best rates out there and the fees were much less than I expected. Their website for uploading and e-signing made the process very quick and easy.
