I had Select Health in 2014 and found that they had been purchased by a company traded over the NY Stock Exchange. My coverage totally changed and if I had not check all of my meds for my COPD would not have been covered. I changed my coverage and spoke to some knowledgeable people in the insurance business and was informed not to sign with a company that has stock holders. If the stock is down they change the coverage so they meet the stockholders demands. This is totally wrong when it comes to its clients. We are the ones who get taken advantage of. So far I have only found 3 or 4 companies that do not have affiliation with stockholders and are member owned.
Terrible insurance provider for anyone in need of mental health services. Company has a short list that excludes the most effective treatment centers, and most referred therapists in state. In addition the company is very likely to force generic prescriptions onto you, before other more proven brands. This is coming from a family that pays for their most premium service. Absolutely disrespectful call staff, whose database is so flawed they could not tell you what prescriptions you have been using. I cannot stress my dislike for this company enough. Limits are the name of their game, and you will pay the premium for the privilege of the egregious limits they set.
I have been insured with many insurance companies, and I have found SelectHealth to be the most helpful when it comes to patient and doctor engagement and friendly and helpful customer services representatives. I love their MyHealth website. Having the ability to correspond with my provider, look up lab and imaging test results has helped become more educated and engaged in my medical decisions. I will do my best to always have SelectHealth insurance, whether it is through an employer sponsored plan or an individual plan.
A dear friend of mine has been fighting for three weeks to have procedure approved for her son that would save his functioning kidney. One kidney is at only 20% and the other was healthy at the beginning of this year but because Select Health was will not approve the surgery it is now at 40%. They are denying because this has never been done on a child but has been done successfully on adults. He is 15 and passed all pre-testing for the procedure. I guess they would rather pay for a transplant down the road. Despicable!
I have been insured with Selecthealth for 25 years and have been completely satisfied. Whenever I have had questions about coverage or finding a provider it has been so easy to pick up the phone and talk with a helpful and professional customer service representative. I love the My Health feature that is available and I use it quite often. I find it to be very user friendly, and is full of helpful information concerning health care. I hope to always have Selecthealth available to me because they are “simply there”.
I have been trying for quite some time now to get a quote on the costs of my upcoming surgery and have been very unsuccessful. Your team has done nothing but push me around to other areas, giving me excuses, and now as an end result i still have no clue if i can even afford this surgery because your team either was useless or does not have the tools or knowledge to accomplish what i am asking. Simple request.... i need to understand what costs i will accrue if i have this surgery done. Very unsatisfied...
Like others have said, 1 star is too many. I have been insured by many large insurers including Blue Cross, Aetna, etc. and I cannot believe how bad the customer service is with SelectHealth. I called to find an in-network provider for a very routine service and no one, after speaking with 3 people, at SelectHealth could find the correct service provider for me. I had to locate the provider myself. I am shocked at how little this company knows about medical services. I will be switching providers.
If I could give negative stars I would. I am a type 1 diabetic and this is the hardest insurance company I have ever had to deal with. They have denied me medically necessary equipment, charge me hundreds of dollars a month, and cover hardly any of the cost of supplies. I pay hundred of dollars on top of the cost of their premiums after they pay what their part. Now I have been put in a dangerous situation when my health can suffer more due to their decision.
SelectHealth continues to surprise me with their excellent customer service and claims payment accuracy. I just read that SelectHealth has ranked highest in member satisfaction for the 4th year in a row by JD Power and Associates. As a non-profit health plan, I see SelectHealth participating in many charity events and contributing to our community. I would not have an issue recommending SelectHealth to anyone.
My company just switched to SelectHealth. Must be cheap for them, because it is wretched for us as employees. The plan options either have out of this world high premiums for sub-standard coverage, or they have their CDHP which basically means you pay reasonable (not cheap, only reasonable) premiums, but they will not cover a dime of ANYTHING until you meet the $3500 deductible. Worst...Coverage...Ever.
Worst insurance ever you pay a huge amount every month however the doctors at IHC are horrible!! So good luck finding a doctor outside of IHC that takes this insurance. Even if you have the more expensive plan this has been a nightmare from day 1. The low star rating is very accurate for the quality of service you will receive from them!!! Not recommend in any way this company is a joke in itself!!
Zero Stars. This is a joke. Paying cash at time of ER services was less than what select health wants me to pay. On top of that I pay my monthly premium. Insurance now costs more than not having any. This is a racket between insurance and politicians. The total bill at the hospital was 1600$. Paying in cash at services would have been half that.
I thought $500 plus was a lot to pay for single person and then they sent a notice that it was going to increase to $800. A nice thing about aging is Medicare....I would have shopped around if not for luckily being eligible for Medicare the same month it was increasing by such a high percentage. And I rarely used my insurance.
GOD AWFUL for someone looking for an individual insurance plan. Got declined for a breast lump and for depression...two VERY common things that most people have today. They labeled me as "uninsurable" even though I could prove that the breast lump was benign... but still tried to get me to sign my husband up. Not likely!
My son has a disability...Through the marketplace, we across Select Health Bronze Plan...Best thing every...copays are low, paperwork is a breeze...he even has a nurse to visit him to administer his meds, if he cannot make to the hospital..friendly customer service, all around...a bit expense, but well worth.
Completely floored. SelectHealth has denied a critical surgery for a 15 year old boy. Completely stunned that you somehow feel you can allow this kid to remain sick and suffering, and allow his organs to fail...to save your bottom line. What is the point of your insurance??
Way to expensive. I feel there is no coverage. They have unrealistic standards for deductibles, and all that. When I had PEHP my deductible was only $500, and I only had to pay my copays. Select Health only cares about making money, not their clients.
They denied a kidney transplant for a sweet young man. REALLY why would anyone sign-up with them on open enrollment, I hope you never get sick cause you will be screwed, want to know about this young man, go to Rachal Nickols Facebook page.
I thought it was good, until I realized the only mental health doctors you can visit must be in the intermountain health care network. About 80% of the doctors have their degrees from Utah, so there is little choice in diversity.
I have had a great experience through many surgeries, ICU stays, broken bones and general care with my family. Have had to contact them on claims occasionally, but always seem interested in helping resolve the concern.
I love select med, they are always helpful and help when I have questions about coverage, billing or Dr referrell! I have a lot of medical issues and they are great to work with!
Absolutely awful company. Screwed me repeatedly. Terrible customer service reps who are trained to lie. I am now applying for a special enrollment period to switch to Blue Cross.
SelectHealth has been great for me and my wife. We have gone through ankle surgery and colon cancer with them and they paid the claims exactly as we expected.
Even after our deductible for pharmacy was met our insulin costs are still over $300 a month plus our insurance. Customer service was no help.
My premium is cheap thanks to Obamacare. My deductible is only $500. Once met my insurance pays for everything..doctor, prescriptions, etc.
They reversed a payment they made EIGHT months ago. Merry Christmas to us! What a nice surprise bill to get. Jerks.
I was with select health for 10 years, I never had one problem. I had to switch because of their prices.
I love Select Health - they process claims quickly & are easy to get ahold of with questions.
Impossible website to work, incredibly difficult to manage your own account.
Very appropriately named, as in "We Select which Health claims we pay for."
Great experience with SelectHealth - I like their dental.
Best insurance ever and their advocates save the day !
Outrageous payments and deductibles!
Horrible and bigoted company.
