Long story as short as possible. Opened a checking account online. Went to the closest branch to my house to fund the account a couple days later. During that time I opened a savings account and a Now Card account for use until my permanent bank card arrived. Placed money in all three accounts. The following afternoon, I received a call from the "Back office Dept" saying they needed a utility bill or something with my name and address on it. They asked me to take it to the branch. I made a mental note to take the form to the branch the next day after getting my car serviced. Unfortunately for me, Regions decided to block all accounts, which caused me to be unable to pay the dealership to get my car back. I even had the dealership fax a renters insurance bill with my name and current address on it to try to remedy the situation since I was unable to physically go to the branch. The "back office dept" refused to accept the document. After hours of back and forth with the branch, I had to have someone pick me up from the dealership. 30 minutes later after calling the branch back multiple times just to get an update on the issue, I was told that they will only accept my lease, but that this back office dept is closed on the weekends and I would not be able to access my money until the following Monday. I explained several times that I had to travel this weekend and that I would rather just close all the accts and get my money from the branch. I was then told that they would not even allow me to close the acct. Not one single person made an effort to help me or empathize with my situation. Regions would rather allow their to customers have no money and no transportation for 3 days, than do something about THEIR lack of communication and understanding. I will do my best to make sure everyone hears about this nightmare they have caused.
