We booked the green shuttle through the National Park Site. It cost us $27.50 each, plus $10 each for a park pass (refundable at the WAC if you already have a pass) to go in 53 miles to the Toklat river stop which takes about 6.5 hours if you stay on the bus. It is simply an amazing place. There are no power lines, no aircraft, and no commercial or private establishments. Nothing but wilderness. They do allow you to jump off the bus and take another if you wish to go for a walk, but they do stop a few time for bathrooms and viewings. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this to anyone. Also I suggest to book on your own versus signing up through cruises and tours as they charge significantly more for more or less the same thing.

The park is fantastic but the National Park should get rid of the company making the bus/campground bookings. They are completely useless and have no clue sitting somewhere in Arizona or so. Almost every single piece of information I received via several agents regarding the bus or the campground was wrong. They also charged about $80 too much; the nice NP person at the park entrance realized this and reimbursed us. The service of the company was awful; the NP should go back to doing these booking arrangements itself with employees who know the park. I am Alaska resident and have been in the park many times but this was the worst booking experience ever..

The park is unbelievably beautiful! Unfortunately, the days we visited were very cloudy so we did not see Mount Denali. The Tundra Wilderness Tour was great. It is 8 hours on a bus. You get to see a lot of wild animals including bears, Caribou and Dall sheep. The bus is equipped with a telescopic camera and monitors for a close up view of the animals. The snack pack provided leaves a lot to be desired. Take a sandwich and drink with you. The bottled water provided did not taste good to me. I suggest you make your reservations online to ensure you get your desired time and not have to wait in line.

The wilderness and beauty of Denali is difficult to describe. If you enjoy the outdoors this is a must-see destination. One of my favorite and most vivid memories in my life came during a trip to Denali in the early 2000s. We were lucky enough to stay for a few nights at cabins inside the park proper a few miles from Wonder Lake. Denali had been socked in with clouds as usual for the whole trip. On our last day we rode bikes down to Wonder Lake and clouds had parted with a magnificent view of Denali. We hung out for hours eating blueberries from the bushes and enjoying the sights and sounds of Alaska.

Talk about beyond breathtaking! We were fortunate enough for the road into the park being open for 30 miles rather than the usual 15. Round corners with sweeping sensational views everywhere the eye can see. Most importantly though, get out of your vehicle and take a hike.... Trail or no trail, the point of this park is to explore and adventure on your own. Keep your eyes peeled for moose, bears, foxes, elk, etc....truly AMAZING place Denali is! With over 6 million acres, there is plenty to see! Get going! Thanks to the US Parks department for their upkeep of this phenomenal natural wonder! Best, ~S

From Brazil To Alaska One of the most beautiful places in the world, Denali Park, in mid-September closes for the winter period, but is open to visit 50km of the almost 200km that the park has of road allowed to visitors. Highly recommend. Very wild magic place.

I visited with my parents when I was 19 in July of 93. We sat on a big school bus with packed lunches and endured a long bumpy ride with other tourists from all over the world. We headed into the park with a lovely young ranger telling us facts about the park. Within no less than 90 minutes on the bumpy bus, we saw a huge Moose in the green valley and the top of the big mountain came out as the clouds gave way to the sun. Even the ranger was awestruck by our good fortune and quick delivery. It stays with me as one of the best parts of our 2 week trip to this beautiful state.

Denali is a must! The mountains are bigger than anything I have ever seen! They rise way beyond the clouds! We did the bus tour through the park and it was worth every penny!!! They packed great lunches. The bus driver we had was amazing. He gave us each a copy of his published photography book with the pictures he has taken of the park over the years. If you do get car sick- take something before the bus ride. Its 10 hrs of windy roads but the views are so worth it!!! There is also the chance to meet the parks sled dogs and see how the operations go with that.

This park is the best park for viewing wildlife and catch some glimpse of the Denali peak on a clear and sunny day. I would suggest taking the tours offered either by the park (but the good ones are given by some private tours) to enjoy the beauty of the park and its wildlife. Also, the roads are little narrow at some places and the roads are gravel roads, so basically you have to drive at your own risk. When you drive on your own, its difficult to spot wildlife as you drive. I saw the "BIG FIVE" of the animals in the park. Its a good place to relax and enjoy .

● In Alaska Denali National Park and Preserve (Denali National Park and Preserve) greatest achievement is only the brown bear and pass me, I live up lasted twelve hours of arduous journey. Silly, I think this is the most appropriate to describe bears a word. Next time must go to Katmai National Park and Preserve to watch them catch salmon scene.

Never took the bus..cancelled, no refunds. Ate the $ loss--long-g-g bus trip was described by many as just very uncomfortable and the place was so crowded. LOVED the rest of our Alaska trip in a rented RV. Alaska has PLENTY of extraordinary places to visit and enjoy…as for Denali--- just drive in the distance allowed..stay as long as you want at the end point and hike around. Animals and vistas are wonderful along the way, and you are independent of the very structured park bus rules. (Think old school bus..all day trip.)

Our entire trip to s Alaska was incredible, but Denali was truly unbelievable. Our first day in we were lucky enough to have a good view of the mountain from atop Mount Healy, but even in the clouds the entire park was incredible. Being able to ride the bus and get off and hike almost everywhere was a new experience, and definitely something everyone visiting should do. You can see a lot of spectacular views and wildlife from the bus, but getting off trail and seeing the animals from the ground made it extra special.

Beautiful park. Enjoyed the bus ride, had a awesome driver and got very lucky with animal encounters while on the bus. I recommend going in as far as possible on the bus for the best opportunity & possibility of seeing bear, caribou, dall sheep, moose, ptarmigan & anything else that thrives in the park. There are nice trails in the beginning of the park by the visitor center & along the river further inside. So happy I had the opportunity to visit this park even if it wasnt the best weather day to see Denali.

Went to Denali mid august 2014, what a wonderful time our family had. Having 4 and 6 years old boys with us during the trip we were worried it might be to much for them but, we were incorrect. With all the different trails the boys had a great time. The camping area was clean and where we took shower was spotless. The people working were helpful and friendly. It was a great vacation and we will do it again, the park is so big you can never see it all.

Denali is a great place but the experience is being ruined by too many people. You get crammed in to a bus with people, I swear have never seen an animal before. The shrieking and yelling get annoying real fast. Only 30% of people ever see Denali. It is usually shrouded in clouds. If you want a better experience, rent a car and drive to Seward. Get on a tour boat and see the sights. Still a lot of people but only takes 1 day and the drive is spectacular.

We went to Denali the end of September 2013. Most everything was closing up, but we did stay in the Park. Riley Creek was available to stay at for free. It got to about 15 degrees at night so be prepared. There were still a lot of animals to see and very few people driving around. All the bathrooms are locked up except for at the hotels and restaurants outside the park area. It was still a very good time to go, but getting pretty cold.

One of the most beautiful places in Alaska in my opinion. The sheer vastness allows for areas to appear untouched by humans. Staying at a campground in the park is a must-do for any summer Alaskan visit. I would definitely recommend taking the bus to wonder lake, that is a great scenic drive as well as the best campground in the park. The views of Denali from there are spectacular.

McKinley Hill, formerly known as Denali mountain range, it is also the highest mountain in North America. It covers an area of 2.43 million hectares, approximately 16% is covered by glaciers, if you want a close look, you can choose to watch the aircraft.

Experience the wildlife in their natural habitat, go berry picking, marvel at the magnificent Mckinley Mountain. You can drive your own cars 15 miles into the park and there is a lot to catch even in just that. When in doubt which bus tour to pick - go with the Eielson Visitor Center tour. We went in Fall and saw the best mix of green yellow and red mountain sides.

We have been going to Alaska the last 20 years. This year will make our 21st year. Some years we visit twice a year. I TOTALLY agree with "Noremac907" Wendy is tops!!!! Ditto to all of his comments. Wendy loves Denali as much as we do. She even goes into the park on her days off. Tim Linebaugh, Bar Gray & J.J. Nevins are also excellent drivers. Denalidaze

Went on the extended bus tour through Denali National park in Aug. 2013. Jason our tour guide/driver was very knowledgeable & had a keen eye for spotting wildlife in the park. Even if this had been the only excursion we took in Alaska, we would have been extremely satisfied! I highly recommend a visit to Denali National Park for anyone but especially families!

Been about twelve years ago, there is no sun down, wolf mothers with children, a huge bear sitting on the grass eating little red - basket of strawberries. Several interesting. There are performances bear to catch fish, natural and free. Beautiful country.

It was awesome because there were signs of wildlife such as seeing caribou, mountain sheep, and bald eagles. The wildlife is much to see and is an awesome sight for people who love to travel and hike. The downside to that is that your own car can not go in the park, but there is transportation to bring you to the top but the cost is pretty expensive.

Denali national park is an impressive location to visit. If you are lucky you will see mount Denali. I visited for 3 days and every evening I drove the 15 mile paved road that you can drive on your own. After that you have to take a shuttle bus. Moose appear to be more active at dusk and I saw them at least 3 times in the same water pond by the road.

The goal here is to view wildlife and have a chance of seeing the mountain. Only 3 out of ten visitors see the mountain. They offer two narrated bus tours on the road into the park, one.is about five hours, the other is eight. The visitor.center offers film presentation and life.sized.examples.of the principal large animal inhabitants of the park.

Vast space. A lot of places particularly in the lower 48 you are instructed to keep to the trails. Here you are told to keep off of trails. There is so much room that there is no fear of killing vegetation with heavy traffic. If you only have a short time, the drive to Wonder Lake is fantastic, particularly if you have clear weather.

13 Grizzly spotted in 14 days. We camped and moved often in the back country. Bears are a real issue you need to deal with. Check in with park rangers for the latest info. The park is amazing. Pictures take themselves. Bugs can be intense so be ready. Other then bears we saw a fox, sheep, caribou. Plenty of wild life.
