WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY EVER! My client tried using this company for a mortgage to purchase a home, however, this company could not perform. I informed Carlos (the mortgage lender) that this file had to close by July 29th, no exceptions. He stated "no problem, will get it done." Since that initial conversation at the end of June, I have not heard one word from him, despite numerous attempts to reach him via phone and email. I did hear from his assistance, Andrea, several weeks later asking for the executed purchase agreement. I stated to Andrea I gave this to her and Carlos several weeks prior, to which, she acknowledge she did in fact have a copy and was looking it at while on the phone with me. When I started to question Andrea about the timeframe and deadline for closing, she began to get extremely defensive, blamed my client, and then hung up on me. I quickly called my client to get some more clarification and he informed me that he sent all requested documents as soon as he was asked by Carlos and/or Andrea. I then received another phone call a few days later from my client informing me the lender would not be able to make the deadline for closing. NEVER DID I RECIEVE ANY CALL OR EMAIL NOTIFICATION FROM CARLOS. If you are looking to purchase a home and need a mortgage, stay away from this company. There are plenty of reputable companies out there that will fight for you and more importantly, communicate with you throughout the process.

"My experience with 1st Florida Lending and Carlos Matos and his office staff was truly exceptional". My credit was not the best when I applied for a loan and Carlos guided me on how to raise my credit score to get a better rate and term using the rapid rescoring system which updated my scores in only 3 days which caused a slight delay in the original closing date another 5 days. The realtor who I was working with was also the sellers agent and promised to extend my closing date but suddenly changed their minds at the last minute and threaten to keep my deposit money if I did not close on the time stated in the contract. Carlos came to my rescue by reassuring the realtor and seller that the loan was going to be approved, explained the reason for the delay in writing and got me the extension to purchase my home. When talking about experience with friends about previous home financing. I have to say that Carlos is a man of his word and kept his promise with me and the seller. Moreover, I truly felt that everyone in the office who participated in the processing of my loan, was always by my side and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a loan. I would like to take time to thank Carlos and his team at 1st Florida lenders , after a divorce in 2015, I had very challenging credit my scores my scores drop to the mid-500s and I thought it would be impossible for me to ever own a home where I could live with my son however I found Carlos through a friend Who recommended him highly ,he promised me that he would be able to help me get a home loan after 45 days of me working with them I was able to close on my new home I never thought that I would be able to become a homeowner again after the unforeseen circumstances that occurred in my life ! to my surprise it happened Carlos and his team were able to provide me with a enough information and of their knowledge to make this happened . Totally unprofessional, lies about interest rates and mortgage approval and at last minute trys to deny promising anything, despite numerous saved text messages from him proving otherwise. Spoke to another company and they did in 2 weeks, what Jorge and this company could not do in 3 months!

Called for a week straight, left messages, did an online prequal which stated someone would get back with me asap. No answers, no return calls, no contact from this company. This is some subprime bottom feeder trying to procure a mortgage. I am an 820+ FICO, A paper borrower that they do not have the decency to even return my call or pick up the phone.
