Have been there twice and both were terrible experiences. March 2015- My first visit, an oil change (with an appointment) took approximately 2 hours. During that time waiting, I was not once spoken to with an update. When I asked what was taking so long, no one seemed to know. This is unacceptable. Since then, I take my car to JiffyLube. It is done well, I am treated with respect, and am very pleased with the short time it takes. Feb 2016- My second visit was to replace a relay in the horn, as well as read the check engine light. I had an appointment at 11am. I was told it would take time so I left. On Saturdays, they close at 4pm. They called me at 4:01pm to tell me that my car is ready. He says that they are closed, but will be around for a few more hours so I could come get my car. In trying to call them back, I continuously get re-routed to the main automated AAA menu, and am unable to reach their location in order to pay for, and get my car back. Obviously as they have my car, I have no means to get there in order to pick it up, unless I want to pay for a taxi. It is utterly ridiculous that it took them 5 hours to do this and that they call me back about my car only after they have closed. Now, a simple repair has my car locked in their location until Monday morning.

I received very poor service. In June 2011, I was encouraged and assured from AAA travel service could provide a peace of mind and excellent service. Several times, they were not able to deliver. I utilized their Foreign Exchanged services and to this day the foreign money I purchased for my trip has not arrived. Before leaving for my trip in July, I visited the center twice and I was told that I would receive a call from their office when the money arrived. I never received a called. In fact, there was a little concerned from one of the employee that the order was never placed. A day from leaving for my trip on July 3, I called and was told that I would receive a refund. I have NOT received the refund. It’s been close to a month now. I called and was expecting to hear from the regional manger and the manger never called. I was told by another an employer that the manager said that I will be receiving a refund check in the mail. I recieve a second phone call not from the manager, that the manger has figure out how to refund my account. I have been a AAA member for years, I have never had service so poorly as from the travel sales department on 3505 Westgate Drive in Durham, NC.

My son goes to college in this area. He called me the other day and told me he had broke down on the side of I40. He called AAA and they towed him to the closest AAA car care center. The next morning they had looked over his car to see what needed to be repaired. I called and they informed me that it would be 1100.00 to repair. I had an idea from experience what may be wrong with his vehicle and I felt like this was an extremely high estimate. I contacted my local mechanic and he felt the same way. I proceeded to have the vehicle towed back to where I live and to have my mechanic take a look. This was after I had to pay a 114.00 bill for diagnostic to AAA care center. I just had a gut feeling and went with that feeling. Well after 1.5 hrs labor and a part his vehicle was back on the road running fine. 1100 price quote from AAA car care ended up being 205.84 price to fix his vehicle. I guess you can do the math, but needless to say we will not be trusting any AAA car care center in the future.

I waited 3 hours for the road side assistance. Then was charged 700$ in repairs when they said they could have it done the very next day I agreed to the payment. Ended up taking a week for the repair, so I had an additional 300$ rental car fee since I am only 21 and a college student and the appropriate rental age is 25 I had to pay the underage fee. After approximately 1 month, the very sam thing happened to my car and I had a warranty so I went through AAA again to fix the sam repairs they said they had already fix. Found out that the parts were junk yard parts when I paid dealership price. A charlotte location took it into their hands to fix free of charge. A month later the exact same problem happened again and they told me I needed the engine replace, so they put 2 different engines in my car. Waiting to see if this will happen again!!! Not happy with AAA at all. would never recommend to anyone. Not trustworthy nor professional.

Pros - friendly service people, affordable oil change. Cons -I scheduled a 4:00 appointment for an oil change and was told by Steven that oil changes take 30 minutes to an hour at most. It took 2 hours with no reason given - I asked if there was. The second time I went to ask the customer service people on the status of my car, I noticed that my car was sitting in the lot. My file was up on the counter and the gentleman helping was surprised that no one had called me. I am not sure how these folks can stay in business - they do not run a good, organized, customer-service oriented business. It just feels unorganized with a lot of "nice" stuff and features on the inside but the quality of what I expected was very disappointing. I will not be taking my car here again.

I was really nervous to come in since I had been putting off routine maintenance on my car for a good year now. They made me feel comfortable about asking questions, gave me honest advice about how to proceed, and encouraged me to stop back every week or two to make sure everything continues to run as well as possible for my 1986 Toyota. Despite the fact that what I thought was my "confirmation email" actually told me to go somewhere else for one of my repairs, they managed to fit me in for an oil change and tire repair/replacement. I suppose I may have been annoyed if I had to wait in the office the whole time but I had a friend help me out since I assumed it would take a few hours so I would recommend others do the same rather than blame the staff.

In 2011, I took my 2006 Subaru Outback here to get the annual inspection. I have been a AAA member for 30 years, so I trusted the name. I went shopping in Target and when I got back, they said I would need $2,870 of repairs to pass inspection. I paid the inspection fee and took the car to my regular mechanic. He said it looked like someone had sprayed fluid to make it look like repairs were needed, but he could not find anything wrong. He inspected the car an passed it. It is now 3 years later (2014), and my Outback has now passed four inspections and added 50K miles since I took it to AAA, with NONE of the $2,870 of repairs AAA claimed were required ever being made, and no indication the repairs were ever needed.

I needed to have a headlight bulb replaced (I had the bulb). I usually ask someone at the auto parts store where I bought the bulb to replace it, but they are no longer able to do so. I am a member of AAA so I decided to see if they could replace it during my lunch break. As I was asking one of the guys at the desk if someone could replace it, another employee (Enrique Rosa, Service Consultant) walked up. He asked what kind of car, I told him, and he said no problem-give me a minute. He walked outside with me and changed the bulb. I think the whole process - from me asking, to the bulb replacement - took all of 10 minutes. Everyone there is always friendly and professional and Enrique was no exception.

Edited 10.10.2017 - I previously posted about a prolonged and complicated ordeal that I had with trying to get my car fixed at this location; eventually I ended up going to a different car place for the repair needed. After an extended back-and-forth with various people at AAA, the problem has been resolved to my satisfaction. I think it was a series of genuine miscommunications and/or mistakes, and they have refunded part of the questionable or seemingly questionable charges. I am still not thrilled with the service I received, but hopefully it was just a fluke and not reflective of their usual level of service. They were polite throughout.

I want to particularly comment about Darrell Pierce, shuttle service driver. I was stranded when my car broke down and got a tow to the South Square center. I had not used them before. I had arranged, I thought, a rental car, and Darrell drove me to pick it up. Turns out the rental did not have any vehicles available, despite my confirmed reservation. Long story short, Darrell refused to drop me off anywhere and leave me until he knew I had a car to use. He drove me to several rental companies in Durham, each time waiting to confirm that I had a vehicle without leaving me. I am very grateful for his assistance.

Just moving to this area, it is very hard to find a car center that you can trust. Being a AAA member I chose to give this place a shot and was not disappointed!!! My first time there everyone was warm, welcoming and helpful. Not only did they fix my problem but they check everything with your care to make sure everything is okay at no charge! The second time I just needed my backlight changed and they got it done quickly in 10 minutes, with no appointment. On top of that Enrique, one of the consultants, did not charge me! This place goes above and beyond ot help you and I will keep bringing my car here!

I was lured by the $19.95 coupon that I received. I was quickly told that I needed a different oil so the coupon was null and void, so $56.20 later. While the workers were nice I was very disappointed and do not plan to return. The service that I get from the Toyota dealership is much better and actually less expensive. With the dealership I get my wind shield cleaner filled ( which AAA did not) and my tires rotated. The Maintenance required light is still on so I will still have to go to the Toyota service department. Should have gone there to begin with.

Be sure to use your AAA coupons here! As with any service, go in with at least some knowledge. Yes, they will try to sell you extra services. If you know that your brakes were serviced 10K miles ago, then you know they do not need to be replaced, etc. Went in for a oil/filter change and tire rotation. At home I noticed the tires were not rotated, although I paid for this service. Ugh. Brought the car back and they took care of the rotation without waiting. Just be observant! Everyone makes mistakes and overlooks things from time to time.

Appreciate Justin taking care of me at AAA. I had front brakes and rotors replaced in a very timely fashion. I have read the other reviews and realize no business is perfect but I will say that you leave this facility with full knowledge of what is going on with your vehicle as much as they are able to see without taking your vehicle apart. You can fix it or not but at least you have some idea how to budget for your repairs or maintenance of your vehicle. The 2 year warranty should give you peace of mind also, it does me. Thanks guys!!!!

AAA in Durham near Target is where I had new struts and bolts put on. While driving one day the car was making a noise near the back left tire. I took it back to AAA and a mechanic stated that the bolt was loose. When they went to fix it I was told it was a defective bolt and they have no way of knowing it was defective before applying it. I did not look at it when it came off the car so they can tell me anything. I do know with the bolt is loose it could have caused a terrible accident. Too dangerous.

This is by far the worst AAA I have been to. They price gouge customers and take advantage of vulnerable people who are not well versed with car repairs. The few times my wife has taken her car into this place it has easily come out with a minimum of $400 of suggested repairs that are either unnecessary or not at all needed. I will never be returning to them for anything and I highly suggest others seek another location or a local shop that is well trusted with better reviews than this place.
