I first met Richard Mayer in late 1990. Recently, I contacted him via LinkedIn (a social media site) and he messaged me and made time to meet with me that very day (a Friday, I might add) While I did not need his legal expertise now for a reorganization. Twenty three later he is still the same conscientious, professional that I remembered. The entire office staff is friendly. I am also convinced that Mr. Newton is of the same similar quality of character as Mr, Mayer. If you are in need of competent counsel with regard to debts and your own personal situation and want all your available options pursued and explained to you, the only firm that I would recommend is Mayer & Newton. Mayer & Newton will guide you through with a payment plan, a chapter 13 repayment plan, a chapter 7 filing, Mayer & Newton are the absolute best consumer bankruptcy and certified consumer counselors, in my opinion.

I went to the Morristown Office for a consultation. I was told initially that the cost to the Chapter 13 trustee was going to be $125. When I went to Knoxville to sign the papers, they had doubled my payment to over $250. I also received the distinct impression they were more worried about the creditors than me, their client. In addition, I told them my check was garnished 25%. My repayment to the court was going to be MORE than the garnishment. I asked if there was wiggle room and they said NO, that was what was required. A coworker of mine tried to use them and they were not helpful, at all. She used Mark Skelton in Rogersville and he was able to help her keep her car. I would NOT use them. They are very, very shady and NOT for you, but for the creditors. Caveat Emptor.

I waited almost 2 hours to be seen, during which time I skipped over by 3 other clients who arrived later than I did. The secretary gave me no indication as to when I would be seen, so I finally just got up and left. It took 3 hours travel time to get there, so they waisted half of my day. Thanks for nothing.
