Howell and Christmas, LLC On October 30th, 2012, I fell onto my knee at work. I didn’t want to hire a lawyer since I didn’t think that my injury would become so serious, debilitating, or lengthy (almost 3 years). I went 8 months trying to deal with workers compensation adjusters, their doctors, the store owner, and managers on my own. The final tipping point came when the adjuster wouldn’t return my phone calls or even approve medication for pain. Thankfully, a friend of mine works with lawyers, as she is a Rehabilitation Consultant. She recommended Howell & Christmas to me because of their great track record. I am truly glad that I followed her advice. Reese Stidham was assigned my case. Reese is an awesome lawyer and down to earth kind of guy. Once we met, I told him everything that I had already gone through on my own. He understood my concerns and put my nerves to ease. Reese is very good at explaining South Carolina Workers Compensation Laws; along with the many procedures in a case. Tracey Freeman is Reese’s Paralegal. Tracey is absolutely outstanding. I conversed mostly with Tracey throughout my entire case. Tracey is very thorough and compassionate. She answered every question I ever asked her, always made certain that I was aware of upcoming meeting dates, and contacted the adjuster when something wasn’t correct or approved. They put forth a very good effort in the beginning. I was very impressed and confident that I made a good choice in helping through a difficult time. However, once the claim was accepted I noticed that the effort on their part had dramatically decreased. My disability checks were not the correct amount. I called the office on four separate occasions. The same response was received every time. They would tell me “don’t worry we are working on it” In the six months I was out of work they never corrected the problem. This should have been an easy fix, since they had all of my wage information. Second, medical request for the doctor’s office went unanswered. Again I had to call and call and call before they finally sent out a letter. My instincts told me to replace them, and I really wish I would have. In my opinion they were just looking for the largest possible commission check while doing the least amount of work while my health and well-being was never a consideration.
