We were very lucky with our tour guide. Even so he was not a Native American, he was knowledgeable, serious and funny at the same time. It was quit an adventure to take all the steep steps down and narrow passageways up, but so well worth it. Quite astonishing was the indigenous people were able to create and build in this very difficult and hostile environment.

We went last summer and the cliff dwellings themselves are remarkable. However, the older, slightly manly, woman ranger person was rude and sarcastic. I understand the need to keep the crowd moving but she scolded people and rushed us through like a heeler on the Chisolm Trail.

Nice to experience some older history in America. Buildings date back 800 years or so. Only guided tours available at $5 per person. Park ranger was honest about how much is unknown about the true history of these buildings and peoples.

This sight lives up to its name we took the tour and it was worth it. If you go with kids there are no bathrooms and we experienced the the hard way. But we survived and it was beautiful

Easiest of the 3 ranger-led cliff dwelling tours at Mesa Verde National Park, and the most extensive set of ruins.
