Like most of us do when we find ourselves in need of an attorney, we thank to ourselves, how much is it going to cost and how will I pay for it. That is exactly what I said when I found myself in a child custody battle between me and my ex. After going to court, I quickly realized that this was not a task I wanted to take on without legal advice. Again, like most of us I ran to the rescue of the internet. I began to search for attorneys based on ratings and reviews. After that, I narrowed it down based on what each attorney charged and for what. I found what I believed to be a good attorney, boy was I wrong! After getting the run around, being lied too, penny pitched, and taken advantage of by the one I was paying to represent my best interest, I was fed up. By this point, my funds were running low however, I was in too deep and needed to figure out something quick. After 3 attorneys, from 3 different law firms, and several maxed-out credit cards, I felt maybe this was a waste of time. Then I figured, what the heck I will give it one last shot. Back to the internet I went and this time I stumbled upon Arnold and Smith Law Firm. After reading the reviews I quickly made an appointment. Once I arrived I was greeted by a young lady who provided excellent customer service. I was then escorted to a conference room, offered some refreshments and was told the attorney would be in shortly. Shortly after, I was greeted by a young lady that was soft spoken and easy going. She introduced herself as Anastasia. I said to myself OMG, here I go again. She didn’t look like she would harm a fly. By this point, I had been through a lot, and things were not looking good, I needed a bulldog on myside. She sat down and we began to talk, I started with day one and brought her up to my current situation. After explaining to her how many times I had been to court, how many judges I had spoken to, and how many attorneys I had, she just smiled and said “ok and”! I took a stack of papers about 2 inches thick and pushed them across the table to her, I told her that these were the papers I had collected over the years going back and forth to court. She smiled and said, “I am here to help you”! I said to her “that’s what the last 3 attorneys said and now I am left with a big debt and a stack of papers”. She smiled and said “just give me a chance, it’s going to cost you, I am not sure how much and if you feel like we are getting in too deep just let me know and I won’t be offended, we can stop”. Fast forward to a year later, I now have custody of my daughter during the school year, along with child support to assist me with caring for her needs. If you are looking for an attorney to help you with a child custody case, one that will fight for you, will not nickel and dime you for every little thing, one you can trust, one that is not money hungry, one that will keep their word, one that will fight to the end and will never leave you alone, then go see Anastasia Cowan and the folks over at Arnold and Smith Law Firm. Anastasia and her paralegal Kristin Pierce will work tirelessly and do what needs to be done to ensure your voice is heard, you are treated fairly and that justice is served. From day one Anastasia has been genuine, and showed her love and compassion for kids, my other attorneys couldn’t even remember my child’s name. You were right....... If you are in the process of any personal conflict or issue it will be the most emotional, personal and draining experience in your life. After 17 months and a large sum of money spent with another law firm. I felt frustrated, disheartened and aggravated. I was so far in, or so I thought, I didn’t want to “throw in the towel” with my current attorney. But at the same time, I knew something had to be done. I was at the point of walking away without anything that I had worked so hard to obtain for me and my children. Within four – yes four (4) – Weeks of retaining Matt’s firm my case was settled. He negotiated on my behalf and exceeded my expectations. I have to say that Matt and his staff are intelligent, experienced and a group of very personable professionals that work for You. He wants things settled quickly and in a timely manner. He does not believe in waiting months or even years to achieve your goal. He is honest and sets expectations from day one. He will not “sugar coat” anything and does not beat around the bush. I followed my divorce attorney to Arnold & Smith from another firm. Tonya Smith made no guarantees or promises or any means of coercion to get me to follow her. She simply let her record stand. It did well. I did not hesitate to follow her to Arnold & Smith. Tonya always held my interest at the foremost. She also kept a keen eye on keeping me on track, for the health of the case and to help curb paying unnecessary fees coving things that were not pertinent to the case. Tonya showed concern and believed my side of the case. Once I hired Tonya, I knew I had a fighting chance. There were many times when I would call her all frazzled and nervous about my divorce. She always knew the legal advice I needed to handle the situation. She always calmed my nerves. Tonya was constantly on the proactive side of the case. She tried to get everything settled in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the Cabarrus County Court System was not very conducive to that means. Not to mention the many, many communications through unanswered letters, phone calls, and emails to opposing council. Although this discouraged me, Tonya kept at it. When the situation warranted it, she would hold Opposing Council’s feet to the fire. During my Civil Trial, she picked apart what my ex-wife put together to try to get me to not be able to see my little girl. At the trial, my ex-wife didn’t stand a chance against Tonya. Not only did she make her look like the fool she is, Tonya got my case dismissed. I did my best to follow her advice to the letter. I know I wouldn’t have come through my divorce with what marital property I have, and more importantly, my wits without Tonya. She handled my case with professionalism, integrity, and without having to stoop to the tactics that the Opposing Council used. In short, I believe Tonya to be a rock solid attorney.

I met Anastasia 8 days before a full custody hearing. Even I had a lot of documentation and the best of intentions. I couldn’t made it with out her. It would not be possible without her professionalism and deep understanding of the law . She is also very responsive via e mail and phone whenever I have questions Sometimes love and justice is not enough, you need a lawyer to defend you, in my case, I found so much more than that. This is a very complicated situation, and not matter how hard things are. She sincerely cares about her clients, she cares about me and my daughter. On top of that she works with a great assistant, Kristin, they are very responsive, very quickly not only rights you back, but Kristin writes back in the next hour or so, it is unbelievable the kind of person that she is. No wonder why they work as a team. When things get impossible, she is there to lift you up and see the good things. Anastasia is not only my attorney; she gives me hope. She is more that I wonderful attorney, she is a wonderful person. She takes the time to listen to you, hear your opinion. Anastasia can see so much father that I can see and is able to bring me peace when everything is shaking. There is not one day goes by that when I see or play with my daughter the name Anastasia does comes to my mind. Going through a custody batter, I would say, torture, it is hard to explain all the things that you want to say, You need a an attorney that is there for you, your voice when you don’t have the right words. She is definitely in my prayers at night when I get to part of being thankful you for things. She is definitely someone you want on your side to help you through. I highly recommend her.

Putting my faith and legal future into the hands of Arnold & Smith LLC was the best legal decision I made following two serious legal matters. Since my first consultation with Brad Smith, I was assured it is my best interests that will remain the primary goal for any legal outcome and that was proven. I have worked with Pete McArdle for a couple of years now when my wife decided to divorce and relocate with my kids to a different state. Pete helped me out to settle our marital property outside the Court without a major dispute, waste of time and money, and without the stress of preparing for and being before a Judge. Most importantly, Pete was very proactive to negotiate a custody agreement that allowed me not only to have my children often, but also to keep my boys in North Carolina – all this also accomplished outside the Court room.
